—_______ day is possible. I'm free the whole week.
Many of us enjoy watching animals in the world. But do you know what they can teach us?
Geese (雁), for example, teach a very good lesson about1In autumn, geese fly to the warm south to2 the cold winter. They lift off in no order.Yet 3 they form a V shape, with one bird leading the group.
This V shape allows geese to4energy.When the front bird moves its wings up and down, the resulting force (合力) of the air lifts the next one. This continues down the line. The bird5 has the hardest job. When it gets 6it moves behind, and another bird moves into the lead.By sharing the role, the group can travel long ways. Geese flying in a V shape can fly 70 percent farther without7 than birds flying alone.
During the long flying journey, geese communicate with one another. They honk (鸣叫) to 8 the birds up front to keep up the speed. They also cheer each other up 9 working toward a common goal.
What have we learned from the lovely geese's experience and skills?
10 together! Whether it is our personal lives or our jobs, we need other people. We need the spirit of teamwork!
Dear Sir or Madam.
One of the teachers at my school in New York tells me that your school has summer course. I am planning to go to Beijing next summer and would like to take a short one-month course.
I am 18 years old and have been studying Chinese for six years. I was born in the USA and have never been to China before. I am going to study Chinese at the university. I think the course will help me improve my Chinese.
Could you send me a catalogue(目录) and application form (申请表)? I would also like information about Beijing and other places nearby. I hope to do some travelling when the course is over.
Thank you! I am looking forward to your reply
Very truly yours,
Jim Green
There was once a man called Mr. Flowers, and flowers were his only joy in life. He spent all his free time in one of his four glass-houses and grew flowers of every color, with long and difficult names, for competitions(比赛). He tried to grow a rose of a new color to win the silver cup(银杯)for the Rose of the Year.
Mr. Flowers' glass-houses were very near to a middle school. Boys of around thirteen of age were often tempted(引诱)to throw a stone or two at one of Mr. Flowers' glass-houses. So Mr. Flowers did his best to be in or near his glass-houses at the beginning and end of the school day.
But it was not always possible to be on watch at those times. Mr. Flowers had tried in many ways to protect his glass, but nothing that he had done had been useful. He had been to school to report to the headmaster; but this had not done any good. He had tried to drive away the boys that threw stones into his garden; but the boys could run faster than he could, and they laughed at him from far away. He had even picked up all the stones that he could find around his garden, so that the boys would have nothing to throw; but they soon found others.
At last Mr. Flowers had a good idea. He put up a large notice(布告)made of good, strong wood, some meters away from the glass-houses. On it he had written the words: DO NOT THROW STONES AT THIS NOTICE. After this, Mr. Flowers had no further trouble; the boys were much more tempted to throw stones at the notice than at the glass-houses.

When I was young, my mother used to give the family something special for meals. She once put some burnt bread in front of my dad. To my my dad just took his bread, smiled at my mother and then turned to ask me my day at school was. I've forgotten what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him put some butter on that bread. He ate it up as .
After dinner, my mum said sorry to my dad for burning the bread. And I will never forget what he said, “I burnt bread, dear. It doesn't matter at all. ”
That night, I asked dad if he really liked his bread burnt. He took me in the arms and said, “Your mum worked very hard all day. She's really .And you see—a bit of burnt food never hurt!”
Now I know life is not perfect. Nobody is perfect,. As for me, I often forget birthdays or some other special . But I've learned something important over these years. What we really need is the understanding of each other, whether between a husband and a parent and child or just between two friends. This is the key a happy life.
So don't get angry if the bread gets burnt. Remember, burnt bread never hurt anyone. Be to those around you and a happier life will surely come closer to you.
