Yu Jingjing is a security guard (保安) at a children's hospital in Dalian,Liaoning province. He has been working for three years at the 1 . Recently he has become 2 on the Internet and people call him "Toy Hero". How does he get the name?
Well, during these years, Yu always 3 many lost toys at the hospital. To make it easier for the 4 to find them, he hangs the toys on his back. But 5 people come back to claim (认领) them. Then Yu finds that these toys are 6 because sick children love them. So later Yu also buys some toys with his money to give to the children. Whenever he meets 7 children, he offers them toys. And they soon become happy.
"Doctors and nurses are busy every day. Parents are 8 their sick children," says Yu. "I am happy to do something to help make the children happy during their 9 in the hospital."
Besides the toys attached to (依附) his uniform, Yu also wears a small red 10 that reads, "Please call me if you need help."Sometimes in the hallways, he shows the way for patients or helps patients carry things, or even helps some patients get the water. Mother Teresa once said,"We cannot do great things—only small things with great love." I think Yu Jingjing is doing so.

Zong Qinghou
·Born: Oct 12,1945
·Birthplace: Jiangsu Province
·Occupation: Entrepreneur (企业家)
·Famous for: Becoming a self-made businessman while caring for those in need
Flowers were put in front of the old headquarters (总部) of the Hangzhou Wahaha Group, China's leading beverage (饮料) maker. They were for its leader, Zong Qinghou, who passed away on Feb 25.
Zong was a late achiever. Before starting Wahaha, he worked on farms and set up an electric fan factory. These efforts led to his future success. At the age of 42, he started his own business.
Zong saw a chance in the Children's nutrition market (营养市场). Through hard work and wise decisions, Wahaha became a bestseller and a household (家喻户晓的) name in China. In 2002, Wahaha's production was even bigger than that of Coca-Cola.
Having become rich and famous, Zong thought it was his responsibility (责任) to make society better. Because of his own experiences of being poor, he understood and cared for those who were less lucky. In 2020, Wahaha spent 942 million yuanbuilding more than 1,360 apartments for its workers to live in the Shangcheng district of Hangzhou.
Though Zong is gone now, his stories will continue to be a source of inspiration (激励).
"Without music, life would be a mistake," famous German philosopher (哲学家) Fried lrich Nietzsche said over a century ago. Music is a big part of our lives. But in recent years, some American schools have cut music classes to control budgets (预算). For example, Chicago public schools hurt arts education when it fired over 1,000 teachers. 10 percent of them taught art or music, according to The Washington Times. In fact, this is not just a problem in the US. In other countries, such as the UK, music classes are not thought to be as important as ones like science, math and history. That's partly because music is not seen as a very important life skill, and it isn't tested. Many students are busy with schoolwork, so parents and students choose to focus on subjects that are tested more often.
However, learning music is beneficial in many ways.
When playing music, you need different abilities to work together. It is not as simple as it looks, according to Kenneth K. Guilmartin of Music Together, an early childhood music development program. For example, when playing the piano, people see music notes and decode (解码) them in their brains. They also use their fingers to make sounds. You need to deal with all these things at the same time.
Music has a special connection with science as well. You can see that many scientists are good at playing music. Einstein played the violin and German physicist Max Planck was talented in playing the piano.
Social media (媒体) is a big part of most people's lives. There are social apps and sites like WeChat and Sina Weibo, as well as video apps like Douyin and Kuaishou. How do you behave when you use these apps?
Recently researchers at the University of Sussex, UK, studied social media users ranging from 10 to 15 years old. They found that they can be divided into four personality types.
Geeks (极客)
Geeks are active social media users, but they find it much more difficult to deal with the life in the real world. Most of them are boys who like playing computer games and making music and videos. They often post creative works online, using fake (假的) names. In fact, they should avoid spending too much time on the Internet.
Internet celebrities
Internet celebrities like sharing as well, but they are much more visible (看得见的) than geeks. They might become well-known for their singing or dancing. But many of them, especially teenagers, share almost every side of their lives in order to own more fans. Being a teenage Internet celebrity can sometimes cause problems in the real world.
Lurkers (潜伏者)
The first two groups are lucky to find a place to show their talent. But most teenagers fall into the third type—"lurkers", or people who are neither too active nor visible. This group prefers WeChat over Sina Weibo, as WeChat has private groups. They can't express themselves well but at least they make sure to protect their personal information.
Victims (受害者)
Victims don't have enough knowledge to keep themselves safe online. Their personal information can be made public and cause problems for them. To avoid being a victim, you should check your personal settings on social media. "Friends only" is a good choice for your posts. Don't share your personal information.
"We thank you for your visits to Heilongjiang. This winter, you brought joy and life to this land. It's so great to have you here." On the last day of 2023, the Heilongjiang Provincial Tourism Office announced a thank-you letter (excited). The letter (print) by several local newspapers.
At Harbin Ice and Snow World, the ice-and-snow theme park in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, tourists gathered (count) down toward 2024, with more than 1,000 ice and snow sculptures around.
Besides the ice-and-snow sculptures, a lot of winter activities were there for visitors to enjoy. Skiing was one of the (popular) activities. Many people would wait for two to three hours for these activities.
What's more, bicycles on ice and hot air balloons allowed visitors to enjoy the magic world from above. When the night (fall), the ice sculptures looked bright in different colors, and live music and DJs added more to the colorful ice and snow world, where (thousand) of visitors danced to the music together.
During this tourism boom, many visitors felt the warmth of local people. Local government provided hot tea free to keep visitors warm. Many drivers also volunteered to drive around the city to pick up tourists and give free rides.
" it is Zibo Barbecue or Harbin Ice and Snow Tourism, they have given full play to their own characteristics and advantages." said Zhang Yiwu, Chinese language and literature professor at Peking University.
Every year in March, while the two sessions (两会) are being held in Beijing, government officials give reports to the public. They hold news conferences (新闻发布会) and answer questions from journalists from both home and abroad. During this time, a lot of people are paying attention to China. For this reason, interpreters (口译员) play a very important role and sometimes share the limelight (瞩目焦点) at these news conferences.
Zhang Lu is a professional interpreter. She usually interprets for top leaders. Zhang is known for her translations of Chinese literary quotes (文学典故) that are sometimes used by state leaders. From the ancient poem Li Sao (《离骚》) to the shi, ci and qu writing of later dynasties, she can interpret them right on the spot. How are interpreters like Zhang able to work so accurately (准确地) and quickly?
The source of their ability is largely hard work. Most of them majored (主修) in English in college and went through a great deal of training. After they become interpreters, they never stop learning. Zhang watches and listens to foreign media such as BBC,VOA and CNN on TV or the radio every day as part of her training. She described it as an "unshakable routine (不可动摇的惯例)" that she doesn't break unless there is urgent (紧急的) work.
According to China Radio International, a month before the two sessions, the interpreters are told who they are going to interpret for. They then make full use of the month to prepare themselves. They try to predict what kinds of questions might be asked. They also look at literary quotes that the spokesperson might plan to use when they answer questions.
There is no "secret" to the success of China's best interpreters. It's all a matter of skill and hard work.
