    There is a famous expression in English, "Stop the world, I want to get off!" This expression means a feeling of fear or stress, which makes a person want to stop whatever they are doing, try to relax, and become calm again. Stress is feelings of worry about your work or personal life. It is one of the most common causes of health problems in modern life. Too much stress leads to physical, emotional, and mental health problems.

    There are many physical effects of stress. Stress can affect (影响) the heart. It can cause high blood pressure. Stress can affect the respiratory system (呼吸系统). It can lead to asthma—a medical condition that makes breathing difficult. Stress can affect the stomach. It can cause stomach aches (疼痛). These are only a few examples of illnesses resulting from stress.

    Emotions are also easily affected by stress. People suffering from stress often feel worried. They may feel tired all the time. When people are under stress, they often overreact (过激反应) to little problems. For example, a kind mother under a lot of stress at work may shout at her child for dropping a glass of juice.

    Suffering from stress for a long time can lead to serious mental illnesses. Depression, a very strong feeling of sadness and hopelessness, can be the result of stress. Eating disorders (紊乱) are sometimes caused by stress and are often made worse by stress. If stress is allowed to go on, one's mental health is in danger.

    It is clear that stress is a serious problem. It has a great influence on our health  our feelings, and our minds. So, reduce stress—stop the world and rest for a while.
