Lots of junior high school students enjoy sports My classmates and I had a lot of1 at our school's yearly sports meeting last week.
It was pretty 2 for me because I took part in the 800-meter race for the first time.3 I practiced running hard every day, I was still nervous on the day of the meeting.
My arms were shaking and my heart was beating 4 when I stood at the starting line. Facing endless runway (跑道), I felt like a boat fighting against the wind and rain. I 5 myself that simply joining in was a victory itself. I started to calm down (冷静).
Just then, the starting gun went off and all the runners rushed out like tigers running down a hill. By the time I finished the first lap (圈), I had used up almost all my 6 . But I had to keep running for the last 100 meters. I 7 I couldn't breathe. Looking at the runners in front of me, as they got closer to the finishing line, I really wanted to 8 running and sit down. But I encouraged myself that it must be a victory to keep going and it filled me 9 strength (力量) again. With my remaining strength, I desperately (拼命地) ran to the end of the finishing line.
I ended up in seventh place. This might have been a(n)10 achievement to other people, but it made me feel excited and proud. I have tried all my best.

Recently, "cloud tourism" has attracted millions of people in China. "Cloud tourism" refers to a new form of travel that depends on high technologies such as 5G and virtual reality (虚拟现实).
During the May Day Holiday, 250 million people took an online tour by livestream (直播) on TikTok (the short video app), Taishan, a popular channel, livestreamed the sunrise at the top of Mount Tai on May1st and attracted (吸引) 330,000 views.
China Daily made a survey of 2,000 people on cloud tourism. According to the survey results, 74.8% of them said they were willing to take an online tour and 59.7% said they had a good online traveling experience.
"I hate large crowds and long queues (队列), which make me annoyed when visiting museums in person," said Wang Bo, a museum lover in Beijing. "What's more, 'cloud tourism' helps cut traveling cost and offers more tourist attractions."
"Cloud tourism" has made huge contributions to the local development and a rise in sales of cultural products after livestreaming shows, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is part of life. After all, we can't win all the time. However, we can learn something valuable from every failure (失败). This may help us succeed in the future. So we must know how to be a good loser (失败者).
Failure is the mother of success. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the good side of it. Edison failed 10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn't work.
Losing is not very scary. So don't be afraid. We must accept our failure and learn something from it. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action to walk out of it. When we lose, think about what we did and how we can improve.
We should face our failure when we lose. There is only one winner in every competition. Some win, while some lose. That is a usual way of life. If we offer our congratulations to the winners and share their happiness, we won't feel sorry for our failure.
In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. It might be painful at the beginning, but there are many advantages. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they finally win.
More than fifty years has passed since the first satellite (人造卫星) in China was sent into space in 1970 From then on, many such inspiring moments were left in our memories.
The latest encouraging moment happened on May 30, 2023. Shenzhou XVI spacecraft successfully reached space. It marked the beginning of the Shenzhou XVI mission. This is also the first flight of China's third generation (代) of astronauts, and the first time a Chinese civilian (平民/非军人) has traveled to space.
There were three crew members onboard (在飞船上): mission commander (指令长) Jing Haipeng, spaceflight engineer Zhu Yangzhu and professor Gui Haichao. This is the fourth time Jing has visited space, making him the most experienced astronaut in China.
They have stayed inside the Tiangong Space Station for around five months. They returned to the Earth in November. They did spacewalks, provided help when other spacecraft visited the Tiangong Space Station and finished many science tasks in space.
Years of preparations were made for the moment. For example, enough knowledge and skills helped deal with problems; physical and mental (心理的) training helped to keep the best condition. Although it's the fourth time for Jing Haipeng to fly into space, he again with Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao received hard training.
The success also belonged to the team. Hundreds of engineers and workers were behind them, offering all kinds of supports to help them finish more tasks.
Double Ninth Festival is one of the most important Chinese traditional festivals. People climb mountains, drink chrysanthemum wine(菊花酒) or wear zhuyu to celebrate it. The (reason) for these things are told in a beautiful story about a brave young man, Heng Jing.
About 2000 years ago, in the River Ru there lived devil (魔鬼). He made people sick. Heng Jing's parents died from the illness, so Heng Jing decided to kill the devil. He went deep into the mountains to study kung fu and made (he) strong. After learning the devil would come again to his home village on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, he went back. He (lead) the people from his village up a mountain. He asked them (carry) zhuyu and drink some chrysanthemum wine. It's believed that zhuyu would make the devil scared the wine would protect them from illnesses. And (final), Heng Jing killed the devil. The whole village celebrated, because they (save) by the brave young man. That is why today the festival is connected with mountain climbing, zhuyu and chrysanthemum wine.
Because "jiu" can also mean "long", it's also named Elders' Day these days. It's a day to show respect for elderly people and wish them a much (long) and healthier life.
Respecting elderly people can be shown not only this special day but also in daily life. Please respect and care for the old around us.
