  • 23. (2020·肇源模拟) Judge the following statements True or False.

Bikesharing is new for short journeys in cities. It is a good choice for the big cities to develop healthily.

A report found that shared bikes started the nation's love for bikes again. The love is not only among young people born in the 1980s and 2000s, but also among people over sixty. Now they are choosing bikes instead of cars to make short journeys in cities. If you have a smart phone, the nearest bike equipped with GPS will be easily found through a certain app on your phone. It can also be unlocked through the app and left anywhere in public for the next user. The cost of riding depends on the time that you spend. Normally, every hour you ride, you just need to pay one yuan.

It is said that bikesharing will help improve the cities' environment. It not only helps solve the traffic problems, but also will help to make more use of space in cities. Take Beijing as an example. If more people choose shared bikes, an area of five Bird's Nest Stadiums (体育场)will be saved.

At the same time, there are some problems with shared bikes that people need to solve properly. For example, some people park the bikes in their home; some break up the bikes on purpose; and others even throw them into the river. Facing all these problems, everyone should raise their own awareness of protecting the bikes. We should not only enjoy them, but also value them and put them to good use.

On my recent trip to Sydney with my parents, we visited the Wildlife Park.

The Wildlife Park has lots of different animals and birds. Some are native (当地的) to Australia and can only be found there. There are over 600 animals there, including kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles (鳄鱼). They are kept in their natural environment. I like the Wildlife Park better than a zoo where most of the animals are in cages (笼子).

We first spent some time with the kangaroos. We were allowed to touch and feed them. It was very exciting to be so close to them. There were koalas there too. They looked very cuddly (令人想拥抱的). Although we were not allowed to carry them, I got to take a photo with one. It is a wonderful souvenir (纪念品) of my holiday in Sydney.

The Wildlife Park has plenty of freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. Some of them arereally big and scary (吓人的) with huge teeth! I did not want to get too close to them.

There was also a bird show. The keepers showed us different species (种类) they had. I saw an old parrot which could "talk". It made a great impression on me.

I enjoyed the trip very much. There was so much to see.

      A . In Sydney. B . In Cairo. C . In Athens. D . In Rome.

Taking care of pets can be a great way to teach children responsibility, but it's important to be realistic (现实的). If you're keen on bringing an animal into your home and you've designed a plan for its proper care, here are some choices.

    • FISH

First-time owners should consider getting cold-water fish as no tank (鱼缸) heater is required. They should research what kinds of fish get along in the same tank, and be aware of life expectancies-some goldfish can live up to 20 years.

    • RABBITS

Though rabbits, or nickname bunnies, may seem like a lovely choice, they can live up to ten years and require an amount of care similar to that of a dog or cat. They have their special diet needs, and often don't behave well around small children. Each year, quite a lot of Easter bunnies become homeless when families feel tired of them.

    • GUINEAPIGS (豚鼠,荷兰猪)

These small animals are ideal starter pets. Their cages must be cleaned daily, and they require toys to keep their ever growing teeth in check. Once they're used to the new way of life, guinea pigs need daily exercise in a small room without cracks or holes for escape. They don't want to be alone, but if you get two, make sure they're the same sex or they'll have babies.

    • BIRDS

  • 44. (2020·肇源模拟) Answer the questions according to the following passage.

A novel coronavirus (新冠状病毒), a cousin of the SARS virus, has infected (感染) more than 40, 000people since the outbreak (爆发) began in Huanan Seafood Market, Wuhan, China, in December. At first, we knew little about this virus. With more researches going on, we get to learn more about it.

Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that are common among animals. In rare cases, they are what scientists call zoonotic (人畜共患病), meaning they can be transmitted (传播) from animals to humans, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is believed that the novel coronavirus spreads from human contact with animals. Bats are widely believed to be carriers of the latest strain of the disease.

Chinese researchers said on Friday that the endangered pangolin (穿山甲) may be the intermediate (媒介) host between bats and humans.

The viruses can make people sick, usually with a mild (轻度) to moderate (中度) upper respiratory tract illness (上呼吸道疾病) , similar to a common cold, including a runny nose, cough, sore throat, possibly a headache and maybe a fever, which can last for a couple of days. For those with a weakened immune(免疫的) system, the elderly and the very young, there's a chance the virus could cause deadly diseases.

What's horrible about this virus is that once a human is infected, he/she becomes a carrier of the virus and spreads it to more people by coughing, sneezing or even handshaking. The virus can also be transmitted by touching something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes. Doctors and nurses may also catch the disease when taking care of the patients, so they are required to wear strict protective clothes.

To fight against the disease, as individuals (个人,个体) , we should strictly follow the requirements of the government to stay at home and help to prevent the spread of the disease. In terms of the (就……而言) government, a strong health care system can surely help decrease the risk of health attack and lessen the impact of the disease.

    1. (1) Where did the outbreak begin?
    2. (2) What animal does the novel coronavirus come from according to the researchers?
    3. (3) What symptoms (症状) may people have when they are affected?
    4. (4) Why are doctors and nurses required to wear strict protective clothes?
