Several months after I was badly hurt in a car accident, my father sent me to a blind school.
That morning was the new beginning. I went to this school and I heard lots of children. My new teacher took me to the class where we were taught to write and type in Braille(盲文 ). I found it quite difficult.
"Hi, sweetheart, how is school going?" asked my father.
"Daddy, I can't do this. I try and try but I just don't get it. I don't know if I am ever going to learn to read Braille. It's too difficult," I cried.
Daddy just held me in his arm and said, "Do you remember that we went to the temple which is on the top of a mountain? When we were climbing the mountain, my legs started aching. I sat down and said, 'I can't see the temple. You can't see it because it is covered with fog. Although you can't see it, I know it is here. I will make sure you will climb up to it.'"
"That day you showed me that just you can't see something does not mean it is not there. So although climbing the mountain was difficult, I knew I would get to the top."
I was clear what my dad wanted me to understand.
I went back to school and started with new energy. Very soon I could read.
One of my classmates said, "You are lucky, you know, you have at least seen the world. I have just heard it. I have been told there are many colors in this world but I don't understand what color means."
After listening to her for the first time in two years, I felt lucky. And on that day I learnt that although the light in my eyes is gone. I must see the world with the light in my heart.

Rivers are one of our most important natural resources(资源). Many of the world's great cities are located on rivers, and almost every country has at least one river through it that plays an important part in the lives of its people.
Since the beginning of history, people have used rivers for transportation. The longest one in the United States is the Mississippi. The lifeline of Egypt is the Nile. To the people of India, the Ganges is great, but it is also important for transportation. Ships can travel along it for a thousand miles. Other great rivers are the Congo in Africa and the Mekong in southeastern Asia. The greatest of all for navigation(航海), however, is the Amazon in Brazil. It is so wide and so deep that large ships can go about two thousand miles up it.
Besides transportation, rivers give food, water to drink, water for crops, and chances for fun and recreation for the people who live along their banks. In order to increase the supply of water for crops, engineers sometimes build a dam(坝) across a river and let a lake form behind the dam. Then people can use the water not only to irrigate(灌溉) their fields but also to make electricity for their homes and industries.
However, large cities and industries that are located on rivers often cause problems. As the cities grow in size and industries increase, the water in the rivers becomes polluted with chemicals and other materials. People are learning the importance, however, of doing more to keep their rivers clean if they want to enjoy the benefits of them.
A. What if you win
B. Life won't be the same without you
C. Life isn't crystal stair.
D. There is a rainbow after every storm.
E. Focus on the future.
F. To give up is to live a meaningless life
The life has been full of challenges and difficulties. Life is not about the smartest person or the strongest person, or even the richest person. However, life is about having the mind in your heart "Never Give Up", even when you feel that giving up is the only choice. The world is waiting on your gifts.
①
You are important to this world and believe it or not, someone is waiting for you to enrich their lives. You are too important to the world to just give up.
②
You many feel that life is challenging you from time to time and you can't take it anymore. You may want to give up right now. But here is a thought, what will happen if you overcome the difficulties?
③
When an Olympic runner is in a race, he or she is focusing on one thing - the finishing line. You have to focus on the big picture – not just where you are right now. Focus in where you want to be. Make an agreement with your mind and your mouth.
④
One of my favorite poems is called "Crystal Stair" written by Langston Hughes. In that poem, a mother tells her son that life is tough, you will meet rocks and hard places, but the end is victory to those who stand their ground and ride the course.
⑤
Whatever you are facing, you can make it through. There is a rainbow on the other side of your situation. Stay strong, stay focused and never give up.
We all know that some things are right. For example, it is right to be 1 to other people. It is also right to look after the environment. Some things are 2 wrong, too. For example, we should not hurt or bully(欺负) others, nor should we litter. Rules often tell us what is right or wrong.
Rules can help the public make the right 3, and remain safe. Car drivers have to follow traffic rules that tell them the right things to do on the road to avoid accidents. Cyclists who give signals before turning or stopping help prevent 4, too.
If people follow rules without taking other matters into consideration, it will be 5 for them to form what is sometimes called a "black and white" view. For example, they may believe that people should always tell the truth, and that lying is 6 acceptable. Such people always stick to their views, even if it means that they may get into 7.
Sometimes it may not be so easy to know 8 what is right or wrong. Some people choose not to eat meat because they believe that it is 9 to eat animals, but others argue that they can eat meat and 10 be kind to animals; some say that stealing is always wrong, but others think that one does not need to feel so 11 when stealing some food to eat, if he lives in a really 12 area and he is starving.
Rules help us live together in harmony(和谐), because they show us the right way to 13 others. However, some people argue that rules may be 14, having known that rules change all the time, and that some schools have some rules and others have different ones—so who is to 15 what is right?
How will you feel if you see an e-library? When you walk into your local library and instead of hundreds shelves(架子) with all kinds of books, you see a modern room that looks like an Apple store with different kinds of computers. That is (exact) a new kind of public library that opened in San Antonio's Bexar County in fall, 2013.
A teacher says even if he loves paper books, he believes that it is time to have the e-library system(系统) now the world is developing rapidly(快速地).
While the library doesn't have any paper books, it will have over 10,000 e-titles(目录) for readers to look and even download(下载) onto their own e-readers. For those that do not have a mobile phone, Nook or Kindle, there will a total of 150 e-readers for readers to borrow, 50 of which will be (keep) for kids! What's more, the library will also have 50 computers for people to enjoy.
This is not the first time to consider a public e-library. In 2002, Pinna Public Library System was the (one) to open a small e-library. However, it was located(位于) in an area where most people did not have (computer), so the library died and then added paper books.
Are people ready for a library without paper books? Only time will tell. But it does work, similar libraries will be opened in many more places in the country. Would you be interested in e-books? Be sure to let us know by (mail) your comments(意见)!
