I'm the mother of a five-year-old boy. "Mommy, where are you going?" Dave asks me when I am putting on my running shoes on a cold Sunday morning. "Go running, " I say. "Why?" He asks me in surprise. He is only five, but it is a question that I can't easily answer. I often ask myself, "Cathy, why are you go running?" I don't know, but something lets me go. So I say to Dave, "Something lets me go. "
The truth is that just before you run, it's still difficult to explain(解释) to someone why you run. Of course, some people run to lose weight or to be healthy, and these are good reasons.
Running is difficult, that' s because you need to persist every day. However, running is also easy to do. It's cheap, and you can do it whenever you want. There are over two million people in England running at least once a week. I'm one of those two million runners. I go running not to lose weight or to be healthy. I run five kilometers every morning. After that I feel great, and it's easy for me to do the other things. After my busy work, I usually go out to run, and I think it is the most wonderful time in a day. I love running and I will continue to run. I hope more people love to run every day.
There once was a king. He decided to do an experiment (实验) like a scientist. He made someone put a big rock right in the middle of the road to see who would move it out of the way.
First, some rich people walked by. They walked around the rock, complaining (抱怨) that the king didn't look after the road very well.
Then a farmer came over. He was going home with his arms full of food for his family. When he saw the rock, he put his things down and went to move it away. The rock was heavy. It took him some time to move it, but he made it at last.
When the farmer was about to leave, he found a bag lying near his things. He opened the bag to find that it was full of money, along with a letter from the king. It said that the money was a reward(报酬) for him because he spent the time and energy moving the rock out of the road. What he did helped others.
If you see a job in front of you, don't leave it to the next person. Instead(代替, 而不是), get the job done to help the people who come after you.
In a primary school of Yunnan, there' re over 500 students, but no one is nearsighted(近视). It's hard to believe. Three hours of outdoor play and no mobile phones or computers— this might be the reason why they all have good eyesight.
In the school, children eat healthy food and have enough sleep every day. During class breaks, all of them need to go outside. When the three sports teachers of the school are busy, other teachers will teach students to play basketball and table tennis.
To stop students from using mobile phones, the school had six public(公用的) phones for them to call their parents. Even on weekends and during holidays, the school tells parents to care about kids' eye health in teacher-parent WeChat groups.
Sun Fubiao, the primary school' s headmaster, tries his best to help students protect(保护) their eyesight, because he himself and five other teachers are nearsighted. "It' s uncomfortable to do many things wearing a pair of glasses in daily life, " he said. "I do not want the children to have the same bad experience. "
Now, people come up with many ideas to protect children's eyesight. Children should play online games for no more than three hours a week. They need to do eye tests each term. Schools can' t give homework to first and second graders. ____▲____ . But for them, it' s more important to go outside and play.
There is a story about Li Bai. He was not a very hard-working student when he was young. He often skipped school(逃学).
One day when he was walking by the river, he saw an old woman. She was working on a large piece of iron(铁).
Li Bai asked, "What are you doing?"
She said, "I'm making a needle(针). "
"But how can you make a large piece of iron into a needle?"
She replied, "I must work hard every day. "
Li Bai suddenly understood the importance of hard work, and he started to work hard at school.
