The daughter shouted as soon as she entered the door, "This world is unfair! "It turned out that she was 1 her classmate while having a class. She was caught by the teacher, and she and the classmate were both 2 .
"It's fair, "I said. "That's not it! There were several classmates who were talking, but the teacher only punished us, "she said 3 . I asked her, "Should you be punished for speaking today? "She 4 but said at the same time, "It is unfair for the teacher not to punish 5 students who spoke! "I told her, "Don't talk about others. Just look at yourself. Was it 6 to punish you? "She answered, "No. " I said, "That's fair! You know what the 7 of speaking in class is. You did it and got the punishment. The teacher didn't punish others, because she could choose to forgive(原谅). " 8 she may not understand, she was not as angry as the moment she entered the door.
People are often clear about what they are doing, knowing what results should be. However, their 9 of unfairness comes from comparing with others. Once they find those who did the same thing but got a 10 result, they will complain about it, not considering whether they deserve the result. But fairness means you get what you have sown (播种).
April 20 marks United Nations Chinese Language Day. On this day, people around the world celebrate the Chinese language. Here are two Chinese learners sharing their stories of Chinese learning!
Mike Fuksman, US: I didn't speak any Chinese at all before I came to China. But I mastered the language quickly. One of the reasons is that Chinese is direct and literal(符合字面意义的). "Elevator" is dianti-translated character by character, it means "electric stairs". However, there are plenty of strange words, such as dongxi, which means "things". If you translate each part, it means "east west". Learning to read the characters themselves has been a challenge, but it has also been fun and made my life more convenient(便利的).
Alex Tani, UK: At the age of 13, I started taking Chinese classes at school. It was a difficult subject that could silence the classroom. But when I came to China, I found the language could be fun. After I moved to Beijing, I lived with locals. As a language lover, I tried to chat with them in Chinese. We also went to KTV together.
Singing songs is completely different from taking a normal language class. But this was where I learned. With every note sung, the characters began to make sense. This was an environment that made learning Chinese fun.
Everyone needs a role model in their lives to appreciate and push them to make a choice. Children from Sunshine Middle School are discussing their role models.
My role model is my neighbor Ms. Li. She is in her eighties now but she is still young at heart. I often see her riding her bike in the park and she also spends time doing volunteer work. She helps me understand that people won't be old if they still have a great love for life. Adam |
I miss Mrs. White most after primary school. She was our math teacher and always patient with us. She helped us to work out the answers ourselves, no matter how difficult the questions were. So Mrs. White is my role model, and I want to be a teacher like her in the future. Betty |
Norman Bethune was a Canadian doctor. In 1938, Dr. Bethune came to China and helped treat the wounded. He often worked very hard without resting. Once, he managed to save over one hundred lives in sixty-nine hours. He is still remembered in both China and Canada today. So he is my role model. Peter |
Yuan Longping is my role model. He is one of the greatest agricultural(农业的)scientists of our time. He worked to grow better rice to solve the problems of food shortage. It is said that Mr. Yuan has left us, but his dreams are carried by many plant and agricultural researchers. Emma |
As an experienced dog trainer, Du Linjia, 30, doesn't only "teach"dogs-he gives lessons to dog owners too.
With 10 years of experience, he invites owners to train their dogs together with him to change the dogs' behavior.
How does a trainer change a dog's behavior? "One common angry behavior of a dog is growling (低吼)at its owner to protect its food, "Du said. "In such cases, we need to know why. It may think that the owner is there to take its food, which we aim to change. "
"By giving the dog more food while slowly getting closer, the dog begins to believe I can be re- warded(奖励)for letting humans come closer. Problem solved. "
Du believes that a dog trainer should be responsible. The trainer must never give up on any dog.
Empathy(同情心)is important, too-a dog's worst behavior is usually because of misleading actions by its owner. One needs to think from the dog's point of view. Du said a dog trainer needs to be observant (善于观察的)and sensitive enough to notice small changes in the dog's behavior so that they can do what's needed in time.
"The future for dog trainers is promising. "Du said, adding that many customers are now learning how to improve their dogs' behaviors.
Chinese people celebrate Tree Planting Day on March 12. The date was chosen to memorize a famous Chinese —Mr. Sun Yat-sen. Many other countries also celebrate trees with festivals and holidays. Though not all of them fall in spring, these events bring people closer to each other and to the wonders of nature.
Peru(秘鲁)
Yunza is a celebration of new life. Couples take turns dancing around a tree with gifts. After that, they cut it down. Then everyone rushes to get a present. This shows a new beginning. People then plant a young tree in the place of the old one.
Morocco(摩洛哥)
Thousands of trees in a town produce many of Morocco's almonds(杏仁). To celebrate this natural gift, this town holds the Almond Blossom Festival every year. The date depends on when the trees are in bloom(开花). People dance, sing and tell stories until late at night.
The United Kingdom
Englishmen celebrate National Tree Week at the start of the tree-planting season in November. They also celebrate National Tree Dressing Day on the first weekend in December, aiming to lift peoples relations with nature.
The United States
In the US, National Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April. It is in memory of the great tree planting event in Nebraska. In fact, each state celebrates its own Arbor Day depending on the best time to plant trees.
We often have arguments in all relationships. But that is not always a bad thing. Sometimes we can choose to be in a win-win situation. What is important is how we manage the argument.
Treat each other with respect.
If your friend calls your names or makes fun of you, tell him or her to stop. , walk away and tell him or her you do not want to talk any more. Respect has to be won and if you want people to respect you, do the same to them.
Listen to other people patiently.
When everyone is talking, who does the listening? Listen to understand, not to reply. Listening in silence is sometimes stronger than arguing in vain(徒劳无益).
If giving in to others can lead to a nice result, there is no need to argue just to win someone else. After all, solving an argument doesn't have to be a tug-of-war (拔河).
In a word, we each should do our own part to deal with arguments.
A. If your friend continues
B. Give in when it is necessary.
C. When you find some areas of agreement
D. The following suggestions might help you.
E. Do not be too quick to judge what you hear.
F. The more you talk, the smarter you will become.
G. In this way, we can achieve a win-win situation.
