Try to think about this:When you sit down and begin to eat a tasty tomato, suddenly the tomato starts to shout! It would never really happen. But a new study showed that plants make sounds when they are stressed(压力).
Scientists from Tel Aviv University did the study. They used ultrasonic microphones(超声波麦克风) to record the sounds of tomato plants in boxes. They listened to three groups of plants:one group wasn't watered for five days, another group had the stems(茎),and the third group was untouched.
The first two groups made sounds 30 to 50 times every hour. The third group only made the sound once every hour. "When tomatoes are not stressed at all, they are very quiet,"Lilach Hadany from the study team told CNN.
Scientists believe that animals and insects may listen to the sounds. For example, the sound can tell them that the plant is stressed and not good for laying eggs on(产卵). When an animal wants to eat plants
After the study, the scientists also listened to other plants such as wheat and corr(玉米). They made more sounds when stressed. Scientists said the study can help farmers better take care of the plants in the future by"hearing"how they feel.

People call Earth the"water planet". That's because the ocean (海洋) covers over 70 percent of Earth. It helps us in many ways.
The ocean is like Earth's lungs (肺). Also, the ocean takes in (吸收) 50 times more carbon dioxide(CO2) than our atmosphere(大气层).
There are some canals(运河) in the oceans. By using these canals, people can move things from one country to another. Thanks to the canals, you can have all kinds of chocolate from other different countries.
It takes in and stores heat(储存热量) from the sun. Then the water in the ocean carries that heat around Earth. Without oceans,Earth would be an icy rock. Also, the ocean helps keep places from getting too hot or too cold.
Besides, the ocean gives us different kinds of food. And we need to protect our ocean.
A. This is usually cheaper than moving things by plane.
B. We can enjoy lots of seafood and vegetables.
C. The ocean is very important.
D. It is easy to send things by canal.
E. It makes over half of the world's oxygen(氧气).

When you look at animals, what do you see? Li Lei, a student in the 7th grade, sees animals as good friends. But not everybody thinks this way. Li once searched for the meaning of the word "xiong"in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary (现代汉语词典) when he was studying animals. To his surprise, it said the paw of a bear was a kind of delicious food. He went on to look up "hu" and "lang" in the dictionary, and the results were almost the same. Li was unhappy."These are our dear friends," he said."How can we think only of eating them or making medicine (药) from them?" So he
wrote to the editors (编辑) of the dictionary and told them they should make some changes."I think it's better to tell us if an animal is a rare type and how many of them are 1eft." he added.
In fact, Li isn't the only student who noticed these wrong ideas. During a school trip to Beijing Botanical Garden (北京植物园) on Sunday, Grade 8 students Peng Yiting and Zhao Weike from Beijing No. 80 Middle School found many signs telling how plants can be used. On one of the signs, visitors can see the introduction like this- "The juice of the plant can be made into medicine and is good for the skin."
"The signs should also tell us to remember to protect wildfire (野生生物) while using it," Peng said. Zhao said many people needed to change their ideas about wildlife. He advised (建议) people to think what we can do to protect it, not just what we can get from it.
Did you see problems like these in zoos or gardens in your city? Then please write to the government and ask them to help people change their minds.
