— , Mike. 1 believe you can do it.
When I was a junior high school student in 1980, God gave me a gift. It was happiness.
One weekend, I went to visit my grandparents in the countryside. On my way home, a car ran over me and cut off my arms because of its high speed.
Several days later when I woke up at the hospital, I realized I had to spend the rest of my life 1arms. How sad I felt at that time! Even I was full of fears, but slowly I knew I had to face the fact and got over it. 1 couldn't get my arms back even though I 2 every day.
However, it's easier 3 than done. It took me nearly half a year to get out of the sadness 4. I got so much from my past story. From then on, I could treat my life with a usual mind. But in our daily life, I often see my classmates 5 about little things: They get a bad grade on a test; their bus comes 6 ; they don't have a mobile phone but 7 have, and so on. But I only 8 life. I was lucky to realize from an accident: It is a waste of our life to pay attention to what you have 9 . We should always think of what we have. So why are so many people unhappy? Someone may say, "My whole life would improve if I have a new car." But when you get the car and what 10? For a whole week you are walking on air. Then you go right back to being unhappy.
Happiness depends on what we have! It's in our heart. Happiness comes from knowing the art of appreciating(感激) and taking pleasure in what you really have.
In some foreign countries, some people don't like the number 13. They don't think 13 is a lucky number, for example, they don't like to live on the thirteenth floor.
One day, my friend Jack asked some friends to dinner. When all of his friends arrived, he asked them to sit at the table. He began to count the people in his mind while they were having the delicious food. Soon, he cried out, "Oh, there are thirteen people here!"
Everyone's face turned white except Mr. Brown. He said slowly with a smile on his face, "Don't worry, my friends. We have fourteen people here. My wife Mrs Brown will have a baby in a few weeks. She is in the family now. "
All of them became happy again, "Congratulations!" they said. They all had a good time that evening.

Looking for a Roommate (室友) I'm Alice. I have a house with 2 bedrooms. There are many things in it, like a TV, a washing machine and a fridge. You only need to pay $200 for it each month. And it includes the cost of surfing the Internet, so you can bring your computer. There are two rules for you to follow: You mustn't make lots of noise in the house and you can't keep a pet. Different countries have different customs. When you are in different countries, you should follow their customs.
In China, it's impolite to talk when eating dinner. And you're not supposed to start eating first if there are older people at the table.
Very often people who travel to the United States forget to tip(付小费). It is usual to tip waiters, taxi drivers and porters who help carry your bags. Waiters expect to get a 15% tip on the cost of your meal. Taxi drivers expect about the same amount.
In England, make sure to stand in line even if there are only two of you. It's important to respect lines there. It's a good idea to talk about the weather. It's a favorite subject of conversation with the British.
In Spain, it's a good idea to have a light meal in the afternoon if someone invites you for dinner. People have dinner very late, and restaurants are not generally open until after 9:00 pm.
In Saudi Arabia (沙特阿拉伯), men kiss one another on the cheek (脸颊). Your host may welcome you with a kiss on both cheeks. It is polite for you to do the same.
In Japan, people usually give personal or business cards to each other when they meet for the first time. When a person gives you a card, don't put it into your pocket as soon as you get it. The person expects you to read it.
Don't forget to be careful of your body language to express something in conversations. A kind of body language that is acceptable in one culture may be impolite in another.
Time management is the greatest challenge for me in high school. I have to take good care of my subjects, activities, social life and rest. I was often angry with my family member just because I didn't plan my time well. For example, I might shout at them for troubling me when 1 was working. And sometimes I might say something bad to them when I missed deadlines(截止时间), even if it was actually my fault(错误) to put everything together at the last minute.
As time goes by, I realize that time management is very important in our everyday life. The best advice to deal with time management is "break it into bits". It's really important for you to learn how to break a big project into small, manageable tasks. Then you can work progressively(循序渐进地) and have a sense of achievement whenever you've done with a small part.
Another piece of advice is to plan a timetable for yourself. It doesn't have to be the one that you follow completely. It's just there to serve as a guide. You can compare your actual timetable with the planned one to see how well you actually use your time. The final suggestion is to always set deadlines for yourself.

Deal with conflict(冲突)
Losing friends is as easy as making friends if you don't know how to deal with anger and conflict. Conflict is part of everyone's . It will show up at school, at work and at home. It's OK to feel angry, annoyed(恼怒的) or sad. These feelings are , but different people deal with in different ways. Some people shout, call people names, or even hit the person who has them. Others do their best to keep away from dissension(纠纷) but very few deal with conflict .
Dealing with conflict is a step-by-step progress. .you start talking about the problem, calm down, count to 10 and imagine a relaxing . Then, say what is really bothering(使...烦恼) you, but watch how you express yourself. Don't complain. Share .you feel by using 'I'. For example, don't say "You are always ordering me to do this or to do that," but "I feel sad you don't pay attention to what I think." You want people to your opinion so make sure you practice what you want to say. Listen carefully to the other person and accept that he or she might see the problem in a different way.
Be open minded and willing to say sorry.
