There were some big wildfires in Chongqing last summer. Although they were1 ，we still saw many good people help in the big fires. Francis Stonier，a 43﹣year﹣old foreign2 from Southwest University，was one of them. He teaches English in the university.
The3 was very hot in Chongqing. One Sunday night，a forest fire broke out and started to spread. The local government called for volunteers with special4 and experience to join in the firefighting.
Francis heard the news and decided to5 . He said he had volunteered many times in Virginia，USA in the past. For example，he helped6 houses for homeless people after big storms. He wanted to do something this time. So Francis signed up（报名） to fight7 . His work was to make sure the chainsaws（链锯） that would be used to create fire barriers（防火屏障） worked well.
During two hours of work，Francis group checked about 50 chainsaws8 gave them to firefighters.
