National Hot Tea Day is always celebrated on January 12th. Tea is the second most popular drink in the United States, behind only coffee. A cold January day (or night) is a great time to enjoy a cup of hot tea. To most of us, tea is a delicious and relaxing drink. And drinking tea is healthy for you.
Tea has been drunk for almost 5, 000 years. Its origin dates back to ancient China. The year was 2737 BC, during the Tang Dynasty. According to legend (传说), some tea leaves fell into a pot of water that was being boiled for Emperor Yan also known as Shen Nong. He drank it, finding it delicious and relaxing. Legend also says that he only drank tea after that day. Tea became popular in Chinese and Asian culture. But it wasn't until 1600s that tea was brought to Europe and became popular.
Let's return to National Hot Tea Day, and think about how we can celebrate the day. I've got a suggestion! Perhaps, you and I can have a cup of hot tea during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And we can even top it off with a spot of tea during the evening hours.
Have you seen the clay soldiers (士兵) in Xi'an's terracotta museum? Do you know the true colors of them?
More than 2, 000 years ago, Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China, ordered people to build the Terracotta Army. He hoped that the army would guard him after he died.
In 1974, some farmers found several clay soldiers by accident in Xi'an. After that, about 8, 000 more were found by archeologists (考古学家). Today, the clay soldiers in Xi'an's terracotta museum are light brown. But they weren't always this color. When they were made, they had the colors of white, green, blue, red, purple and yellow. Sadly, most of the colors disappeared today.
An area with more than a hundred clay soldiers was discovered by archeologists a few years ago. Many of them still had black hair, pink faces and black or brown eyes when they were found. If they were not protected well, their colors would disappear, too. After a clay soldier was found, archeologists used two steps to keep its color. First, they sprayed (喷) a special "water" on it. Then, they covered it in plastic.
Archeologists are facing a new challenge now. They are going to find a way to put the colors onto the clay soldiers again. If they succeed in doing it, people will be able to see what the clay soldiers originally (最初) looked like. It must be very amazing.
We can't put certain foods in the fridge (冰箱) to store. Some of them may surprise you.
The cold temperature will make it hard. If you have made sandwiches with the bread, then you can store them in it.
We all love to have tomatoes. The cold air in the fridge stops the ripening (成熟) process. And as we all know, ripening is what gives every tomato more taste. For best results, keep them out.
It needs no help from us. Putting it in your fridge will in fact increase the speed of crystallization (结晶) . This will make honey harder or nearly impossible to use.
If you haven't opened your watermelons, then there's no need to put them in your fridge. Research has shown that watermelons can be stored at room temperature. Watermelons that have been cut open should be put in the fridge. What's more, they should be covered.
Cucumber (黄瓜) enjoys room temperature. Cool temperature can make it go bad faster, so find a dry and cool place at room temperature for your cucumber.
A. Do remember that they must be whole.
B. There's no reason to keep honey in a fridge.
C. The fridge is not a good place for storing it.
D. Nothing makes bread dry faster than your fridge.
E. But storing them in the fridge will cause them to lose the taste.

The Face-down Generation (一代)
If you were born in the 2000s, you are called the oh-ohs. That would make you young, creative, connected, world-wide, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right? But what do other people think about your generation?
Some adults worry that you're more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the "face-down generation" because you use your phone so much. They wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family.
Other adults worry that today's youths are spoilt (溺爱) and don't want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by "helicopter (直升机) parents". They were always there to guide and help their children with a busy program filled with homework and after-school activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today's youths seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up? Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today's teenagers are better educated and more creative than the past generations. They seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities.
There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls' rights to go to school.
So if you're one of the oh-ohs, there's a reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation. Chances are that you do great and laugh out loud.
