When I was 10 years old, I really wanted a new bike! I 1 my parents my birthday wish, but I knew there was little hope 2 my family is poor. My parents could 3 have that money.
On my birthday my parents told me they had my 4 outside in the back yard. I 5 out quickly to the yard right now. There was my bike, 6 it wasn't the bike that I thought it would be. This one was pink, old with age. 7 disappointing(令人失望的) I was! I thought I hurt(伤害)my parents' feelings because I could see the disappointment(失望) 8 their faces, and I was sure they could see it on mine. Although I was 9 , I got on the old bike and rode it. Also, I put on a smile(微笑), rode as fast as I could and didn't 10 .
As time went by, I began to know my parents gave me 11 much more than just an old bike. They gave me a life lesson about 12 . By now, I still remember this 13 because giving a gift is not about money. It's about 14 love you can feel from it. Do remember, the value(价值) of a 15 that costs two dollars isn't less than that of a gift costs one hundred dollars, or even more.

The moon was behind a cloud. And there weren't many stars in the sky. It was a dark night. I saw a glow (光) in my neighbor's kitchen. I thought he was having a night meal. So I went back to my bed.
Soon there was a smell of burning in the air and I thought there was probably something wrong. I jumped out of bed quickly and went out to make sure. I saw fire coming out of my neighbor's kitchen. Then I shouted, "Fire! Fire!" But no one in the neighborhood heard my shouts for help.
I ran into my house, called the firemen and went back to my neighbor's house. I knocked on the door hard and called out my neighbor's name, but there was no answer. Finally I got into the house and saved a cat and a dog.
I tried to pour water through the kitchen window but it didn't work. It was a big fire. Luckily, the firemen arrived over ten minutes later and stopped the fire.
When my neighbor came back, he was sad for his kitchen but he thanked me for calling the firemen and saving his pets. He wanted to give me some money but I did not accept it.
Weeks later, my neighbor had a new kitchen. He invited me to see his new kitchen and we enjoyed a big meal there. It made me very happy. After that, he became my best friend.

At 9:30, Rose said, "I hate going to bed. I want to stay up and watch a show!" At 6:00 in the morning, her alarm clock went off. Her mother heard her say, "The only thing I hate more than going to bed is getting up in the morning!"
What does Rose have in common with thousands of kids? She is not getting enough sleep. Have you ever stayed up late? If you have, you know that not getting enough sleep can make you feel tired and upset. You may have even noticed that it's hard to think clearly and stay focused when you are overtired(过度疲劳).
Need some motivation(动力) to go to bed on time? Here are some important advantages (好处) of getting a good night's sleep. After a good night's sleep, we are more energetic, smarter and even happier.
Do you like to play sports? It has been shown that football players, swimmers and tennis players all perform better after a good night's sleep. Your coach(教练) may not tell you this, but the simplest way to improve your performance is to get enough rest.
Do you want to improve your grade? Healthy sleep habits improve your memory and your ability to pay attention to tasks, making schoolwork seem easier. While you get a snooze, your mind is very busy so you don't get a good rest like a long sleep. Researchers(研究者) have found that it's easier to learn after a good night's rest. So, it's no surprise that students who get enough sleep get better grades than those who don't.
Science and experience have shown that getting a good night's sleep is the key to success in whatever you do. Get a good night's sleep. You're worth it.
With her eyes always feeling tired, 16-year-old Sun Run went to the hospital with her parents in January. She was shocked when she found out that her eyesight(视力) dropped from 5.0 to 4.6 in only 5 months. "A few of my friends have had the same experience lately," Sun said.
In fact, poor eyesight among Chinese primary and middle school students rose from 59.2 percent to 70.6 percent in the first six months of 2020, according to the Ministry of Education (教育部).
To protect students' eyesight, the Chinese government has worked out new requirements (要求) for schools. For example, according to the requirements, the size of text in students' textbooks should be no smaller than nine-point (小五号). Teachers should also avoid (避免) using projectors (投影仪) or other multimedia equipment (多媒体设备) that are too bright, Beijing Daily reported.
There are also requirements for desk and classroom lights. For example, these lights should give off as little blue light as possible. Blue light is bad for our eyes, as it can kill the photoreceptor cells (感光细胞) we need, according to Harvard Medical School. Many of the electronic devices (电子设备) we use every day, including our phones and computer screens, give off blue light.
Chinese government has also taken other steps to protect students' eyesight in China. In May 2020, schools were asked to make sure that students have at least two hours of outdoor activities a day.
Chinese government has made great effort to help students to protect their eyesight. As well, students should take good care of their eyes.

When you are walking on the road, what will you do if someone suddenly falls down? Help or not help?
because some bad victims (罪犯) will tell others that you are the one who hurts them. You don't have any ways to tell people that you are innocent (无辜的). People are always sympathetic (同情) with the victim you help. Then you may suffer from (遭受) huge economic damage(经济损失), which you can not afford at all. Some people may also suffer from pressure in similar cases. Gradually, people lose their smiles and love when they face similar situations. .
