Recently, 16-year-old Cao Chenzhe from Taizhou, Jiangsu, gave 5, 000 yuan to the Disabled Persons' Federation (联合会) to help (child) . The money was for his brave act of using the Heimlich maneuver (海姆立克急救法) (save) a classmate's life.
Cao clearly remembered that day. One evening in March, he was having dinner at the school canteen, he (notice) a classmate's face turning purple as he tried to breathe.
"Oh no, something is his throat!" Cao quickly found the problem and used the Heimlich maneuver. Standing behind his classmate, Cao pressed hard into his chest (胸 膛) with upward thrusts (向上推力) . After (try) many times, a large rice ball came out of the classmate's throat.
Cao learned the Heimlich maneuver during a (safe) education class at Jiangyan Licai Experimental School. "The teacher showed us to do it and we practiced with each other," said Cao.
When talking about safety education, Cao hopes the students of his age can take it (serious). "Every student should learn to protect (they) and others in a useful way," he said.
