Monty is a little boy. He never says hello to teachers when he meets them. He doesn't give way to old people in the street. And he doesn't feel sorry after losing friends' things. Mom is angry with him, "Could you learn some manners (礼仪)?"
"That's boring. Why not buy manners? It's easy." Monty says. Mom doesn't think Monty is right, but she still gives him money.
Monty leaves home happily. He walks into the first store and shouts (叫喊),"Hey, do you sell manners?" No one answers. He goes to the second, third and fourth stores. Still, no one answers. He comes to the last store. It's Uncle Tom's. There are lots of people in it, so Monty waits there for a few minutes. At last, he asks, "Uncle Tom, do you have manners to sell?"
Uncle Tom smiles and says, "My boy, you can't buy manners. You can only learn manners." Monty is sad and then goes home.
After getting home, Monty says he didn't buy manners. Mom just says, "You must be hungry. Let's have dinner!"
"Mom is the best. She makes delicious food for me. I want to thank her!" Monty thinks. "Thank you, Mom!" A very nice word comes out of Monty's mouth.
Mom smiles and says, "You didn't buy manners, but you learned manners."
