In celebration of the Chinese New Year, fell on Feb. 10 this year, an exhibition was held at a store in London. The showcase, running from Feb. 10 to Mar. 3, featured several female artists sharing Chinese heritage.
(organize) by Gemma Williams, author of Fashion China, the exhibition highlights the works of five artists from various parts of the world. Through their art, these talented individuals offer unique and thought-provoking perspective on femininity and Chinese identity in the modern time, titled The Woman and the Moon. These artists are from different places, with (locate) ranging from Chengdu to Taibei, San Francisco, and London. Their art (go) beyond traditional boundaries of high and low culture, as well as national and global perspectives. Taking advantage of diverse mediums, their work gains inspiration from the ordinary aspects of daily life, giving them (poet) significance. Their artistic creations (feature) female figures can be discovered in publications, connected to famous brands, showed in galleries, pushing the limits of art's engagement with society, popular culture, and fashion.
The Gallery's director, Williams, who has been actively promoting Chinese creations 2015, shared her opinion, saying, "Over this period, I (witness) a silent change of what it means to be a woman and the spaces women occupy in China today."
