I have always wanted to write. From the day I first started reading I became 1. Harry Potter came out when I was a child. And I found one that I couldn't 2.
The problem is that I am not a very good 3. Everywhere I go I have my little black book. It has no marks on it and it looks very common. 4, my book is my little book of dreams. It started as somewhere to write down all of the 5 experience I have had before or when an idea came popped into my head in a dream. They would all get written into my little book.
Now I bring it everywhere with me. It is more 6 to me than my mobile phone or my wallet. It is full of crazy thoughts or what the world is like. The world, 7, is full of strange things and incredible (难以置信的) people. Every day has something special and unexpected just waiting to be 8 a little bit further down the road.
My book is amazing because it lets me catch all of those tiny things and catch them before they disappear. 9 it has the beginning of a fantasy novel (魔幻故事), the ending of a love play, and poetry I have written in different languages. I never thought I would ever write poems in French! It is crazy!
For me, this book is more than just a lot of 10 on paper. It is one million different possible stories, in thousands of different worlds and made up of a hundred different thoughts. It is indeed my special book.

Well done, Javier, on all your hard work this term. You are always active in speaking activities, and this is great. I always enjoy reading your writing too, you have very good ideas. You can see from your marks that reading is not a problem for you.
Sometimes you still make small grammar mistakes, and I think you can improve your vocabulary. I suggest you should review (复习) many of the language points we studied this term.
The area you need to work on the most is listening. I know this is difficult for you. I recommend more practice at home. Listen to English TV shows and radio as much as possible.
Have a nice holiday, and good luck for next term!
Instructor's name:
Chess is called the game of kings. People have been playing it for over 500 years. Chess comes from an even older game from India. The chess we play today is from Europe.
Chess is a two-player game. One player uses the white pieces. The other uses the black pieces. Each piece moves in a special way. One piece is called the king. Each player has one. The players take turns moving their pieces. If a player lands on a piece, he or she takes it. The game ends when a player loses his or her king. There are a few more rules, but those are the basics (基本规则).
Some people think that chess is more than a game. They think that it makes the mind stronger. Good chess players use their brains. They take their time. They think about what will happen next. These skills are useful in life and in chess. Chess is quite like an exercise for the mind.
You don't always have lots of time to think when playing chess. There is a type of chess with short time limits (限制). It's called blitz chess. In blitz chess, each player gets ten minutes to use for the whole game. Your clock runs during your turn. You hit the time clock after your move. This stops your clock. It also starts the other player's clock. If you run out of time, you lose.
Chess is not just for people. Computers have been playing chess since the 1970s. At first they did not play well. They made mistakes. As time went on they grew stronger. In 1997, a computer beat the best player in the world for the first time. It was a computer called Deep Blue. Deep Blue was big. It took up a whole room. By 2006 a cell phone could beat the best players in the world. Chess surely has come a long way.
Everybody likes to feel that she or he is special. Sadly, many of us grow up believing that we're not special at all. We wish that we could be more attractive or better at sports. We wish we had had more money or nicer clothes. Like the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, or the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz, we think we're not good enough just as we are. In the film. The Tin Man wishes he had a heart. The Scarecrow wishes that he had a brain, and the Lion want courage. Finally, each of them realizes that he already has what he wants.
Nearly all parents want us to be the best we can be. They sometimes try to encourage us to do better by comparing us to others. They mean well, but the message we usually get is that we're not good enough. We start to believe that the only way we can be special is by being better than somebody else, but we are often disappointed (失望的). There will always be somebody out there that is better than we are at something. There are a lot of people around who may not be as smart as we are but who are better at sports. Or they may not be as handsome, but they are more successful. It is unthinkable for us to be better than everybody else all the time. Like the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion, we all need what we believe will make us better people.
What we don't understand is that often we already have the very things inside us that we look for. Our parents often forget to tell us that we are special, that we are good enough just as we are. Perhaps no one told them when they were growing up, or maybe they just forgot. Either way, it's up to us to remind them sometimes that each of us, in our own way, is special. What we are ... is enough!
—Of course. It has won high (赞扬) all over the world.
— (凭借) hard work and her wisdom she has achieved a lot of success.
—Don't let me (影响) you. Make up your own mind.
—I'm sorry. The reason I didn't go was (simple) because of the rain.
—That's true. Something must have happened to him.
—Of course. But (promise) me you'll be home before 6 p.m.

There is a famous expression in English, "Stop the world, I want to get off!" This expression means a feeling of fear or stress, which makes a person want to stop whatever they are doing, try to relax, and become calm again. Stress is feelings of worry about your work or personal life. It is one of the most common causes of health problems in modern life. Too much stress leads to physical, emotional, and mental health problems.
There are many physical effects of stress. Stress can affect (影响) the heart. It can cause high blood pressure. Stress can affect the respiratory system (呼吸系统). It can lead to asthma—a medical condition that makes breathing difficult. Stress can affect the stomach. It can cause stomach aches (疼痛). These are only a few examples of illnesses resulting from stress.
Emotions are also easily affected by stress. People suffering from stress often feel worried. They may feel tired all the time. When people are under stress, they often overreact (过激反应) to little problems. For example, a kind mother under a lot of stress at work may shout at her child for dropping a glass of juice.
Suffering from stress for a long time can lead to serious mental illnesses. Depression, a very strong feeling of sadness and hopelessness, can be the result of stress. Eating disorders (紊乱) are sometimes caused by stress and are often made worse by stress. If stress is allowed to go on, one's mental health is in danger.
It is clear that stress is a serious problem. It has a great influence on our health our feelings, and our minds. So, reduce stress—stop the world and rest for a while.

Many hundreds of years ago, a native (土著的) American chief named Shenandoah lived with his people in what is now the state of Virginia. Very l is known about Shenandoah, but the soft sound of his name was given to a river. The Shenandoah River still runs in a d valley (山谷) between the mountains in West Virginia, just as it did when Chief Shenandoah lived. There is an old story which tells how the river got its name.
A long time ago, many c before Europeans went to live in America, there was a great lake hidden in the mountains of Virginia. On a clear, starry night you could see thousands of stars s and dancing on the water below. The native Americans loved this lake, and because they could see the stars in it they called the lake “Clear Daughter of the Stars.” In their l the word for this was “Shenandoah.”
One day there was a loud crashing sound at one end of the lake. The lake began to disappear. Its water rout of the vallev through a break (裂口) in the mountain side. The waters ran on and on until they j another river, which today is known as the Potomac.
At last, the lake was gone. In its place was only a river. It is this way today. The lake is gone, but the beautiful Shenandoah River runs on.
