Every April, there is a special day in China. It is called Qingming Festival, also called Tomb­Sweeping Day. On that day, people 1 and honor their ancestors (祖先)．

Qingming is a 2 Chinese festival. It has a long history. It began over 2000 years ago. A famous poem 3 the Tang Dynasty(朝代) poet Du Mu describes the day: "Rains fall heavily as Qingming comes, and passersby with lowered spirits go."

Tomb­Sweeping Day has been a public 4 since 2008. On this day,5 bring flowers, food and wine to their ancestors' tombs (坟墓). 

They put food and fruits in front of the tombs. After that, they6 the dirt（尘土）off the tombs and remember their dead family members.

Stonehenge

Kwanzaa is a celebration of African American history and culture．It begins on December 26th and continues until New Year's Day, January 1st．

During the festival, a family member, usually the youngest child, lights candles(蜡烛) in a special candle holder．Each night a candle is lit．Traditionally there are three green candles, three red candles and a central black candle．They represent(代表) the seven Kwanzaa principles(原则)．The principles are believed to play a big role in building strong and successful families and neighbourhoods．In the evenings, adults share stories and explain how to follow the seven principles in daily life．On the sixth day, which falls on New Year's Eve, family and friends get together to enjoy a big meal．

Kyle, a third grader, wrote this about Kwanzaa, "When we celebrate Kwanzaa, we have many people at home, light the candles and have a nice dinner．We learn the meaning of Kwanzaa and remember family members．We say something good about them．Last year, we remembered my grandmother．"

In 1966, Dr Karenga created Kwanzaa．He was studying the history of Africa at that time．Dr Karenga wanted to create a holiday to bring African Americans together and celebrate their history and culture．He called the holiday "Kwanzaa"．In fact, the name comes from an African language, and it means the "first fruits of the harvest"．

I was traveling alone through the UK. To reach places that were off the public transportation(交通） map, I bought an old car, which cost most of my money. I couldn't afford to stay in a hotel, so I had to camp in my car for the rest of the trip.

One morning I woke up in my old car on a country road in Ireland and saw a single house. The water in my thermos（保温瓶）had gone cold, so I knocked on the door of the house. A woman opened it. I asked her for some hot water. But she wouldn't let me get away with just that! I was invited indoors. She asked me to sit at the table and have breakfast with her family. They filled my thermos before I left.

I was greatly moved. And I decided to pass the kindness on. The other day I met a young man who had been driving around to look for a parking lot. He looked upset. I was glad that I was able to point one out to him. His thankful smile was the hugest reward（奖赏）for me.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is very important in China.Chinese people usually have a three-dayduring the festival. They have celebrated the festivallong long ago.

A few days before the festival, people start to get ready for it. Sons and daughters will back to their parents' house as soon as they finish their work. Usually people who work far away return home the day before the festival. It's a time for all the family to get .

Linda loves her dog Davy. They went to New York City last Saturday.

While Linda was buying a newspaper at the train station, the dog got out of his box and ran away. The station was crowded and Linda couldn't see Davy anywhere. When Linda shouted his name, some people looked at her but Davy didn't come. Then she called the police. While she was talking on the telephone, Davy met another dog outside the station. While the police were coming, Linda walked around the station and called Davy's name. She didn't think about looking outside the station. Finally, a little boy said to her, "Did you look outside? I saw a big black dog when I come in." When Linda finally saw Davy, he was jumping and running with another dog. There was a police officer next to them. The police offer said to Linda, "I think my dog found your dog."

My mother is a very kinds    woman. She has helped  an African boy since five years. Every month my  mom sends him 50 dollars. He spend all the money on his food and clothes, because he has no money to travel or have a birthday party. This year, for my birthday party. 

I asked my friends not to giving me any gifts. If they  really wanted to give me a gift, I would like them to give them    some money. At the party, I got  200 dollars for my friends. Then I gave the  money to my mum and asked her to send it to the boy. I thought that he would is very happy.  My mom liked my decision and gave me a interesting  model plane as a birthday gift. She said it was important to learn to give    or    to help more people in need.
