I've suffered with serious social anxiety and anger problems as long as I can remember.
A couple of years ago I1what I thought was a good plan of keeping positive: every time I became2about something I couldn't change, I'd do a casual act of3 Things like losing money or not getting a promotion saw me4goods to our local food bank(食品赈济处).

There is much to see Australia that you can't see easily in its natural setting anywhere else. A visit to Australia would not be complete without taking the chance to see some of these animals in their natural environment.
Bandicoot
There are several species of Bandicoot around Australia, and although occasionally they can be seen during the day, they are generally nocturnal. Bandicoots are small creatures only about the size of a rat and eat small insects and plants. Several of the Bandicoots around Australia include the Eastern Barred Bandicoot, which is now rare around Australia and the Southern Brown Bandicoot found in eastern and western parts of Australia.
Koala
Koalas are small bears like creatures that live along the east coast of Australia, with their habitat amongst the famous Eucalyptus trees. However, koalas only like to eat a small percentage of the Eucalyptus trees found around Australia. Koalas have hard black noses, with sharp claws and a thick furry coat and can grow to a weight of about 10kg, most of their time is spent asleep in the trees, which is the best place to see a koala.
Dingo
Dingoes are found in various areas across Australia, and unlike domestic dogs do not bark. Instead, the Dingo makes a howling sound that is very particular. Dingoes generally eat mice, rabbits and rats, although sometimes they can also attack livestock(家畜) when hungry.
Frilled Lizard
The Frilled Lizard is found in the eastern and northern parts of Australia, living within the bush. The Frilled Lizard frill normally hangs around its neck, and is made out of a flap of skin. When threatened, the Frilled Lizard will raise its frill making it seen more dangerous.
I was playing in my kitchen. My mom stood in front of me, hardly keeping the tears from spilling over. She told me that my little cousin had cancer. Hearing this, I went completely numb. How could this be happening? I had just seen her, and she was fine.
These things didn't happen to our family, that's what my uncle said. It seemed like the world turned upside down; just last week my grandmother had passed away. I felt like I couldn't get my feet on solid ground.
That's when my sister, Ella, came down the stairs with her long brown hair freshly washed. She sat next to me and smiled. Despite what was happening, everything would work out, her smile seemed to say.
“Mom, do you think I could get my hair cut tomorrow?” Ella asked.
“Sure,” Mom said, starting to wash the dishes.
“I want to donate it to Locks of Love” Ella smiled.
My mom stopped washing and turned to look at her. “Are you sure?” I noticed that Mom was holding back tears. This was a sacrifice(牺牲) for Ella. Her long hair was an important part of her.
“Yeah, it's just hair. Eventually it will grow back.” She said.
“All right,” Mom said quietly, smiling again.
Ella gave up a part of herself for a while. She let a piece of herself go to someone else, someone she didn't know. That day she became my hero too.
94% of 3-and 4-year-olds have been spanked(打屁股) at least once during the past year, according to one study.
74% of mothers believe spanking is acceptable for kids ages 1 to 3, says another study.
61% of parents take spanking as a "regular form of punishment" for young children, according to a different study.
Sometimes children do not do what their parents tell them to do. When this happens, a parent tries to help the child to do the right thing. When this does not work, the parent usually punishes the child.
There are many things that a parent can do. One thing that people have done is to spank the child. When a parent spanks a child, they will use their hand or a hard object to strike them on their bottom. This is meant to show the child that they have done something wrong.
One parent remembers being spanked when he was a child. His parents used a wooden spoon. When he spanked his own children with his hand, he saw that he put a red mark on his child's leg. He never did that again.
One problem with spanking is that it teaches the child to hit someone when they do not like what the other person is doing. Another problem with spanking is that the parent is usually angry and can hit the child too hard. Sometimes parents will use spanking for everything and not try other ways to get the child to do the right thing.
