Michael Perham (born on 16th March, 2000 in Hertfordshire, England) is a boy who, at the age of 17, became the youngest person to sail around the world in the 50 feet racing boat, completing his journey on 7th August, 2017. He started the world trip on the 15th of November 2016 from Portsmouth, England.
Just six days after Michael Perham set sail from Portsmouth, he started having serious problems with the boat, which he was unable to fix himself on the sea. He had to stop in Portugal. Just one day later, he set sail once again, with the hope of breaking David Dick's world record for the youngest person to sail around the world.
Michael met many challenges along the way, including rough seas and knock-downs in the Southern Ocean, terrible loneliness and fighting storms, but the largest difficulty Michael faced was the boat itself. It caused one problem after another. He celebrated his birthday in March last year among the dolphins in Indian Ocean.
Michael Perham has entered the record books after becoming the youngest person to sail around the world. The teenager already holds the record for being the youngest people to sail across the Atlantic, aged just 14.
Michael Perham plans to create the Sail Michael Fund to encourage young people to take to the water. He is also aiming to take part in the 2020 Olympics.

Jane Austen ever popular
This summer, the UK will honor its favorite writers, Jane Austen (1775-1817), by making her the face of the new £10 note. In the 200 years since her death, Austen has been getting more and more popular all over the world.
And yet Austen's works are so English that it's rather strange she should be so popular all over the world. Her novels are so of their time that it's strange that she's still enjoyed in this very different age. Her most famous works including Pride and Prejudice, the one which she is most known for are about the world of the English gentry(贵族阶层)in the late 18th century.
Most of her works is about young women of that time. Women of the gentry could not work so their chances of happiness or even basic living depended upon finding a husband. This is a very serious subject matter, of course, but the joy of Austen's stories is her ability to make wonderful, but also touching, comedy out of something so serious.
Take Pride and Prejudice as an example. Elizabeth Bennet is one of six daughters in a family that struggles with money problems. Her mother wants to marry off as many of them as possible. Mrs Bennet is one of the great comic characters of English literature.
The novel is developed by the love-hate relationship between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. The pleasure of the novel is reading how these obstacles(障碍) are overcome and how the comical and unexpected ending is achieved.
If we think about this story, it's clear why Jane Austen is still popular 200 years after her death, and why readers can still identify with characters from the long dead world of the 18th century English gentry. Although there have been many changes since that time, it's still the greatest challenge in life for men and women to find the partner of their dreams.
A new App has been used in South Africa to benefit (有助于)the relationship between wildlife and humans.
Roadwatch, created by the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT),is designed to let drivers record any roadkill they see on the country's highways.
It may seem like a strange idea, but EWT says that it could become the perfect platform for receiving important information. Information on where endangered species (物种)are living and the danger that they are under from traffic can help to inform decisions on conservation of matters (物质守恒)in the future.
People can use the App through Facebook, WhatsApp, SMS and Linkedin to report the species, location, time and date of the creature that has been seen on the road.
Wendy Collinson field officer at EWT suggested that it could lead to more people taking care on the roads and paying more attention to animals that may be trying to cross the roads. One of the biggest problems is with reptiles (爬行动物)and snakes, which she believes people hit on purpose, as they are generally seen as scary. However, they are important to the health of ecosystems, just as all creatures are and also need to be protected.
Emily Taylor from EWT said, “Roadkill simply hasn't been studied here. The road ecology and how many endangered species are being killed, is something we need to know more about. We want people to report as much as possible.”
There have been some other Apps to use in relation to wildlife spotting in South Africa, but most of them are about animals that have not been knocked down, including those helping to collect information of where certain species have been seen, such as in parks.
For me, living in Canada for 25 years, China is a new world that I have longed to explore. This spring, I c Yangzhou to be my first stop on a 16-month trip around China. Yangzhou has always been famous for its gardens. Athem, the Slender West Lake, one of the battractions in the city, was my first stop. The park with its fantastic landscape and lots of history has enough to keep a tbusy for the whole day. What a shame I simply could ahalf a day!
My next stop was He Garden, one of the best protected gardens in Yangzhou. It was once owned by the family of He Zhidao in Qing Dynasty. He Zhidao successfully brought Chinese and Warchitectural(建筑的) features together.
Yangzhou is also the starting point of the Grand Canal tour. Taking a boat along the part of the canal in Yangzhou, I was amazed at the liveliness of this ancient waterway and the chistory and culture.
Luckily, my two-day trip to Yangzhou was filled with pand wonder. It made me hungry for more China.
Different Stresses As a Teenager
As a teenager, there are so many stresses in your life and so many things are changing . For example, your body is changing. When you observe yourself changing, you may not always be happy with what you see. Remember that everyone goes through these changes. Be proud of your body because it's bringing you closer to being an adult.
Another difficulty that a teenager faces is how to deal with social groups. You want to fit in but sometimes it's difficult to break into certain groups. In this case, you can speak to members of the group individually(分别地)and if they accept you, great; if not, leave it alone. If you try too hard to get into a group, they'll be more likely to refuse you more, for fun. What's more, it's better to stay with those who like the way you are.
Teenagers may also have stresses in school. Teachers are going to prepare you for the outside world, which means you'll have more schoolwork. At this time, you'd better take a step back and relax. After all, they just want you to succeed. In the real world, no one will tell you what to do, so take your time and make good use of it. If you have any problems, you can share them with your teacher.
Besides all the requirements at school, you may have more at home. If your parents have high expectations for you, you may feel stress from different areas. But remember they just want the best for you. If your parents aren't interested in how your study is or who your friends are, you can find another adult like a teacher to believe in. If you get support from people you trust, your hard times will be over.
