Scientists find that hard-working people live longer than common men and women. Career women are 1 than housewives. The jobless are in poorer health than the job-holders. A study shows 2 the unemployment rate(失业率) by l%, the death rate increases by 2%. All this comes down to one point: Work is 3 to health.
Why is work good for health? It is because work keeps people busy, away from loneliness. Researchers show that people feel unhappy, 4 and lonely when they have nothing to do. Instead, the happiest are those who are busy. Many high achievers who love their careers feel that they are happiest when they are working hard. Work serves as a 5 between man and reality. By work, people come into contact with each other. By collective(集体的) activity, they find friendship and warmth. This is helpful to health.
The loss of work 6 the loss of everything. It affects man spiritually and makes him get ill easily. 7 , work gives one a feeling of pleasure and a sense of achievement. Work makes one feel his value in satiety. When a writer finishes his writing or a doctor successfully 8 a patient or a teacher sees his students grow, they are happy9 .
From the above we can come to the conclusion that the more you work, 10 you will be. Let us work hard, study well and live a happy and healthy life.
This story was told long ago by the ancient people in Australia.
Once there was a child whose parents were dead, so he was left to his relatives. However, the relatives treated him badly. They didn't allow him to drink the water they had collected far away, so the was thirsty most of the time. The child was even told to eat eucalyptus leaves(桉树叶).
One day, after all the relatives left, the boy drank the water from his relatives' water bottles. Then he hung the bottles on a small tree and began to sing some ancient songs. At once, the tree began to grow very tall. When his relatives returned, they found the boy was on the tree with their bottles. They became very angry, for they could not reach the water and they knew the boy had played tricks on them. But they said that they would be kind to the boy if he came down and brought the water bottles with him.
However, as soon as the boy made his way down to the ground, his relatives set about beating him with sticks and stones until his body was quite soft. Mad with anger, they continued to heat him until a strange thing happened at last. The boy began to change. He became a koala and climbed up the tree. The relatives cut down the tree and the koala-boy disappeared. The bottles on the tree fell down and became a river.
Since that time, koalas have been treated with respect or all the water in the land will dry up.

Red Nose Day(RND) is a well-known event the UK. The aim of the day is to raise money for a charity called Comic Relief which helps people in need in Africa and in the UK.
|
Red nose?
Comic Relief was started in 1985 by the scriptwriter
Richard Curtis. It's called Red Nose Day, as on this day many people buy a plastic red nose to wear! The money made from selling red noses goes to the charity.
When is RND?
Red Nose Day takes place every two years in the spring and is now so famous that many people consider it to be an unofficial(非官方的)national holiday. For example, many school have non-uniform days. The fast Red Nose Day was on l3th March 2015.
Money

Water has always been necessary for our health. Then what kind of water do you drink, tap water or bottled water? Do you get a healthier, safer and more refreshing(提神的) drink when you buy bottled water off the shelf? My answer is "no", and doing so hurts the environment and your wallet.
First of all, there are no studies showing that bottled water is better for you, and in fact, it may be less safe than tap water. A study of over l, 000 people in Belfast found that they couldn't tell the differences between tap water and bottled water when asked which was purer, more pleasant, natural and refreshing. Bottled water can come from springs(泉水) or from the mountains. It can also be treated, for example, to have iron(铁) removed. It is reported that there is around 82.8g of CO2 for a half-liter(半公升) bottle. This will be harmful to people's health when everyone's drinking it. However, bottled water is popular with many people. Its success is from excellent marketing and our laziness in filling reusable bottles with tap water.
Secondly, bottled water can cost between 500 to 1, 000 times more than dap water. In 2015, the UK drank 2.4 billion liters o of bottled water, and by 2016 this had risen to 2.6 billion liters. Yet, you get this from the tap, for free.
Besides, recycling is improving, but in America, it is said that only a quarter of bottles can be used again. So is it really so much better that it is worth both paying for and harming the earth? Or should you stop buying it?
As a general rude, I believe that most of us should enjoy more tap water, and stop using so many bottles.
For too many, the damage begins early in life. Four out of 10 babies born in the United States do not form a strong relationship with either parent, and they will pay for that the rest of their lives.
New research from Princeton University confirms what other researchers have already found: The number of babies born into families that are too poorly equipped(装备、配备) to give them a fair chance of having a successful life is very big.
That finding is supported by many other research Projects, including a study from the University of Rochester showing that nearly one-third of U.S. parents don't know what to expect from their new horns, or how to help them grow and learn and get along with others. Babies, as others have pointed out, don't come with an owner's manual.
The basic problem, according to the Princeton study, is 40 percent of infants in the U.S. live in fear or distrust of their parents, and that will turn into aggressiveness(侵犯), defiance(挑衅) and hyperactivity(多动) as they grow into adults.
Of that number, 25 percent don't have a close relationship with their parents because the parents don't satisfy their needs. And 15 percent find their parents so troubling that they will avoid them whenever possible.
That will not necessarily result in a lifetime of violence(暴力), but it will make living a successful life much more difficult.
"They can overcome(克服) it," sociologist (社会科学家) Sophie Moullin of Princeton, lead author(作者) of that study, said in a telephone interview. "It's not a make or break situation, but they might find it harder to control their behavior."
Moullin, along with coauthors from Columbia University and the University of Bristol in England, analyzed(分析) more than 100 research projects, to reach their conclusions.
There are many factors, including poverty(贫穷), ignorance(无知), and stress among parents who are so busy with their own problems that a new child is sometimes more than they can deal with.
Yet strong relationships, the researchers say, are amazingly simple to achieve.

一 Of course. You can't be them.
Martin Lynch, an American businessman, had been going on holiday to a small Mexican fishing village for a number of years. One morning while going for a walk along the beach, he saw his friend Pablo Perez, a local fisherman. Martin watched Pablo unload(卸货) his boat and pack the fish in a box.
Martin noticed Pablo was smiling and looked very happy. He could also see several large fish in the boat. Martin greeted Pablo and asked how long it took to catch the fish. "Just a few hours," replied Pablo. Martin asked, "Why didn't you stay longer and catch more fish?" "I have enough for my family," Pablo said. "And what do you do with the rest of your day?" asked Martin. "I take a nap(午睡), play with my children, spend time with my wife, and go into the village to see my friends and play cards, I have a full and busy life." Martin explained that if Pablo worked longer hours and caught more fish, he could make more money. With the extra money, Pablo could buy more boats and catch money more fish. By selling the fish, Pablo could open his own factory and sell direct to supermarkets.
"Then what?" asked Pablo. "Well you would probably have to move to Mexico City to run the business. Finally, you would be able to sell your business and make millions of dollars," replied Martin. "How long will that take?" asked Pablo. Martin thought for a while and said it would probably take at least 15 years.
"And then what?" asked Pablo.
"Well, that's the best part," Martin said. "You will be able to retire(退休), buy a house near the ocean, sleep longer, play with your children, spend more time with your wife, see your friends, and play cards."
