We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting them and putting them into our 1. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know 2 and when to eat.
Fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach. If you eat fruit like that, it will go straight 3 the stomach into the Intestines(肠道). It will be good to your health and provide you with plenty of 4 for life activities. Fruit is the most important 5.
But when you eat two pieces of bread and then some fruit, it is 6 from doing so. Do you know the reason?
You have probably heard people saying –every time I eat watermelon I burp(打嗝), when I eat a banana I feel like 7 to the toilet. When the fruit 8 with other food, it produces gas(气体). That's why you will feel uncomfortable. Actually, we will not 9 if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach.
Eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. When you 10 want to drink fruit juice, drink only 11 fruit juice, NOT from the bottles or cans. Don't drink juice that has been 12 up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients(营养成分)at all. You only get the 13.
If you have mastered the 14 way of eating fruits, you have the 15 of beauty, health, energy, happiness and a long life. Dark circles under the eyes will not appear.
On my recent trip to Sydney with my parents, we visited the Wildlife Park.
The Wildlife Park has lots of different animals and birds. Some are native (当地的) to Australia and can only be found there. There are over 600 animals there, including kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles (鳄鱼). They are kept in their natural environment. I like the Wildlife Park better than a zoo where most of the animals are in cages (笼子).
We first spent some time with the kangaroos. We were allowed to touch and feed them. It was very exciting to be so close to them. There were koalas there too. They looked very cuddly (令人想拥抱的). Although we were not allowed to carry them, I got to take a photo with one. It is a wonderful souvenir (纪念品) of my holiday in Sydney.
The Wildlife Park has plenty of freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. Some of them are really big and scary (吓人的) with huge teeth! I did not want to get too close to them.
There was also a bird show. The keepers showed us different species (种类) they had. I saw an old parrot which could "talk". It made a great impression on me.
I enjoyed the trip very much. There was so much to see.
As an English, I can speak three languages—English, German and French, so do you think the British people are very good language learners? The fact is that they aren't.Some statistics (数据) from the survey done by the European Commission (欧盟委员会) showed that 62% of the British people only speak English. 38% speak at least one foreign language and 18% speak two or more. Compared with the British people, 56% of the people in other European countries speak at least one foreign language and 28% speak two or more.
From this you can see that the British people are famous for not speaking foreign languages and that they are not good language learners in Europe.
And the survey also showed that English is the most widely-spoken foreign language. Many European people can have a conversation in English. That's why my people don't think it is necessary to learn a foreign language.
In Britain, students are not required to learn a foreign language. That means learning a foreign language is only an option at school. In UK schools it is common for children to start learning a foreign language at 11 and many of them give it up at 14. So why don't students continue learning foreign languages at school? Because they think it is more difficult to get good marks in languages than in other subjects such as science or history.
To solve this situation, the British government is looking for different ways to improve language learning at school. One way is to start learning it at a much younger age. Another one is to give school children more choices.
Changing the British attitude (态度) to learning foreign languages may be a hard task but the government decides to try!
Here is an experiment (实验) to see how ants can organize some clever teamwork.

|
First you need some ants. You may have to wait until the summer to find them on paths around your home. | When you have found an ant, put a thin slice of fruit in front of it. It may eat some of it or carry bits away. | Check the fruit after an hour, Have other ants been attracted to it? If so, what are they doing? | When there are lots of ants, move the fruit to a new position, a little to the side. What do the ants do? |
What's going on?
You can see one of the best examples of insect teamwork by watching ants. If one ant finds food, it leads others there to eat it too. They follow each other by making long trails. The ants go back and forth collecting food, to take back to their nest (穴). When you move the fruit, the ants will still find it. But, instead of making a new direct route (路线) to the food, they will follow each other through their old trail route.
a. Move the fruit to a new position.
b. Find an ant.
c. Check the fruit an hour later.
d. Put a thin slice of fruit in front of the ant.
Smog(雾霾) is a big problem in many Chinese cities. But it seems that besides wearing a mask, few of us know what has caused the smog and what to do to beat it. Chai Jing, a former news hostess with China Central Television, discussed the questions in her documentary Under the Dome.
The 103 - minute film was published on major Chinese video - sharing websites on Feb 28. In the film, Chai visits polluted places and talks to officials and scientists. She comes to the conclusion that burning too much coal and oil are the main causes of PM2.5 and smog.
To make things worse, according to Chai, the coal and oil we are burning is of poor quality and don't meet the standards for environmental protection. Therefore they have produced more harmful gas to pollute the air.
To solve the problem, Chai suggests that we should clean our coal and oil or replace them with cleaner energy such as natural gas. In her film, Chai also pointed out that ordinary people can do something to help control smog too. For example, we live a greener life by using more public traffic. Or if we see things that could harm the environment, we can try to stop it. In one scene from the film, Chai sees a dirt mound in a building site exposed in the air, and asks the person in charge to cover it. When she sees a restaurant cooking without any suitable filter facilities, she calls the hotline 12369. The restaurant installed the filter a week later. Chen Jining, the new minister of environmental protection, praised Chai. "This film encourages ordinary people to care about the environment. This is what we need in the future. "
