Rather than choosing a well-paid job, Wang Xi, a graduate of Tsinghua University, has chosen a job that few would like to take.
Wang is the founder of VLOOP, which aims to (鼓励) people to use recyclable plastic bags in the express delivery industry(快递业).
"In 2018 alone, about 24 billion plastic bags were used as express delivery packaging," said Wang. "(几乎) all the plastic bags ended up as waste, which caused a huge (数量) of pollution."
During her college years, Wang visited places where rubbish was sorted out and processed in Beijing. In the (接下来的) years, she went on to receive education(教育) at Georgetown (大学) in the US.
After coming back in 2016, Wang didn't (匆忙) to look for a well-paid job. Instead, she started paying attention to the plastic waste problem caused by China's fast-growing express delivery market.
At the end of 2016, she set up VLOOP. She hopes people use the plastic bag that can be (重复利用) 30 to 50 times. And after the bag's lifecycle has ended, it can be recycled.
In the beginning, Wang found it hard to persuade(说服) customers to accept the recyclable bags.
(比较) with single-use bags which are free, the recyclable ones cost 0.5 yuan each. (另外), users are required to pay 2 yuan if they don't return the bag in time.
Although there are lots of (困难) ahead, Wang believes that her efforts will pay off one day.
