"A friend in need" is a perfect description of my good friend Betty. She always stands by me when I am in trouble.
Once, I was ill in hospital and she was the first to visit me and1. She spent the whole afternoon talking to me as I was quite upset. When I returned to school a week later, the year-end exams were three weeks away and I found that I2catch up with the schoolwork. Betty came to my rescue (救援). She tried her best to help me with my weak subjects, studying with me during the whole revision (复习) period. How 3 she was!
A second example was the time when I could not pay attention to my studies. There were problems in my family. My father had4his job. It was difficult for him to find another one. It was Betty who helped me out again. I poured my heart out to her. She told me that her family had their share of problems too. She promised me that all would work well again.5a loving sister, she encouraged me to focus on my schoolwork. "Don't let problems that you couldn't control influence6you can determine (决定)," she said. Her words made sense and after thinking about her advice suddenly, I was soon my cheerful self again. I told myself that in future I would not let family problems be the7for not doing well in school.
I feel so lucky to be friends with Betty and I am learning to be like Betty, not to be a fair-weather friend but a true friend indeed.
