Louis tried again but no sound came from his throat. He shook his head, sadly.

"Well," said the father, "I guess it's no use. I guess you are dumb. "
When he heard the word "dumb", Louis felt like crying. The father saw that he had hurt Louis's feelings. "You misunderstand me, my son," he said in a comforting voice, "______▲______". If I called you a dumb bunny, that meant I had a poor opinion of your intelligence (智力). In fact, you are perhaps the brightest, smartest, most intelligent of all my babies.