Many parents are not sure of what to do instead of spanking. Some people think that their religion tells them that spanking is okay. Some think that the law lets them do it. The courts say that parents have the right to teach their children how to behave.
Other things should be tried before a parent decides to spank a child. Telling the child exactly what is wanted from them can be one thing. Giving a child more than one choice is another thing that can be tried. Getting down to the child's level and taking a more child-friendly approach can help as well.
Plants are helpful to human: they provide us with wood and other products, they give us shade, and they help to prevent drought and floods.
Sadly, in many parts of the world man has not realized that the third of these services is the most important. In his eagerness to draw quick profit from the trees, he has cut them down in large numbers, only to find that without them he has lost the best friends he had.
Several thousand years ago a rich and powerful country cut down its trees to build warships, with which to gain itself an empire. It gained the empire but, without its trees, its soil became hard and poor. When the empire fell to pieces, the country found itself faced by floods and starvation.
Even if a government realizes the importance of a plentiful supply of trees, it is difficult for it to persuade the villager to see this. The villager wants wood to cook his food with, and he can earn money by making charcoal(木炭) or selling wood to the townsman. He is usually too lazy or too careless to plant and look after trees. So unless the government has a good system of control, or can educate the people, the forests will slowly disappear.
This does not only mean that the villagers? Sons and grandsons have fewer trees. The results are even more serious. For where there are trees their roots break the soil up—allowing the rain to sink in and also hold the soil, thus preventing it being washed away easily, but where there are no trees, the soil becomes hard and poor. The rain falls on hard ground and flows away on the surface, causing floods and carrying away with it the rich topsoil, in which crops grow so well. When all the topsoil is gone, nothing remains but a worthless desert.
How to Know Yourself Better
Most of us believe that we know ourselves better than anyone in this world. But a lot of people are still strangers to themselves. Why?For a person to have a well-lived life, it is important that he know himself good. If you are one of those who are striving to know yourself better, these steps will guide you.
Take a moment to write down things that you know "very good" about yourself - your interests, likes, dislikes, preferences, hobbies, strengths, weaknesses, hopes, fears, dreams, etc.By creating a list of your personal attributes that you are familiar with, you are keeping yourself in touch with yourself.
Take personality and psychological tests. This is another way to know yourself better. The Internet has a rich source of free online personality and psychological assessments and tests.
Know yourself better by understanding people's perceptions about you.Sometimes, you think you know yourself enough, but other people who see you from their point of view can offer you some insights how you act and get understood by others. Be careful, however, to balance both perceptions to come up with an objective view of yourself.
It's a lifetime process. Everyday you will be given new insights about yourself. Writing a journal will help you keep track of these new discoveries. Maintaining that hunger to know yourself better will make you more self-aware, opening up new opportunities to enrich your life.
A. Keep on learning who you are.
B. Remember that you are a worthy person.
C. By answering them, you will understand yourself better.
D. The better you know yourself, the easier it will be to love yourself.
E. Reflect on these qualities and find out how they impact your overall life.
F. Pay attention to what your family, friends, coworkers, etc. observe and say about you.
G. Not everyone is courageous enough to travel the path within to achieve a better self-understanding.
You will meet many people in school, in college and at work. They'll try to have nicer cars, bigger houses, nicer clothes. To them, life is a(compete)—they have to do(good)than their peer(同龄人)to be happy.
Here's a secret: life isn't a match. It's a journey. If you spend it always (try) to impress others, you're wasting your life. Instead, learn to enjoy the journey. Make it a journey of happiness of continual improvement, and filledlove.
Don't worry about having a nicer car or house or anything material, or even better-paying job. None of them matters, and none of them will make you happier. You'll acquire these(thing) and then only want more. Instead, learn to be(satisfy) with having enough and then use the time would have been wasted to try to earn money to buy those things.
Find your passion, and go after it(constant). Don't work for only paying the bills. Life is too short (waste) on a job you hate.
