Zhang Kai is from Heilongjiang, and he was a policeman in the past. In October 2021, Zhang and his volunteer (志愿者) team drove to Shanxi to help out. The flood (洪水) broke a lot of houses there, and people needed help. Zhang and his team took boats, medicine and clothes there.
In fact, Zhang just came back from Putian, Fujian before that. In Putian, he helped fight against COVID-19. And before working in Putian, he was in Zhengzhou, Henan to help save people after the flood brought many problems to the city.
Zhang started his volunteer work in 2020. In January that year, he set up a volunteer car team and took the necessary things to hospitals in Dongguan, Guangdong. One month later, Zhang and his team traveled over 1,100 km to take doctors, COVID-19 patients (病人) and other useful things to Wuhan. From then on, Zhang and his team kept driving to different places to help others.
▲ To save time, Zhang and other volunteers often had to sleep in their own cars, and be on standby (待命) twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. "When people need help, I will go to help them," said Zhang.
Start of Winter is one of the 24 solar terms (节气) in China. It is the start of winter. Chinese people usually have a big meal on that day. In the north, people love eating dumplings very much. In the south, people eat chicken, duck and fish. It is said that eating well can help people keep warm on cold days.
In the old days, the Start of Winter was also a time for people to store vegetables. At the time, there were not many fresh vegetables to eat during the winter in the north. There were also no supermarkets like today. People had no place to buy fresh vegetables in winter. So, around the Start of Winter people put lots of cabbages in a cellar, a room under a house, often used for storing things. They also make fresh tomatoes into tomato sauce (酱). It is delicious if you put some salt into it and you can use it instead of vegetables when you eat noodles in winter.
Chinese people are among the most hospitable (热情好客的) people in the world.
To welcome you, the host will usually make tea for you. Then, he or she will offer you snacks, like nuts or candy. They will never let you feel lonely.
At the same time, other family members will be cooking a meal for you. They always cook more food than a guest can eat.
The host usually picks food for the guests. They make sure that you enjoy yourself like you are at home. As you finish eating, the host will usually say, "You didn't eat much. Please eat more." Although you tell them you have had enough, they will still put more food in your bowl.

The first signs of it in teens are (poor) school reports than before, then learning difficulties and (stay) away from classmates and teachers. If you have these signs, don't worry. It is not so difficult to deal clinical depression. There are many effective ways, such as medicine, expression of feelings, more exercise and balanced diet.
High Mountains and Flowing Water
In the Spring and Autumn period (时期), there was a man called Yu Boya. He was good at playing Guqin.
One day, his teacher brought him to Penglai Island to enjoy the nature. Boya played music on the boat in such beautiful sight. Suddenly, a man on the bank shouted, "Bravo!" Boya came out of the boat and saw a woodcutter on the bank. Boya invited the woodcutter, Zhong Ziqi, to his boat. He played music to praise (赞美) the high mountains, the woodcutter said, "Wonderful, the melody is great! It sounds like Mount Tai, which reaches to the sky."And Boya played another piece of music to praise the flowing water. The woodcutter said, "Amazing! It just sounds like the running water in front." Boya was excited and said, "Bosom friend, you are truly my bosom friend."
Since then, they have been friends. Years later, when Ziqi died of illness, Boya broke his Guqin into pieces and never played for anyone. The Chinese idiom (成语) "High Mountains and Flowing Water" was used to describe the ideal of close friendship.
