During my first year at university, I decided to go on a trip in the summer vacation.
In August, I packed my bags and flew to El Salvador, in Central America. When I arrived, I was1by the culture that took my breath away at once. I travelled across the beautiful countryside and enjoyed the 2sight. As I got to know more local people, I came to see the poverty (贫困)and despair (绝望) there.
I continued my 3and went to an orphanage (孤儿院).The local people I met there did4me. They could give you their piece of 5 and even their only shoes. The trip made me think a lot about 6and the world that we live in. The people in El Salvador 7me that although there is so much despair and poverty in the world, the good people in the world are still 8 .
Sometimes we are not able to see them because of the bad things that we see and hear almost every day.
The trip lit a fire in my 9that I continue to carry with me in all parts of my life. I will 10 it forever.
Please help us protect works of art on show in the galleries by following the rules. We wish your help would keep the art safe so that it may be enjoyed by more people.
Do not touch works of art. Your touch, even the slightest touch, can damage the surface of a painting. Use only pencils. If an accident happens, a pencil mark is easier to be removed than a pen mark. We are happy to provide a pencil if you would like to write or draw during your museum visit. Be careful about your pencil when you use it. It can destroy the works of art. No leaning on walls or cases. It helps works of art hang on the walls or display in cases safe. Feel free to sit on the benches or the floor as you talk, write or draw. No food or drinks. Both of them aren't allowed in the galleries. Photography Photography is allowed only after you fill out a photo release form at the Visitor Services Desk, Only works of art owned by Budapest College can be photographed. No flash photography is allowed because the light damages the art. |
Thank you for following these rules to help keep the art safe!
Which of the following signs is NOT mentioned in the passage?
Years ago, there was an old man who loved his young son very much. And the old man had a lot of art collections, such as the works by Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and many others.
As war broke out in their nation, the son became a soldier and left to serve his country. Only a few weeks later, the old man received a message that his son died in the war.
On Christmas morning, a soldier knocked on the door and said, “I am a friend of your son. He saved my life before he died. I am also an artist, and I want to give you this painting that I drew in the war.” It was a portrait (画像) of the man's son.
The old man told his neighbors it was the greatest gift he had ever received. The following spring, the old man became ill and passed away. According to the will of the old man, all of the art works would be sold at an auction (拍卖会) on Christmas Day, the day he had received his greatest gift.
On Christmas Day the auction began with the portrait of the old man's son, The auctioneer (拍卖师) asked for an opening bid (竞价), but the room was silent. Finally, a friend of the old man said, “Will I take $10 for the painting? That's all I have.” The gavel (小木槌) fell.
The auctioneer looked at the audience and announced that the auction was over. He explained, “It is very easy. According to the will of the father, whoever takes the portrait of his son gets all his art collections.”
Teenagers who switch off the TV and sit down to family meals are less likely to suffer eating disorders (饮食紊乱). A study has showed that eating together will lower rates of eating too much and eating too little. Younger people who eat round the table are less likely to take up smoking to lose weight.
Researcher Barbara Fiese said, “The common belief is that teens don't want to be around their parents very much, and that teens are just too busy for regular meals with the family.” Actually, their parents have the most responsibility for it. “Parents may not be able to get their families together around the table seven days a week, but if they can arrange three family meals a week, they will protect their teens' health in effective ways,” she advised.
Professor Fiese found that teenagers who ate at least five meals a week with their families were 35 percent less likely to be “disordered eaters' Even three family meals a week worked, with young people 12 percent less likely to be overweight than those who ate with their families less often. They were also 24 percent more likely to eat healthy food and have healthy eating habits than those who didn't share three meals with their families.
Family meals are good for developing the relationship between teenagers and their parents. Teenagers can also use family meals as a time to get their thoughts known by their parents.

Stephen Hawking is one of the most famous scientists in the world. He was born in 1942. He's a famous scientist and expert on space and time. Stephen is trying to find the answers to some very big questions, such as: how did the universe begin? How will it end? These questions are very hard for us to understand. But they are very important and can tell us many things about the universe.
Stephen studied Maths and science when he was a student at university. Then, at the age of twenty-one, he became sick. He was so young, but the doctors said to his family, “He has only two more years to live.” As a matter of fact, the doctors were wrong — he didn't die. He can't walk now but he uses a wheelchair. He can't feed himself and get in or out of bed himself. But he refuses to give in. He talks with the help of a computer. After Oxford, Stephen went to Cambridge University. Three years later, in 1965, he became a Doctor of Philosophy.
Because of his serious health problem, it was difficult for him to draw diagrams (图表) or write. So he started to think in pictures. With this new way of thinking, he became one of the most famous scientists in the world. In 1981, he met the Pope (教皇) in Rome. They talked about his ideas. Then in 1988, he wrote his first important book, A Brief History of Time. It was sold more than 5.5 million copies in 33 different languages. He was once invited to China. He impressed us with his self-confidence and humorous conversation.

Every single one of us can help to deal with climate change and prepare for the effects.
