Little Ted likes music very much. He goes to the Music Club and watches other students play instruments every day. He wants to join the Music Club and learn to play the piano there. But all the things are very difficult for him because he has no hands.
Many people think it's impossible to play the piano with no hands. Ted is also one of them. But Ted's parents always help him. They find a nice music teacher for Ted and take him to music lessons every Tuesday and Thursday. At first, it's really difficult for Ted to play the piano. Now, Ted can play it well with his arms after two years' learning. "My music teacher and my classmates always help me with the lessons, and I make many friends there and join the Music Club now. And I must thank my parents too. They teach me a lesson—Nothing is impossible if you do your best."
①Many children like to go hiking. Why? Because they can relax themselves, see beautiful views, play with friends or family and so on. If you want to go for a hike, how can you have a happy one?
②First, the weather must be good. Fine weather is the most important for a happy hike. If the weather is good, you can do a lot of things, like riding horses, going bike riding, flying kites and playing ball games.
③Second, go with the people you like. If you go hiking with the people you don't like, you won't have a great time. So, find the right person. He or she has the same interest as you.
④Third, find the right place. Different people have different ideas about the places. For me, I would like to go for a hike at the seaside. I like to walk along the beach and watch children playing.
⑤Last, think of what you need to prepare(准备) before going hiking. To have a nice hike, you must have comfortable shoes, enough water and some food.
I was not a lucky child. When I was 3 years old, my parents found I was deaf.
They talked with many doctors but it didn't help. They wanted me to live like other kids. From the third grade, they put me in a school far from home where all my classmates had normal(正常的)hearing. So I was the only deaf child there. From the first day, the other kids often laughed at me and called me names because of my hearing helper. I didn't like my new school. My problem was not only from classmates. I also had trouble with most of my schoolwork.
One morning, in her maths class, Mrs Jordan asked us a question. She was a strict woman with a loud voice. You could even hear it out of the classroom. I read her lips(嘴唇) hard and got an answer.
I raised up my hand and heard Mrs Jordan call out my name. I stood up, but became afraid again. I could even hear the laugh from some of my classmates. Nervously I answered her question. I would never forget what happened next. Mrs Jordan smiled at me and said, "THAT' S RIGHT, STEPHEN!"
For the first time, I became a star. The three words changed my life. From that day on, I told myself that I would make a place in this world. It would be difficult and hard, but I knew I could make it.
a. I was afraid after I stood up. b. Mrs Jordan said three words to me.
c. Mrs Jordan asked a question in class. d. I moved to a new school in the third grade.
A. My future B. My daughter C. My family D. My home E. My work F. My free time |

I live in a small two-bedroom house which I bought two years ago. It's in a quiet neighbourhood very near the town centre.
When I finished university, I wanted to be an artist. But now I'm an assistant manager in a hotel. It's not a very interesting job but it pays well and the holidays are good.
I don't really have plans for the future. I've done what I wanted to do, like travelling, being a wild student, and becoming a mum. What more could I ask for?
I'm not a professional artist. But when I have time, I love going to museums together with my friends. I also spend a lot of time talking to people on the Internet, or just surfing around.
