    Laura loves contests(竞赛). She likes to win(赢).

    "OK, everyone." Mr. Perkins says, "we need a class leader (班长) for each month. He or she needs to choose a theme (选择一个主题) for the class activity that month."

    "It is a contest! I must win!" thinks Laura.

    "The class leader will do a lot of things," Mr. Perkins says. "Who wants to be the class leader? Put up your hands."

    "I have a great idea for the class activity," Melissa says to her deskmate.

    "I think Melissa will be a good class leader," says Laura. "She has a great idea for the class activity, and she always helps."

    "Thanks," Melissa says. "But I think you want to be the class leader."
