Weaning his (明亮的,鲜明的) red clothes and speaking Chinese well, 62-year-old Gao Tianrui can be taken for any (普通的,一般的) Chinese man. But when we go closer, things are not quite what they seem. Cao's real name is Terry who is from the US Terry became (感兴趣的)is Chinese culture as a teenager when he (阅读) the Tao Te Ching by Laozi. Terry has spent 20 years in the city he now calls home. Now his Chinese (梦想) comes true becoming a (公共) volunteer. Life as a "Xicheng Dama" has even made him famous online.
Xicheng Dama are volunteers, usually (百万) of women in late middle-age who travel around the streets of Beijing's Xicheng district. Terry said that although he first saw the(组,群体) as busybodies, his opinion changed (特别是) when he was on the inside. "Day by day, I see that' it is a good thing for them to come out and help people instead of staying at home alone," he said
"I like helping others," he said. "I live in the hutong and my (邻居) and I usually help each other ... This is where I live, where my friends are and where l call home."
