Hi, dear boys and girls! Do you know how to be a healthy kid? Here are some rules for you.
First, eat different foods, especially fruit and vegetables. You may have a favorite food, but you'd better eat something different.
Second, drink water and milk as often as possible. When you're really thirsty (口渴), cold water is the No. 1 choice. Milk is a great drink that can give you more calcium (钙) when your body needs to grow strong bones (骨头).
Third, listen to your body. When you are eating, notice how your body feels. Eating too much will not make you feel well and make you fat.
Fourth, limit (限制) screen time. It is good to take more exercise such as basketball, bike riding and swimming. You can't watch TV for more than two hours a day.
Fifth, be active. One thing you'd like to do as a kid is to find which activity you like best. Find ways to be active every day.
Follow these rules and you can be a healthy kid.
I had been unhappy since (自从) my new neighbor moved in. Every time when I began writing, I could hear a girl singing next door. She didn't sing well, and even out of tune (调). So it is really a noise pollution (噪音污染) for me.
One day, soon after I sat down behind the computer, I heard the girl singing again. I felt it was too noisy, so I had my husband go to next door and complained (抱怨) about the noise. Ten minutes later, my husband came back with a sad look, saying, "That girl is only 17 but she had bone (骨头) cancer. Her mother said that the more painful (痛的) it is, the louder (更大声地) her daughter sings." I know now the singing helped reduce (减少) her pains.
I said to my husband, "Please tell her mother that the girl can sing as she likes. We don't mind it at all."
From that day on, I no longer thought the girl did anything wrong and even got used to her singing. I felt as if (好像) it were like the smell of sunbeams and watching the flowers and plants. The next year I left home on business. My husband phoned me that the girl died.
I returned home in late summer or early autumn. Sitting at home I couldn't help feeling something wanting. Suddenly I understood that I could no longer hear the next-door girl sing.
Lots of kids love video games. In fact, they like them so much that they might hear something like this from mom or dad: "Enough! Stop and find something else to do!"
It can be good advice. Studies show that video games can be good for hand-eye skills, problem-solving (解决问题的) skills, and the mind's ability (能力). But too much video game playing can cause health problems.
It's hard to get enough active play and exercise if you're always inside playing video games. And without enough exercise, kids can become overweight.
Really too much video games playing also can be bad for kids' friendship and school grades.
But here's the good news, playing games some of the time can be OK. Just for no more than 1 or 2 hours a week and choose good games.
What's a good game? That depends on how old you are. Your mom or dad can help choose some which is good for you. If you can choose one to make yourself better and make progress (进步), that's even better.
As a teenager (青少年), you might challenge (挑战) your mom, dad — or even your grandma — to play with them or try some cartoons. By doing so, you can improve (提高) friendship with them and even make them feel good. But most teenagers dislike to do so. They prefer to play alone or with friends. But to be honesty (坦白说), this really makes a great difference.
There's a lot of discussion (讨论) these days about video games. Parents and teachers want to know how to help kids to choose good games.
Art lovers around the world think about this question for so many years: why does Mona Lisa smile?
However, they can ask Mona Lisa herself in the show in Beijing. It brings the 500-year-old painting to life.
Now Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting (画) can move her head and wave (挥舞) her hand in 3D, and even answer questions. She can answer the questions about her life, her age and so on. But when she talks she doesn't speak Italian but Chinese like "Da jia hao, wo jiao Mengna Lisha. Hen gao xing jian dao ni men."
The new digital (数码的) picture of Mona Lisa is the center piece of the World Classic Interactive Arts Exhibition in Beijing. You can also see other world-famous paintings such as Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper. Last Supper is another picture that they made alive (活的) with 3D. In this picture, Jesus (耶稣) can walk and talk with his believers (信徒).
It took Wang Hui and over 400 digital artists in South Korea two years to make the picture, at a cost of about 50, 000, 000 yuan.
He says, "What's special about it is that it's the first time to use computer technology (技术) to make her speak and move."
So what does Mona Lisa say if you ask her: "Why are you smiling?"
There was a beautiful garden. Every year the king would go to the garden to decide which flower was the most beautiful one.
For the last few years, the rose was always Number One. Because of this, the rose Gulaab became arrogant. It would never let birds stay on its flower. Then all the birds started staying away from Gulaab.
Behind Gulaab, there was a little yellow flower. People called it Junglee. Junglee wasn't more beautiful than Gulaab, but it welcomed the birds to stay on its flower. All the birds in the garden liked it.
This year the king went to the garden as before. The gardener pointed at the rose and said to the king, "Your favorite flower, my king."
Of course, the king also saw the yellow flower behind it and asked, "What flower is that?"
"Oh! That's Junglee, a wild flower."
"I didn't see a flower like it before. There are so many birds on it. I think it's much more beautiful than the rose. It will be the King Flower of this year!" said the king.
