This saying is actually about a feeling of fear, which makes a person want to stop whatever they are doing, try to relax, and become calm again. "Stress" means pressure. It is one of the most common causes of health problems in modern life. Too much stress results in physical, emotional(情绪的)and mental(精神的)health problems.
②There are plenty of physical effects(影响)of stress. Stress is bad for the heart. It can make the heart beat faster or miss beats, and can also cause high blood pressure. Stress can make a difference to the respiratory system(呼吸系统). It can cause a person to breathe so fast, leading to a loss of carbon dioxide. What's more, stress can also cause stomach hurts. These are only a few examples of problems resulting from stress.
③Emotions have to do with stress. People who have too much stress often feel worried. They may feel tired all the time. When people are under stress they often overreact(过度反应)to little problems. For example, a normally gentleparent under a lot of stress at work may shout at a child for dropping a glass of juice. Stress can make people angry or nervous.
④Long-term stress can lead to different kinds of serious mental problems. Depression, a terrible feeling of sadness and hopelessness, can be the result of continued and increasing stress. Eating disorders(紊乱)are sometimes caused by stress and are often made worse by stress. If stress is allowed to continue, then one's mental health is at risk.
⑤It is clear that stress is a serious problem. It has a great influence on the health and our feeling. There must be many effective(有效的)ways to lowerstress. So, stop the world and rest for a while to lower stress.
