—Oh, I'd like a large bowl of tomato noodles.
When I was a teenager growing up in France, I wanted to leave school and have my own life. The only way I could 1 this was to work in the local paper factory in my town, or get married. I was very nervous when I told my 2I wanted to leave school. I thought he would say, "3. You are going to college." I was very 4 when he said, "OK. Let's go to the paper factory."
Two days later, 5 took me to the factory. I imagined everyone to be friends 6 together and having fun. I even imagined there would be music and singing. I 7 I had watched too many movies as a teenager.
When we 8 the factory gates, my father spoke to the guard(门卫) and one minute later we were 9. I walked around the factory looking at the building, the workers, and listening to the noise. It was 10. I ran back to my father and said, "I want to go home."
He asked me, "What do you think of the 11?"
"Too bad," I answered.
"And marriage is even 12!" he said.
I went back to school the next day thinking about studying hard13 I could get into a good college. I 14 studying English so I decided to major in(主修) languages at college. Thanks to my father and our 15to the paper factory, I now work at the United Nations and my father is very proud of me. I married a very good man and my life is much better than it would have been working in the factory!

I had been in London for two years. During the time I was there, my strong wish was to go back home instead of in the city I didn't know well.
So when the day came for my . I had a strange feeling and my mind was full of beautiful things in London—-the tall trees around my , the clean streets, the school library, the old church near the school and so on. I was for the first time not sure I really wish to go. I was becoming good at spoken English and interested in the different way of living in London.
Most important of all. I did not want to leave my who were near and dear to me during the two long years. I felt like running into the head teacher's office and telling him that I really didn't want to go home. But on the second thought I stopped myself the plan. My parents are quite old and I might have no time to see them again if I gave up this plan. At the airport, most of my teachers and friends came to see me off and quite a few gave me . Many group photos were taken and before long the final moment came. Everyone shook hands with me and said goodbye to me. Their eyes were filled with and I knew they were at the moment.

Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black president, died on Decembr5, 2013 at 95.
Mandela was born on July 18, 1918. He grew up in a poor village in South Africa. At school, Mandela learned about African history and the fight against racism(种族歧视).He wanted to help his countrymen. Later Mandela studied law at a university. He also joined a group that fought against apartheid(种族隔离).At that time, in South Africa, blacks were not allowed to use the same public toilets or chairs as whites, and they couldn't travel on the same buses as whites, either. Mandela hated this and he traveled all over South Africa and fought to end apartheid. As a result, he was put into prison(监狱) and stayed about 27 years there.
On February 10, 1990, South African President F.W. de Klerk released(释放)Mandela from prison, and the two worked together to end apartheid. Three years later, they won the Nobel Peace Prize,
In1994, Mandela became President of South Africa. One year later, he created the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, a charity that helps poor South African children." Children are the future of our country," he said in an interview in2002. "They must be given love."
Mandela served as President until 1999. He worked to improve housing and education for the country's large black population.
Steven Jobs, the designer of Apple Computer, was not clever when he was in school. At that time, he was not a good student and he always made troubles. When he went into college, he didn't change a lot. Then he dropped out(退学). But he was full of new ideas.
After he left college, Steven worked as a video game designer. He worked there for only several months and then he went to India. He hoped that the trip would give him some new ideas and give him a change in life.
Steven lived on a farm in California for a year after he returned from India.
In 1975, he began to make a new type of computer. He designed the Apple Computer with his friend in his garage(汽车库). He chose the name "Apple" just because it could help him to remember a happy summer he once spent in an apple tree garden.
His Apple Computer was such a great success that Steven soon became famous all over the world.
Can plants eat people? Probably not, but there are many plants that eat meat. Some of them are big. And they can eat small animals. One famous meat-eating plant is the Venus flytrap(蝇草).
The Venus flytrap is a very strange plant. It grows in dry parts of the United States. Its leaves are like the pages of a book. They can open and close very quickly. Inside the leaves, there are three small hairs. If a fly (苍蝇) touches one of the hairs, the leaf closes quickly. The fly cannot get out. In about half an hour, the leaf presses the fly until it is dead. Then, the plant covers the fly. Slowly, the plant eats the fly.
Why do plants do it? Most plants get what they need from the sun, the air, and the ground. In some places, the ground is very poor. It doesn't have all these important things, especially nitrogen(氮).Animal meat has a lot of nitrogen, so some plants eat meat to get what they need. Let's hope that some of the bigger plants don't get the same idea!
Friends are very important in people's live. I think it's very easy to make friends with other people and build a friendship between each other. However, So what is true friendship? In my opinion, true friendship includes:
First of all, true friendship must treat their friends loyally and help each other. In other words, you must not take advantage of your friends, For example, some unfriendly people make friends in order to cheat money and feelings, or get a certain secret and so I don't think these are true friendships.
Second, For example, if a friend is really in need of money to escape from some troubles, true friends might lend it and help him or her.
Third,One of the greatest men once said:" If you tell your happiness to your friend, you will get double happiness. If you tell your sadness to your friend, you will get half.
A. friends must share their happiness and sadness. B. it is not easy to get true friendship, I think. C. and you mustn't cheat them. D. true friends must try their best to help each other E. No one can live alone in the world without friends. F. A friend in need is a friend in need. G. but you can borrow a lot of things from them. |
A: Joan, you look a little tired. Are you ill?
B: No, I'm not. That's just because I got up early this morning.
A:
B: At 4 o'clock.
A: 4 o'clock?
B: Because it's Mother's Day today. I want to cook breakfast for my mother.
A: You are really a great daughter, Joan.
B: Vegetables noodles and tomato and egg soup.
A:
B: She felt quite happy while she was eating. And she ate so much in the morning.
