Last summer my son, Eric, left for university in another country. Our once lively house became quiet and lonely. I missed and worried him so much that I started sending him messages on the phone, mainly to say hello or to give him a word of warming.
One of my messages says, "So you told me you lost your wallet. If you are always careless, one day you'll wake up and find yourself lost."
I did get Eric's messages, but most of them were about money. I was a bit angry.
They were not different from the notes he used to leave on the white board when he was at home.
"I bought a new pair of shoes. They cost me $90. Please help!"
"Money is running short because I've bought some books for my research paper. Help me please!"
Recently, however, Eric begins to send me all kinds of articles. Some are funny, some are touching and some make me think. He knows I haven't got many things to do in my free time. He says they will help me understand young men better and keep up with the times.
I read the articles slowly, like a careful student, with mixed feelings as well - my kid, who followed me around not long ago, has now become my teacher!
So I write back, "I've read all those articles, I'll take them as a loving son's hopes towards his mother. He must be thinking that his mother is still young enough to accept new things. That makes me feel proud. We parents can't learn quickly and change in both body and mind. Thank you, my son."
In this way we share ideas, with a gentle and beautiful language we seldom use. Every time I read those messages, I feel warm.
①To ask his mother for some more money.
②To give his mother some things to do.
③To help his mother keep up with the time.
④To help his mother understand the young better.
Hu Yaohui, a schoolgirl in Zhejiang Province, didn't want to speak or eat for a week. She kept worrying about her grades on the exam. "I can't stop thinking about my place in the class," she said. "I feel stressed out. "
Hu is not the only one that faces stress. According to a recent survey conducted by Wuhan University of Hubei Province, 70 percent of the 2, 000 students who are going to take the college and high school entrance exams feel under pressure.
Stress is a normal physical response (反应) to things that make people feel worried or break their balance of life in some way.
Stress isn't always bad. Sometimes, people's stress is important during emergency situations, such as when a driver has to stop his car to avoid an accident. Sometimes, stress can help people do their best - like while getting ready before a big competition or exam.
However, too much or long-term stress gives people a stress overload (负荷过多). People with stress overloads may have problems remembering or focusing on things. They are quick to get angry or lose patience. They may even have other problems, such as sleeping problems, headaches and often getting colds.
The most helpful way to deal with stress overloads is to learn how to manage the stress. For example, you might manage it by getting a good night's sleep, or by exercising every day.
Another good way to deal with stress is to ask parents or friends for help. Everyone has stress. For many people, stress is so common that it has become a way of life. Don't be too shy to tell others that you are having a hard time. They may comfort you or give you some useful advice. Sometimes just sharing your problems with someone else can make you feel better.
Every now and then you may see news of satellites(卫星) sent into space. On Feb 21, for example, US company SpaceX took 46 satellites into orbit (轨道). China sent 22 satellites into space. Why do we need so many satellites? What do they do out there?
At present, there are more than 3,000 active satellites moving around the Earth, according to Statista, a German company working on market data. Satellites do all kinds of work, from transmitting(传送) TV signals to giving you directions on the road to helping scientists do research.
For example, the 22 satellites China just sent up are part of the Beidou Navigation Satellite System (北斗卫星导航系统). Shared bikes that use BeiDou chips (芯片) can have more accurate(精准的) positioning, making them easier to find. Drones(无人机) use BeiDouto fly.
Before satellites, TV signals didn't go very far. Mountains or tall buildings would block(阻碍) them. Phone calls to faraway places were also a problem. Setting up telephone wires(线) over long distances(距离) is difficult. With satellites, TV signals and phone calls can be sent directly to a satellite and back down to different locations on Earth. SpaceX's Starlink project is trying to go further. It plans to use satellites to provide Internet in the future.
Satellites can also provide information about clouds, oceans, land and ice. They help scientists predict changes in weather and climate. By monitoring(监测) wildfires and volcanoes, satellites help emergency workers(应急人员) deal with natural disasters.
Farmers can use satellite images to decide the best time to water their fields.
Some satellites fly near other planets. They may look for water on Mars or take close-up pictures of Saturn's rings(土星环). In 2020, video website Bilibili sent a satellite into space. Its job is to look at other planets and share the pictures and videos with Bilibili's users.
a. Transmit telephone signals.
b. Help scientists do researches.
c. Provide information about the environment.
d. Stop natural disasters.
Helping others is easier than you think. You don't need to wait to become a rich man like Bill Gates to help the poor. You can become a volunteer. And in doing so, you can become a better and happier person.
For example, homeless people who sleep in the cold, poor children who have no parents to take care of them and can't go to school. All of these are suitable (合适的).
Sometimes it isn't only money—you can give up several hours each week as a volunteer, you can help teach the poor children, you can hand out your old clothes, or you can share a meal with a hungry child.
Tell your friends or your children about your volunteering work. You can also put it in Weibo or Douyin to let more people know about your kindness. In this way, the good work you do will be multiplied (增加).
Because you're a volunteer. You must be ready to help others for being a volunteer. Once you have decided to do something, you should never give up!
You should offer to help people whenever they are in need of help. Let them know that you are available if they need you. Showing up in time is important as a good volunteer.

When I was a little girl, my mother enjoyed reading books. She asked my father to bring many 1 from the town library. My father usually brought as many books as the librarian 2 at a time. My mother would not like anyone to 3 her and liked finishing a story without breaks.
One day, my father was 4 to get the most popular book at that time. After my mother knew that, she 5 bought some hot dogs because she thought that it was great for us all to enjoy the 6 , together with the family talk. My mother could 7 wait to give out the hot dogs and she was lost in the new book. My father felt it not good for 8 not to join in the family talk.
Now it was time to 9 something in our family. On a festival season, some guests 10 us at our home. We had a great time enjoying the festival food, 11 something was troubling my father and that was the 12 of my mother's reading the book. She sat on a sofa and kept reading her new book without 13 others.
My aunt took my mother's novel away and didn't give it to her until she promised that she would never get crazy about reading books in her 14 . Now, my father is still active and my mother is still 15 reading the book but only when she is alone.

Nowadays, many students are on weekends than weekdays, because their parents take them to different kinds of classes. Because of this, most of them are under too much. One of the main reasons why parents do so is that they are always their own children with other children. Doctors say it is normal to want successful children, but it is more important to have children. Therefore, there is no need for them to push their children so .
Last year, I worked in a big company, people in need(usual) called us, and we helped them do some housework. One day, we received a call from a woman named Linda, " My neighbor Claudia just had an operation. Could I pay for it without letting her know? Then she explained that why she was (worry) about the old woman. She said Claudia lived alone and just came back the hospital. There is something with her eyes. Her house was in mess. But she couldn't do any housework. Even (sweep)the floor was difficult for her. So Linda decided (help)Claudia, but she didn't want to give Claudia any pressure. The next day, we arrived at Claudia's house. we promised Linda not to tell her about what Linda did for her, we didn't mention it. She (touch) by what we did for her. Most of the time, we don't want to trouble others, but there is always someone who (care) for you and makes great effort to help you.
