A B. C.
I dreamed of being a football star when I was a high school student. During my first year there I was a very 1 boy. I was only 50kg. I joined in some football games but spent most of my time 2 on the bench (替补队员席). So I decided to do 3 . Drinking a lot of milk made me much 4 . Before the football season started, I thought I could make 5 succeed in being stronger at last. But I was soon 6 when I saw that I was still smaller than most of the other boys.
During one of the 7 of the season, the teacher let me play first. I was 8 and jumped up and down. But I still lost.
I lost many times. I hoped to be a 9 player. But finally I found that I couldn't make it 10 . For a long time I was really unhappy about this and thought about giving up. 11 as time went by, I knew that enjoying the feeling (感觉) of working hard was necessary. In fact, the 12 wasn't the most important thing. Now, my friend is celebrating for me in a party because I 13 a football game this morning. I didn't succeed before. It is the 14 time that I have won a football game. I succeed after lots of 15 . I never give up and fight on.
Studying too much?
Most people work or study from Monday to Friday. The weekend is usually a time of rest. But today's Chinese teenagers can hardly rest during the weekends.
According to a survey, 24% of the Grade 8 students in Beijing have classes at the weekend. Over 40% of the middle school students have less than eight hours' sleep each night because of study.
And this doesn't happen only in Beijing. Ji Chunying is a Grade 9 student in Guangzhou. The 14-year-old girl has to get up at 6:45am on Saturday. Then she has classes all the day. On Sunday, she goes to extra(额外)classes for math and physics. But Ji doesn't complain. She says her classmates all work very hard.
Finding time to have fun
Zhao Ming, 13, is from Zhenjiang, Guangdong. Zhao's weekend is less busy. But he still spends Saturday in school. On Sunday, after finishing homework, he plays basketball. "I feel happy because I still have time to do the things I like. " he said. Some students are much luckier. Ding Yi, a grade 8 student from Laiwu, Shandong, is one of them. During the weekend, Ding usually gets up at 8:00a. m. . Then she spends some time doing homework. After that she is free to go shopping or watch TV. "My teacher says I don't need to push myself too much. " Learning well at school is enough, " Ding said. "I feel pretty lucky. "
Skiing(滑雪) is one of the most popular sports in the world especially in Norway (挪威). It is the best way to have fun in winter. Almost everyone can ski. Children learn to ski after they learn to walk. Long long ago in Norway, there were no buses, trains or cars. People had to find a way to walk over the deep snow. Skis were the right answer!
Although they love winter, the people of Norway are also happy to see summer come. They enjoy the outdoor activities at any time of the year. In summer they swim and sunbathe near the beach.
Some people go cycling and go mountain climbing. Sail-boating is also very popular during the warm sunny summer months.
The Norwegians (挪威人), like people everywhere, find many indoor ways to have a good time. During the long winter they also enjoy movies. They like to read books from the libraries in all seasons. Family life is very important to the people of Norway.
When you sleep, can you know that you are dreaming? If yes, then you are having a lucid dream (清醒梦). This is hard for most people to do. Only some people are able to do this. Now scientists have found ways to help more people to have lucid dreams, Live Science reported.
Denholm Aspy, from the University of Adelaide in Australia, found that certain skills (技巧) are key to helping people have lucid dreams.
First, people train themselves to figure out (搞清) whether (是否)they are dreaming or not. People can practice a skill for this in real life. For example, someone may look at a clock, look away, and then look back. The time should stay the same. Then, they might dream about this skill while sleeping. But in their dreams, the time on the clock may change very quickly. So people know they are dreaming.
Another skill is to wake up after five hours of sleep. Then, stay awake for a while. During this time, repeat (重复) the words, "The next time I'm dreaming, I will remember that I'm dreaming. " Then, go to bed again to enter rapid eye movement (REM,快速眼球运动) sleep. In REM sleep, people are more likely to be aware of(意识到) their dreams.
Scientists found that those who used these skills had a 17 percent success rate for having lucid dreams. This was far higher than if they did nothing.
In a lucid dream, people might study a hobby and then become better at that hobby in real life, according to Aspy. If you might learn to play the piano in a lucid dream, you might play the piano better in real life!
Disney's princess (迪士尼公主) stories are famous around the world. You probably know some of them, like Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.
The Disney princesses are very beautiful. Princes (王子) fall in love with them at first sight.
But one problem about these princesses is that they usually cannot protect (保护) themselves. They need help from others. This is the old image (形象) of Disney's princesses.
Years ago,Disney made 10 new rules. Surprisingly, no rule talks about having a "beautiful face". Instead the rules are about good characteristics (特征) like honesty (诚实), loyalty (忠诚) and never giving up.
Princesses need to grow up. When they meet problems, they need to protect themselves.
For example, Elsa and Anna fight against the bad prince in Frozen (《冰雪奇缘》). They need to believe in themselves and their friends. Mulan shows courage (勇气) to fight in the army. Beauty cannot help them. In the real world, these are the rules you need to follow.
A. They also need to find ways to get away from bad people. B. But a strong heart can. C. In the end, they will have a happy life together. D. To be a princess you must follow these rules. |
