An invention is a device (设备),process, or method that is unique. Its design is an improvement of an existing device or product. It can also be a new process for producing a result or object. There are many famous inventions throughout the history and some of them are listed below.
Internet (1969)
Country: America
Inventor: Advanced Research Projects Agency(ARPA) at the Department of Defense An early form of the Internet was invented by the ARPAnet when scientists and military experts were concerned that a Soviet attack could wipe out the nation's system of telephones.
They designed a global network of computers that could communicate with one another. This design eventually led to the creation of the Internet as we know.
Band Aid
Country: America
Inventor: Earle Dickson
In 1920, Earle Dickson designed the Band Aid for his wife, Josephine, who often burned and cut herself when cooking. The design helped her cover her wounds by herself. The idea was passed to Dickson's employer, Johnson & Johnson, who marketed and produced the product. After that, Dickson developed a successful career with the company.
Electric washing machine(1907)
Country: America
Inventor: Alva J. Fisher
The first washing machine based on a motor(发动机)was made by Alva J. Fisher while he was at the Hurley Washing Machine Company. The electric motor of his machine allowed for faster and heavier wash loads than in earlier washing machines.
Battery
Country: Italy
Inventor: Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Anastasio Volta
The first battery was invented by Alessandro Volta (physicist in Italy) in 1792. The science behind the concept of a battery that inspired Volta was observed by Luigi Galvani, who found that frog legs would twitch(抽搐)when touched by a spark from an external source(外部来源)of electricity.
A Dog's Way Home follows a puppy(幼犬), Bella, and her relationship with her fiend Lucas and his family. After getting separated from her owners? Bella goes on the adventure of a lifetime, making friends with a homeless veteran(老兵)and mountain lion as she tries to find her way back.
Adapted for the screen by W. Bruce Cameron? the author of A Dog's Purpose, it's an uplifting movie animal lovers and military members will appreciate. Ashley Judd stars as Terri, a mom whose son Lucas befriends Bella. Terri struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder. Although she's not thrilled when Lucas brings Bella home, she soon finds that the puppy brings her joy and purpose.
Judd had firsthand experience with the great change a dog can bring. One of her dogs, Shug, who went to heaven in 2017.
“I'm an animal lover," Judd says. "I had my two dogs for 16 and 17 years, and they were always with me. I enjoyed being with them. By the time I was making A Dog's Way Home, both of them had gone to heaven, doing such a special movie about a dog means a lot to me."
During her time on set, Judd got to know two new animal friends, the dogs who played Bella, Shelby and Amber, both rescue dogs.
“The dogs who played Bella were very sweet," Judd said. “They both learned their tricks so well, and they're eager to please, and just delightful to be around.
Judd added, "We have a really deep need for belonging, connection, safety, and trust, and we can find that both in our family of origin and the families that we're allowed to create. Just like Bella takes a long way to get back to her human. .. for all of us, the effort of being connected with our love in the end is worth it. "
Hungry deer in the northeastern US are likely changing the acoustics (音效)of their forests by eating up bushes, small trees and other leafy plants that normally would affect the transmission(传播)of natural sounds such as bird calls.
Megan Gall, an ecologist at Vassar College who studies how the environment shapes animals' senses, showed curiosity about the possibility after talking with a couple of colleagues who were studying how browsing(吃草的)deer could transform a forest ecosystem by eating up the entire lower level of leafy plants.
Gall already knew that sound travels differently through open fields than through the woods. She also had previously studied how human noise can influence wildlife communication. Confused about how deer might change what other animals hear, she decided to do some experiments in a couple of forested areas that her colleagues had set up for their deer studies.
One area was fenced off in a way that kept out the deer. The other area was marked off but left open so that deer could enter and browse. Gall and two students set up audio equipment around these areas. They broadcast different sounds and checked to see how those sounds changed after traveling through each environment. They checked sounds that they sent through the lowest level of the forest, in the middle-level of the forest and at angles going from the ground upward.
The results, published in the journal PLOS One , show that the structure (结构)of a sound changed a lot when it was traveling through an area that the deer hadn't snacked on.
“When deer were browsing, we actually found that the sound was clearer,Gall says.
“The challenge for further study is to find places that have not been browsed," he says, “to see if any of these changes have already occurred. Deer are so pervasive. You'd really have to look hard to find areas that have not been browsed. ”
There is a small but growing movement in America of households that want to reduce waste to zero. Zero Wasters, as they are called, help each other by sharing advice on blogs and social media. A number of people also have written books on the movement.
