The Starlink system, is a main product of an American companycalled Space X. The company plans to send about 42,000 satellites tooffer much faster and less expensive satellite(卫星) internet around theworld.
In order to send information faster, Space X has put built-inlasers(激光) on its newest Starlink satellites. With the higher speed of llight in vacuum(真空) and the shorter path than undersea fiber(纤维), the laser links in orbit(轨道)help send satellite internet faster. And by getting closer to our planet and networking, Starlinksatellites can quickly send a large amount of information to any point on Earth, even across oceans.
However, some astronomers are afraid that bright satellites in Earth's orbit will make themdifficult to"watch"the universe. And some scientists are worried that there will probably be morespace junk when the satellites are out of use or when the satellites hit others. The junk of course willbe harmful to spaceships or space stations. And when some of the falling junk burn up in Earth'satmosphere(大气层), it will cause uncertain changes in Earth's climate(气候).
Although the company promised that the satellites seemed impossible to hit others, the risk isstill there. In 2021, China's space station had to change its orbit to avoid the possible danger whenStarlink satellites came close to it.
So does the Starlink system really have more advantages to humans in the long term? Or willthe risks outweigh its advantages? We still do not know the answers.
I used to work in Robin Hood to help poor people. One day, afriend invited me to join his volunteer(志愿者) work in a fire company. As a volunteer firefighter(消防员), I had to get to the house on firepretty early to help out.
I still remember my first fire. I was the second volunteer to arrive atthe house, so there was a pretty good chance for me to save others fromdanger.
The captain was talking with the homeowner. She was surely having one of the worst days ofher life. At midnight, she was standing outside in the heavy rain, under an umbrella, without shoes, while her house was burning.
The other volunteer arrived just before me. The captain asked him to go inside and save thehomeowner's dog. Then the captain waved me over. He ordered,"Young man, go upstairs past thefire, and get this woman a pair of shoes."So, not exactly what I was hoping for, but I went up thestairs, down the hall, past the"real"firefighters, who were pretty much done putting out the fire atthis point, into the bedroom to get a pair of shoes.
I carried the shoes downstairs. There I met the other volunteer with the dog. We took otherthings outside to the homeowner. Not surprisingly, his received much more attention than mine. Iknew I was no hero at all.
A few weeks later, the company received a letter from the homeowner thanking us for savingher home. In the note, she said she was especially thankful to me because I got her a pair of shoes. Iknow it was not the shoes, but the act of kindness made her moved.
In both my work at Robin Hood and my work as a volunteer firefighter, I have seen acts ofkindness in different forms. Not every day is going to offer us a chance to save somebody's life, butevery day offers us a chance to affect(影响) one. So get in the game. Save the shoes.
a. The woman sent a thank-you note to us.
b. The homeowner was standing outside safe.
c."I"went into the house to get a pair of shoes.
d. A house was on fire one night.

3 then something happened. It was said that the trees would be cut down to build a4 . It was the first time she disagreed with me.
When I heard about the news,"That was 5 . All the birds and squirrels would lose theirhomes, so we must stop that."I said angrily.
"I disagree,"said Karina."The shopping center would make new jobs for people who reallyneed work."
"I want people to have jobs, but not if it means 6 the tree area."I said.
"Don't you think people's jobs are more important than trees?"Karina asked.
"Can't we find out how to make jobs 7 destroying(破坏) nature?"I answered.
"You know,"Karina said, super seriously,"Maybe we're not quite as alike as we thought."
I lowed my head in 8 . Maybe two people with opposite points of views just aren'tmeant to be in good relationship, I was thinking.
Even though I wished Karina agreed with me about saving the trees, I realized she had herreasons for believing 9 she did. So, here's how I think about it. No two people are exactlyalike. What's important is that you respect each other and try to 10 that they can have theirown different opinions.
