Most people ride thebus to get from point A to point B, but riders taking a new route in Hong Kongare only interested in sleeping. Ulu' Travel Agency, a tour company in HongKong, has designed a five-hour bus journey especially for passengers to sleepas much as they want. Tickets for the first tour on Oct. 16 sold out right away,The Washington Post reported.

Many people find it easy. But why? According to a website, there are several possible reasons.

    White noise

White noise is a kindof noise made by sounds with different frequencies(频率) together. Buses are often crowded every day with people going toand from work. Therefore, they are the perfect environment for white noise. Theymake continuing noises. White noise makes people feel relaxed and helps themsleep.

    Rocking movement

Another popular viewon why it's easy to fall asleep on buses is because of the rocking movement."The movement of buses feels like a mother shaking a baby in her arms. It isvery comfortable," Frankie Chow, the founder of Ulu Travel Agency, told The Washington Post.

When you were a baby, you were rocked to sleep. That makes you connect the rocking movement withsleeping. Sitting on a bus gives people similar experiences. That's why youwant to sleep. It's the rocking movement that induces sleep.

    Long periods of inactivity

Onbuses, you don't move around very much. You just sit down and enjoy the sceneryas the bus moves along the road. Basically, you re away from the things that keepyour mind and your physical body busy. This inactivity also slows your brain activitydown because there's no stimulus(刺激物) to keepit awake.

    Increase in carbon dioxide

Buses often get crowdedwith people going to and from work. Carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) increases when there are lots of people in a small place. Thethinner oxygen (氧气) slows the brain down, causingpeople to feel sleepy.
