As a kind of popular dance of the Dai people in Yunnan Province, the elephant foot drum dance is based on the Dai martial arts(武术) and mainly performed by males(男性). A traditional musical instrument called the elephant foot drum is played in the dance. This dance was first used to welcome the new year. Now it is a way for the Dai people to show their joy as well as their village
culture. It also shows that the Dai people are friendly.
Xie Wenping, an experienced drum maker, said that making an elephant-foot drum is not easy and it takes about 30 steps and one month. After picking the wood, Xie needs to carve(雕刻) the wood into an elephant-leg-like shape and make the inside empty. The drum surface is made of cow leather(牛皮), which needs several steps such as leather selection(选择), cleaning, air-drying and so on. Then comes the painting. The finishing steps include tuning(调音) and polishing the leather.
Bo Hanming, 55, has been interested in the elephant foot drum dance since his childhood. He
started to learn the dance systematically(系统地) at 23. After years of practice, he has become a famous dancer and is invited to perform at all kinds of festivals and ceremonies(庆典). Under his influence, many young people come to learn the dance from him. So far, he has taught 132 students and some of them even become masters and teach their own students. Through their efforts, more and more people are deeply interested in this traditional art.
Both Xie and Bo think it is their responsibility to carry on the dance. In their opinion, all of the Dai elephant-foot drum dancers will continue to pass on this great traditional art in their own way.
Imagine taking a flying taxi to the airport, or jumping over crowded city streets at rush hour, getting where you want to go far faster than you could in a car. Believe it or not, you might be able to do these things in an air taxi sooner than you think.
An air taxi is something like a helicopter(直升机) that can carry people from place to place. And it can go straight up and down without a long runway.
An American company called Joby Aviation has started testing their new air taxi. This is the first time they' ve tested a taxi that' s been built in a factory. Before that, all their taxis were made by hand. By 2025, Joby hopes to start carrying passengers for money. They' ve teamed up with Delta Air Lines to create a program to fly people from their homes to the airport. Besides the pilot, Joby' s air taxis can carry four other passengers. They can go around 100 miles before the electric batteries(电池) need to be recharged.
Compared with helicopters, Joby says their air taxis are both quieter and cheaper. Users need to pay about $3 a mile at first. But over time, the price was brought down to less than $1 a mile.
Although the idea of flying taxis is exciting, some people are still concerned about them. The air taxis may be quieter than helicopters, but they' ll still be adding noise and traffic to our skies. Some people worry that only rich people will be able to afford to use them.
It seems likely that air taxis will be part of the future travel. But there' s still a lot to do before air taxis become common.
Friends are important in our lives. But not all of friends stand the test of time. We spoke about friendships with Marisa Franco, writer of the book How Can You Make And Keep Friends. Here are four tips to remember if you' re losing a friend.
Accept changes in life
Losing friends is a part of life. Franco said: " Nobody really wants the friendship to end, but people get busy and can' t keep the friendship any more. " It doesn' t mean we are not qualified (合格的) friends. Instead, it makes us value what we have at present.
" When being with friends, the relationship will get worse if you keep leaving something unsaid instead of communicating with each other positively (积极地). " Franco said. We might be afraid of having arguments. But if we think about it and talk in peace, it can be a sign that you care enough to fix the friendship.
Allow yourself to feel sad
Allow yourself to feel those feelings and be patient with yourself. Franco said, " When society doesn' t value a relationship that you' re losing, you have trouble grieving. " It makes the grief last longer. We should think like " Of course, I' m sad, I lost someone I' m close to" . Instead of being like " What' s wrong with me? " " And you can' t put a timeline on grief. Grief is just a process of feeling emotion over time. " Franco said.
Be kind to yourself along the way
Franco said it' s important to forgive (原谅) yourself for not getting over the loss of a friendship. But don' t go into a new friendship feeling afraid. " Your understanding of friendship in your brain isn' t just colored by this one experience. " Franco said.
A. Make the unsaid said.
B. Things just keep coming and going.
C. Solve problems as quickly as possible.
D. One way to make you feel better again is to make new friends.
E. Normally, when a friendship ends, there is a process of feeling sad.

But she was running. And she was passing me and my group of friends. She ran slowly, but determinedly (坚定地). One of us recognized (认出) her and said the woman survive (存活) the cancer and took part in the Race every year. Right at that moment, I 5 that in the next Race for the Cure, I' d be running along with her.
A week later, I found myself in the gym, running on the running machine. Three minutes after I started, my face was bright red. I had to 6 to a walk. Then I thought of the woman at the race. I kept it up. I was able to go a little longer each time. Three and a half minutes. Four minutes. Five. A year later, I was at the Race for the Cure again. When the race started, the other runners passed me 7 . I wondered if I' d be able to do it. Suddenly, I remembered the 8 woman. I ran as fast as I could until I finally 9 that finishing line. I looked down at my legs, amazed. They had done something I' d never thought possible. I have never felt so strong before and I knew it was a 10 that I wanted to create again.

To welcome spring, the students and teachers from Yuelu District planted trees on Tree Planting Day. For middle and primary school students, labor (劳动) has become a must. They will also need to learn how to cook, wash clothes and keep the house in order under new law for labor education.
The Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部) brought out a new rule for labor education in 2022. According to the new rule, students in primary and middle schools have to take classes on labor skills at least once a week. The new rule includes three kinds of labor tasks. The first is for things like everyday chores, including cleaning, organizing and cooking. Next is creative labor, such as making hand-made works and using new technologies. The third is service work which includes volunteer work.
Schools in China have traditionally paid more attention to studying, and many have seen chores as a waste of children' s time. But according to the MOE, labor education must be built up because labor classes at school can help students be active, creative and happy in life.
Online, people have been busy discussing the new rule. Xie Yun, a mother of a junior middle school student in Changsha, strongly supports labor education. For the past years, she has trained her son to do chores and make simple dishes for the family.
" Through doing housework, their eye-hand coordination (手眼协调), time management and organization skills can be trained and it' s also good to help them relax" . Through such education, Xie thinks her son has found fun in doing chores and are more independent.
