Do you know what makes people happy? Why do some people seem happier than others? Money, love or new things? The latest World Happiness Reportsays that having much money is not the main reason for happiness. If you have real problems, you probably won't be happy. But once your basic needs are met, money and new things become less important.
True happiness comes more from recognizing (认识) the things you have and enjoying them, but not getting more things. Material things like phones and clothes can give us temporary joy, but it doesn't last long. Think about all the presents you got for your birthday when you were little. At first, you were excited, but then you probably didn't care about them.
So what does bring true happiness? In fact, people with good relationships are happier. It's important to feel safe and loved by the people around you. But happiness means you have to give and take. Doing kind things for people, for example, listening to a friend in need or helping neighbors, can make you feel great.
Health is another key to happiness. Eating well and exercising for 20 to 30 minutes a day help your body release (释放) feel-good chemicals. So when you're feeling worried, try going for a run or eating tasty food. You will also find that you sleep better.
Talking of sleep, do you often wake up feeling terrible? If so, it's probably because you haven't had enough of it. Tiredness will influence your happiness level. It also stops you from focusing on (专注) your studies. So if you want to be happy and do well in school, make sure you get enough sleep every night.
Now you know what to do. Start practicing! Smile, everyone!
You may have trouble communicating with your parents. Here are some very useful tips for you.
Make a list of the things you and your parents disagree with most. Sometimes, you have to change a little if you want your parents to change. Only in this way can you reach an agreement and communicate well.
Your parents may have to work long hours and this can make them tired. Show your patience when you talk to your parents. They will listen to you in the same way.
Listen to what your parents have to say. How can you expect them to listen to you if you are not ready to listen to them? They can understand your situation better than you think.
Keep calm if your parents do not agree with you. Then try to understand the reasons behind. After all, part of growing up is learning to live with these kinds of disagreements, and learning to understand another person.
With a little hard work, you can learn to communicate better with your parents.
A.Talk with your parents patiently.
B.Your parents were once young like you.
C.Also, listen to them but never shout at them.
D.Talk with them and find out why they hold different opinions.
E.In this way, you are also learning to look at things in a different way.
F.With each of these things, find an answer that you and your parents can accept.
Gui Haichao is a university professor. His dream of flying to space has now come true.
Gui grew up in an ordinary (普通的) family in southwest China's Yunnan Province. His interest in space began at the age of 17. One day, when he was listening to the radio, he got the news of Yang Liwei's historic manned spaceflight for China in 2003.
With the dream in his heart, Gui started to train hard. However, the training was challenging for him at first. "I felt quite uncomfortable after the training," said the 36-year-old professor. "To improve my ability, I added exercise after the training," said Gui during an interview.
In May 2018, China started choosing astronauts for the space station project. Besides astronauts, they also needed space engineers and scientists. Gui was chosen as a scientist.
Gui is a sports fan who finds joy in long-distance running, cycling and swimming. "Every time we see Professor Gui, he is running in the sports field," said Su Wenjie, one of the astronaut's students.
In the eyes of people around him, Gui is optimistic (乐观的). Even in the face of failure, he quickly calms down and continues his work.
His classmate and roommate Wang Yue said that every night before going to bed, Gui would keep a diary.
