How should you clean your teeth?
We all know that cleaning our teeth is important, right? Because if you don't clean them and things go wrong, they can cause you a lot of 1 and something uncomfortable. We are 2 from a young age how to clean our teeth. But the question is, do we all clean 3 in the same way? Is there a specific time or skills you should include into your dental routine (牙齿日常护理)?
When our milk teeth appear in our baby years, we are shown, often by our 4 , how to clean them. It is a ceremony usually along with some kinds of 5 songs. As we grow up, our baby teeth 6 , replaced by adult teeth. And soon, it's from trips to the dentist that we get more 7 . It feels like there are so many 8 tips.
University College London (UCL) studied 66 kinds of tooth brushing advice from 9 the world. The most commonly advised skills included circular movements (圆周运动) and horizontal (水平的) brush. 10 there were some differences. The angle (角度) of the brush and use of right movements were all changes on brushing advice.
And it seems that brushing for between two to three minutes, two or three times a day, 11 the best course of action. And if you're one of these people who think it's wise to brush straight after sweet foods, think again. Bacteria (细菌) weaken the enamel (牙釉质) almost immediately 12 eating. So it's 13 to wait for an hour or so before brushing.
So while there is not one standardized (标准的) skill, most 14 advised a mixture of horizontal and circular movements lasting for between two to three minutes, two or three times a day. Do that, and you might not 15 too many trips to the dentist.

New Year's Eve is always a good for people to be with family and enjoy a time of relaxation. But for 57-year-old David Bennett, the New Year's Eve was uneasy and life-changing.
Bennett comes from the US. He was ill with heart disease. Doctors reviewed all his medical records, and said that Bennett only had one choice for survival—to have a heart transplant (移植).
Surprisingly, rather than a human heart, Bennett received a pig heart. Don't worry. It was not a common pig but a pig.
Ten genes in the pig were changed to make it for the transplant. Researchers knocked out three genes that a human body can't . A growth gene was out to prevent the pig heart from continuing to grow after the transplant. Researchers also inserted (注入) six genes that control the human body's acceptance of the pig heart.
The transplant was the of its kind and it was quite challenging. Bennett said, "It was die or do this transplant. I want to live. I knew it was a shot in the dark, but it was my last choice." The good thing is that Bennett recovered pretty well after the surgery, according to his doctors.
Dr. Bartley Griffith, who surgically transplanted the pig heart the patient, said, "This is a breakthrough surgery and brings us one step closer to solving the organ shortage crisis."

Ip Man (叶问) is a martial artist and a grand master of Wing Chun (咏春). His eldest son Ip Chun (叶准) is one of the most successful Wing Chun teachers today.
In 1970, Liang Zhongwei was lucky enough to be able to learn from master Ip Chun and became one of Ip's first batch (批) of students. To this day, he is over 70 years old and has been practicing Wing Chun for over 50 years.
"My master is a cultured man. He taught me with strict attention to details (细节)," said Liang. From then on each day Liang would practice basic (基本) skills including the horse riding stance (扎马步) and striking a wooden dummy (木人桩) for three hours.
It's easy for beginners to get started with simple moves. But to move to a higher level, Liang thinks the key lies in relaxing. Nervousness makes people stiff (僵硬的). Once they calm down and are at peace, they can focus and throw a more powerful punch (出拳).
After Liang retired (退休) in the 1990s, he focused on promoting (推动) Wing Chun. He has taught more than 5,000 people in over 30 kung fu clubs across the country.
Liang encourages everyone to practice Wing Chun. He thinks learning is not just about fighting. People can take it as a hobby or as physical exercise. "People can practice Wing Chun with different goals," Liang said.
①Wing Chun can be taken as a hobby.
②Wing Chun is the best way to fight.
③People of different ages can practice Wing Chun.
④ Wing Chun is good exercise for people from all walks of life.
According to the traditional Chinese lunar calendar (阴历), there are 24 solar terms (节气) in a year. Major Snow is the 21st solar term of the year. During Major Snow, the temperature drops greatly. Here are three things you should know about Major Snow.
① ▲ The snow in North China may last a whole day, covering the ground and blocking (堵塞) the roads. People can see the beautiful natural scene of "ice blockading for hundreds of miles and snow flying through thousands of miles". In the south, snow falls and the world turns white. There is a saying about the snow, "A timely snow promises a good harvest (瑞雪兆丰年)." As the snow covers the ground, pests (害虫) living through the winter will be killed by the cold temperature.
② ▲ People usually lose themselves in the beauty of wintersweet (腊梅) around Major Snow. Wintersweet usually opens in mid-to-late December in some southern cities of China. Wintersweet comes from China and is greatly admired in Chinese culture for its resilience during cold winters. With pine and bamboo, it is regarded as one of the Three Friends of Winter.
③ ▲ Hot porridge can help warm you and make your body healthy in cold weather. In China, it's traditional to eat red bean porridge on the first day of Major Snow.
a. Eating porridge. b. Having a big meal with family. c. Enjoying the snowscape.
d. Admiring wintersweet. e. Making snowmen.
Parents with high expectations for their children are nothing new to Chinese kids. However, people often don't realize that children also have expectations of their parents. ▲
China Youth & Children Research Center did a survey on this topic in the United States, Japan, Republic of Korea and China. It showed that 83.8 percent of Chinese children want to be friends with their parents.
But the reality is different. Traditional Chinese values might be a reason. Respecting one's elders and the concept of hierarchy (等级观念) are preventing children from becoming friends with their parents.
Both parents and children should make efforts to create friendship in the family. As children, what can you do to create a pleasant atmosphere (氛围) at home and make friends with your parents?
Act like an adult. If you want your parents to give you more freedom (自由), you should show them that you're ready to be treated differently. For example, learn to use self-control. Show them that you can manage (安排) your time well.
Open your heart.US psychologist (心理学家) Carl E. Pickhardt wrote in Psychology Todaythat sharing feelings with our parents can lead to positive (积极的) changes, while not sharing them can cause misunderstandings.
Care for your parents.Do something nice or helpful for your parents. For example, help them with some household chores, make them gifts or teach them some computer skills. Their trust in you will grow.

Dear Mr. Li,
How time flies! I have finished my study in the middle school and I thank you both for all your help and for your teaching during these 3 years. I still remember what you used to say "You can be whatever you want." I'm so glad that you are my teacher. I'm glad I can do it because of your help. That was important to me.
You made your lesson so interesting that we all enjoyed our class time. You always tried to show us the right way of learning. When I failed, you would always be there trying to encourage me. You used to help me with my math so that I became more and more interested in it. Thanks for your help, I'm now the best at it.

I'm glad I'm a student of yours. Not only did you give me great advice but also great fun. You always gave me your opinions and taught me how to behave and learn correctly.
