"Goodbye, kitchen!" As Kate whispered, she walked slowly through the empty house one more time.
"Kate! It's time for1to leave." said Mum. Before Kate got into the car, she couldn't help staring at their house again.
After they arrived at the new house, "So, what do you think of our new house?" Mum asked.
"Not as nice as our old one," Kate replied in a(n)2voice.
Mum pulled her into a hug." Kate, I know you3our old house, but we can't go back to it. Why don't you take a look at our new house? Maybe you'll find 4. special." she suggested.
Kate sighed and went out of the house. The yard was big with one huge tree. There were wooden steps nailed up the side of it, so she5the tree. On the second-to-last step, her foot slipped* as the board shook6she grabbed* for the last rung*.There she had a clear view of the7, especially the bedroom with a window seat.
Suddenly a large hole in the tree caught her eye. Kate looked inside and found a metal box8a piece of paper in it.
"Dear Adventurous One: if you have found this9, you managed to survive the shaking second-to-last step on this tree. (I kept meaning to fix that!)
"Now I shall tell you10I leave you in this note. I leave you my tidy room. You can see it from here. L leave you my window seat for reading. I also leave you this wonderful tree. With all that l leave you, you must be11.
"Leaving this house was one of the hardest things. The only things I can't leave you are the12I made here, such as the happiness with my family. l know you won't need them13you'll be busy making your own. Anyway, I'm going to create my new life at my new home.

Kate put the note back into the box, and stuck it in her pocket. "The first thing I'm going to do is14 that shaking step." she said as she climbed down. She really15beer new life. After all, this was going to be her house now.