Bea Johnson is author of Zero Waste Home: The Ultimate Guide to Simplifying Your Life. She said, “It may be too extreme for some people, but even if you can cut your trash down by even 20 percent, you'll gain 80 percent of the benefits, like saving time and money for experiences instead of shopping for something unnecessary. ”
Johnson said that reducing shopping means her family has more money for fun vacations. She said her family buys recycled things also. All their clothing, for example, comes from used clothing stores. She said that has reduced her household spending by 40 percent.
Zero Wasters like to talk about five “R's": Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot. The first “R" stands for refuse. They refuse containers and plastic straws at restaurants. To this end, they either ask to use their own containers or request that things like food be wrapped(包装)in paper. Zero Wasters also seek to reduce the number of things they buy. They reuse household goods and recycle recyclable materials. They also try to compost (堆 肥),or rot, food material that can be used to enrich soil.
Amy Korst is another most popular writer in the zero waste movement. She wrote the book Zero Waste Lifestyle: Live Well by Throwing Away Less. She noted that once food is buried under plastics, it no longer composts as it normally would. She said that is why it is so important to cut down on using things made out of plastic and separate things that can be broken down from other trash. She recommended residents(居民)to get in touch with the local sanitation(卫生)department in understanding how to recycle.
As we all know, health is more important than wealth. Almost all the people value health most. There are three things that a person can do to help stay in good shape: eat right food, get enough sleep, and exercise on a regular basis.
Your body cannot work well unless it receives the proper kind of “fuel". Don't eat too much food with lots of sugar and fat. Instead, take in plenty of foods high in protein(蛋白质), like meat, fish, eggs and nuts. Vegetables and fruits are very important because they provide necessary vitamins and minerals.
Getting the proper amount of sleep is also important. If you don't get enough sleep, you feel tired and easily get angry. You have no energy. Over a long period of time a little amount of sleep may even result in a change of character. Be sure to allow yourself from seven to nine hours of sleep each night.
Finally, get plenty of exercise. It also improves your heart and lungs. If you follow a regular exercise program, you will probably live longer. Basketball, swimming, bicycling, running are good examples. Sports are not only good for your body, but they are enjoyable and interesting.
If you follow the tips above, you will probably live to be much older and wiser.
A.Proper nutrition is important for good health.
B.Body needs proper care in order to be healthy.
C.Eating a balanced diet helps to make your mind active.
D.It is beneficial to your health to take exercise every day.
E.Then your body will feel strong and your mind will be sharp.
F.Most sports are very good for keeping the body in good shape.
G.It makes the body strong and prevents you from putting on weight.

By coincidence, I had brought my book. Here 17 came again. Parting with "things" had seemed to become common, but I didn't want to part with the book or "let it go". Then peace18me, "Let it go." It was a phrase I truly 19 but was able to thank the universe for again keeping love and life simple.
Having my babies safe allowed me to 20 place the book under the driver's seat.
I travel a lot for work and sometimes I end staying behind to clean up the loose ends while my project team heads back home.
We were in Boston meeting with a business partner of (we) and we wrapped up early. Everyone was able to catch (flight) home, except me. So I decided to go to dinner. Because I was not very familiar with I was in Boston, I (hire) a driver to pick me up before I walked out the meeting hall.
My driver asked for my destination. I responded by asking him to pick the restaurant he would like to go to for dinner. We stopped at a local seafood place and then I invited that man had eaten nothing to join me for dinner. I hate eating alone and could not stand knowing he was sitting in the car in the parking lot waiting for me to finish up. I definitely caught him off guard.
We had a (relax) dinner time, after which he and I formed a great friendship. I learned a lot about life in his home country and it opened my eyes even more (become) grateful for small things.
Doing something nice for others only makes this world a much (happy) place. How I wish everyone could reach out and touch just one person! In the end, we would all be touched by the gift of (kind) !

I live on the countryside, so my neighbors are quite spread apart. However, we are eager to help each other out. Unfortunately, the couple that lives mere half a mile away from us at the end of our private road has been cold. Our requests tended to be ignored by them and they at time disagree with all the other neighbors. However, man had an operation a week ago and couldn't walk. His wife were unable to make everything go smoothly. All the other neighbors put all the misunderstandings aside immediately but offered help. The action made the couple a little astonishing, yet they were truly thank. It was until then when that they realized the importance of being close to others.
