When 2 was growing up in Chongqing, I loved autumn. The leaves on the trees turned beautiful 3 - red, orange and yellow. 4 they fell from the trees, it was fun to walk through them.
Autumn is 5 time for holidays, too. We 6 Mid-Autumn Festival last month, and Double Ninth Festival is coming.
And of course, autumn 7 a harvest time. It's time to pick apples and pumpkins and 8 pumpkin-spice everything! Put 9 a sweater. I'm sure that you can 10 every moment of autumn!
You Only Live Once
The night she finished filming for YOLO, Jia Ling sat alone by her bed and ate five packs of chocolate wafers.
"At that moment, I felt so great1 a tired warrior(战士) grabbing the spoils (战利品) of war," the actress and film director said.
By then, Jia had 2 50 kilograms. She had worked out every day for six to eight hours during the shooting of the film. As a result, the cute, plump comedian(胖乎乎的喜剧演员 ) was gone, replaced by a cool, strong warrior.
When she appeared on the big screen with the new look, audiences were3 . They talked about her4 loss training and praised her determination (决心).
"YOLO" is short for "you only live once." It is the message that Jia aims to send to people through her new5 . The story follows an overweight and jobless woman named Du Leying. The 30-something lives with her parents and is disconnected (脱节的) from society. However, after meeting a boxing coach and taking up the sport, she begins to find her passion (热衷的爱好). This film is not about weight loss,6 is it much about boxing. "It's a film that tells the story of how a kind person finds her true self and learns to love herself," Jia said in an interview. "I hope the audience sees that she has become stronger, not just 7 ."
Jia also sang the theme song for the movie by 8 —"There is Still Time for Everything." "There is still time for everything. You are the most beautiful in the world. Don't try to fit yourself into those so-called rules. Don't9 changing something," read the lyrics, co-written by Jia herself.
"This is what I always wanted to say," she said. "There is still time for everything; 10 to love yourself."
"Hey, buddy. This bamboo is so tasty. What do you think?" These four pandas sit around a wood desk and eat together. Does it look like they are playing mahjong (麻将)?
The pandas are in Chongqing Zoo. They were born on the same day in 2019. Shuangshuang and Chongchong are twin brothers. Xixi and Qingqing are twin sisters. But they are different.
Shuangshuang is lively. Chongchong needs time to become friends with others. Xixi is a quiet girl while Qingqing likes to stay in the crowd.
Are there any hangnails (倒刺) near your fingernails (手指甲)? If you try to pull them, they really hurt. So why do we have more hangnails in winter? The answer is that our hands are drier during the season.
Our skin (皮肤) near our fingernails isn't oily compared to other parts of our skin. The weather is usually dry in autumn and winter, and dryness takes away oil. So when the skin becomes really dry, it cracks (开裂) and becomes harder. This gives us hangnails.
So how to prevent hangnails? Most people think having enough vitamins(维生素) can play a part, but vitamins are not as important as people think. Nevertheless, it's good to have foods rich in vitamins A and B, such as carrots, eggs and fish, according to Beijing Youth Daily.
Also, it's best not to pull the hangnails off. It may not only hurt but also result in more hangnails because the skin becomes damaged (被破坏的). You can put your hand in warm water for a few minutes and then cut the hangnails with nail-scissors. You can also try using hand cream more often.
The other day, my husband called me to the balcony(阳台). "Come, dear, look at that car!"
"What's up?" I asked, looking down at the square in front of our apartment building. A driver was trying to park between two cars.
"That must be a woman," my husband said.
"How do you know?"
"I've watched the car move back and forth twenty times. Men can't be so bad at driving!"
"What if the driver is a man?" I asked.
"I bet you 50 yuan that the driver is a woman!"
We stood on the balcony and watched the car. It felt a little silly. Five minutes later, the car was finally parked perfectly, and a man slowly got out.
"Fifty yuan please," I said to my husband as he silently walked away.
My husband is not alone in looking down on female drivers. On weekends, my friend Lily likes traveling around the city by bus. But she always hesitates to get on a bus if the driver is a woman. "I can't trust a female driver," she told me one day. "Women are not born to drive, you know."
"Sorry, but I don't know," I said. I go to work by bus every day, and I never think female drivers are any worse. In fact, they are often more careful than men. Research also shows that female drivers are 8.8 times less likely to cause accidents than male drivers.
There are not many female bus drivers, though. And in the history of Formula One(一级方程式赛车), only 0.26 percent of drivers have been women. Without role models, many girls may think they are not meant to be good drivers. But the ability to drive has nothing to do with gender. Women can drive well, too. It's time to stop making jokes about female drivers.
