Do you think hard work always pays off? What have you got by working hard? Here is a story about how I became1 .
I'm a very smart person who has spent almost 10 years2 mechanics (机械学), but I have no formal (正式的) education. I always tried my best to make people3 me. However, I never made it.
This year I have just taken another factory job with a little4 pay than my last one. I was making $13.50 an hour at my last job and even had a hard time living. Although I was paid more, I still lived5 . But as long as you held on and didn't6 , you would succeed one day. My7 finally arrived.
Three months ago, my neighbor bought a used car that everyone thought it had some8 problems. After taking a look at it, I said that I would be able to9 . It turned out that I10 him $2,000 that he expected to pay to rebuild it. He was surprised at my work and told many of their, friends about me. So I got a lot of new11 .
In about two months more people came to me for work and I was making great money. Then12 I got a job through one of my customers (顾客). I was able to let them believe in me by solving13 problems quickly. They offered me another job that started even higher. I finally improved my life.
In one year's time I went from being in the worst condition to having customers begging (恳求)me to work for them. Now I can honestly say I feel truly proud of myself and my14 .
So everyone, remember not to give up your dream easily because15 will come to you in the end with your hard work.

①One day at work in December 2020, Archibald, a barber (理发师) in London, met a woman and talked with her. When the woman asked him what else he wanted to do. Archibald thought for a minute and then told the woman he wanted to feed homeless people. It was what he thought from the heart. Days later, Archibald kept thinking of the talk. As he drove away from work one evening, something in him changed.
②He bought some bread and 60 bottles of water. Then he called a friend and asked her to help him make sandwiches that night. Archibald woke up early the next morning and decided to hand out the sandwiches before going to work. He wanted to drive to London Bridge Hospital, but on the way, he saw a tent village. So he started handing out sandwiches there. The people there thanked him for his kindness.
③Archibald started having a moving barber shop in May 2021 and returned to what he wanted to do in that talk. But this time, lots of people offered to help and more homeless people got help.
④After that, Archibald drives to the city centre on Sundays to offer homeless people a one-stop shop for a shower, haircut and a meal.
⑤Anyway, Archibald hopes to help the homeless people across the country one day.
Are you a football fan? If so, you may have seen referees (裁判) show yellow or red cards. These cards have been used in football for more than 50 years. A yellow card is used to warn (警告)a player. A red card is for a player being sent off. If a player breaks a rule, he or she will usually get a yellow card. If a player behaves very badly or gets two yellow cards, he or she will get a red card.
A few years ago, the PFF (葡萄牙足球协会) introduced the use of white cards. You might think a white card must be for something even worse. But in fact, it is used for good things. The PFF hopes the white card will encourage sports spirit and fair games.
On January 21, a football match was held in Portugal (葡萄牙). It was between two women's football teams. Campos was the referee of the match. During the match, a football fan fell ill. Medical workers of both teams quickly went to help the football fan. After it, Campos held up a white card.
The card was for the work of the medical teams. Many fans cheered for the decision. Campos became the first referee in history to use the new white card.
Portugal is the only country that has introduced the white card in football. Do you think more countries should copy this idea?

Get enough sleep.
Poor sleep can influence our memory and learning. It can also cause accidents! Studies show that people who don't get enough sleep seem to get into more accidents.

Rick Hoyt was born unable to use his voice, arms or legs in 1962. Doctors advised his parents to send him away, but they chose to raise Rick themselves.
With great effort, Rick learned to write his thoughts with computer at the age of 12. One day in1977, Rick told his father that he wanted to run in a 5-mile race to raise money to help a schoolmate. Though his father never ran more than a mile at a time, he still tried. He completed (完成) the race with his father pushing the wheelchair(轮椅), finishing next to last. But that changed Rick's life. "Dad, when we were running, I feel like I wasn't disabled anymore!"
And that sentence changed his. father. He continued to give Rick that feeling as often as possible. In 1980, his father and he joined in Boston Marathon (马拉松) and together they completed32 Boston Marathons, they also participated in more than 1,000 other races. In 1992 they completed a run and bike race across the US that covered 3,735 miles in 45 days.
In March 2021, his father passed away. In May 2023, Rick died. Rick, along with his father, inspired (激励) millions of people with disabilities to believe in themselves, set goals and complete something unexpected.