Have you seen any scarecrows (稻草人)? In the countryside of our country, some villagers like to set up some scarecrows in the fields in order to prevent birds from harming their crops. They think that this can play a role in driving away birds. In fact, not only farmers love to use scarecrows, but also some airports have installed scarecrows in such a developed technology today, which plays a very good role in driving away birds. Some people will say that birds are not fools, and they will come back to eat after a long time. So do the birds really feel scared? Can scarecrows really play a role in driving away birds? Not very — unless you're willing to put some extra(额外)effort into them.
While traditional scarecrows who couldn't move do work against "pest birds" (eg. crows and blackbirds), the effect is almost always temporary (暂时的). Over time, the birds get used to scarecrows who couldn't move and reuse their destructive (破坏性的)habits.
However, a few tricks can up your scarecrow's game. Researchers have learned that those with realistic facial features(特征)and brightly colored clothes are better at driving away birds. Also, moving a scarecrow around every few days often helps. According to several studies, flailing(大幅波动) scarecrows get the very best results.
①There are a few ways in which Chinese restaurants are different from Western restaurants. Chinese restaurant culture is broad and profound.
②Consider how Westerners go about eating at restaurants. Everyone always gets their own menu and orders their own food. And, since the tables are usually small, it is quite difficult to talk to—or even see—more than a few people during the meal.
③While in modern China there are many Western-style restaurants, the traditional Chinese restaurant experience is quite different from in the West. Usually, everyone sits at large, round tables where it is easy to see and talk with each other, even if it is a rather large group. One person orders the food for everyone, after considering the likes and dislikes of the other people in the group. Then, when the food comes, all of it is put in the middle of the table. Everyone then serves themselves by taking a small bit of food and putting it on their own plates.
④Just as in the West, people can choose what they want to eat. However, while in the West, importance is placed on the individual(个人) and having one's own preferences, in China importance is placed on sharing and community. Instead of seeing themselves as individuals first, and part of the group second, Chinese people generally see themselves as part of the group first and individuals second. Everyone still gets what they want, but it is a shared experience.
⑤Finally, since people are seated at a round table, everyone is treated equally. No one person is given greater importance over another. However, respect is still shown to older people or people of higher status, as they always sit at the far end of the room facing the door.
⑥China has many different styles of food and a wide range of ingredients and cooking methods. And so, when you are in China, you should make an effort to enjoy Chinese food as much as possible. However, you should also make an effort to enjoy it as the Chinese do-as a group experience-a time for sharing. family, and friendship.

A Chinese girl recreated a Dunhuang mural(壁画)
When it comes to Dunhuang, nothing is more famous than Dunhuang murals. A Chinese girl has spent half a year recreating a 2.1-meter high one, which has drawn public attention quickly.
Qin Yueyu is a graduate student, who is from the Shandong University of Arts. This mural is her graduate project, which is her partial(部分的) recreation Cave 159 of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. The mural is rich in color, with red and green as the main colors. The figures in the painting are lifelike and have the charm of the Middle Tang Dynasty.
Interest is the best teacher. Qin Yueyu has always been particularly interested in art. "The Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang aroused my interest when I was watching The Nine Colored Deer, a Chinese cartoon film, as a child," said Qin. The Nine-colored Deer is based on a mural discovered from the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. Apart from recreating ancient murals, she also has a good interest in culture, for example she has learned some knowledge about the protection of ancient cultural relics.
"I hope that I can make a contribution to the protection and inheritance(传承)of excellent traditional Chinese culture, so that people will know more about China's ancient murals," said Qin.
He chess.

Should we use artificial intelligence(Al,人工智能)in schools? Some people may say no, but many experts think we should use it a good way. They say AI can help us learn better.
Zheng Qinghua, president of Tongji University, said it's important for to use Al in education. He believed that AI could help us learn new things and get better at w we study. He also suggested that young people should improve their understanding of the knowledge created by technology.
In fact, AI has already become and more important for teaching and learning. Zheng stressed the widespread use of different models, such as Ernie Bot, an AI chatbot(聊天机器人) developed by Baidu. It can write papers, solve science problems and do homework.
Students also used Al for their study. A survey made by online learning platform study showed that 89 percent of had used ChatGPT to help them do homework,
However, some people worry that it may bring the problem of academic integrity(学术诚信)and bad influence on education. Iof simply using Al to give answers or finish homework and tests, people should focus on using AI to help students be creative and have the ability of solving real-world problems, said Zheng.
Colin Bailey, president of Queen Mary University of London, said that as ChatGPT develops fast, stopping Al from being used in schools is not the answer. Instead, we should think about how to use it safely and in the way.
To achieve it, people around the world are working on rules to msure Al is used in a good way. In the US, people are making a plan to protect people's rights with chatbots. China also has some interim measures for managing Al services.
