At the age of 12, Einstein alwaysplayed with a group of naughty kids. Because he was busy playing, he failed in severalexams.1a weekend morning, Einstein carried a fishingnet and was about to go fishing with those kids, his father2himand said to him calmly," Einstein, you were3toomuch time playing, so you failed in the exams. I'm worried about your4with your mother."
"5are you worrying about?Jack and Robert also failed, but they went fishing6.
"Myboy, you can't think like that," Looking at Einstein, his father said lovingly,"There is a story in our hometown. I hope you can listen to it7."
"Therewere8cats playing on the roof. Suddenly, they fellinto the chimney (烟囱). When they climbed out of the chimney, one cat's face was dirty9 theother's face was clean. Seeing the dirty—faced cat, the clean—faced one thoughtits own face must be10, so it quickly ran to the riverside and washedits face. The dirty-faced cat saw the clean—faced one, thinking its own face wasclean as well, so it walked11in the street."
"Einstein,12 can be your mirror. Only you are your own mirror. Some of the kids are not strict with themselves. If you take them to be your mirror, even a clever person may become stupid." Hearing this, Einstein was13andlay down his fishing net and returned to his small room. He decided to pay moreattention to his14and less attention to what his friends weredoing.
After that, Einstein often took15asa mirror to be strict with himself and kept telling himself." I am special,so I needn't be as16as others." This was why Einstein17inhis career.
1,000 people have 1,000 kinds of wishes in life.Different wishes will produce different18about life. You can learnfrom other people, but you can19follow others completely. You must see yourselfclearly, and know what you want to get. Your future doesn't20 how others act, but on what you are going to act.

I remember, I remember,
The house where I was born,
The little window where the sun
Came peeping (偷窥) in at morn;
He never came a wink (眨眼) too soon,
Nor brought too long a day,
But now, I often wish the night
Had borne my breath away (夺走)!
I remember, I remember,
The roses, red and white,
The violets, and the lily-cups,
Those flowers made of light!
The lilacs where the robin (知更鸟) built,
And where my brother set
The laburnum on his birthday, -
The tree is living yet!
I remember, I remember,
Where I was used to ▲ ,
And thought the air must rush as fresh
To swallows (燕子) on the wing;
My spirit flew in feathers (羽毛) then,
That is so heavy now,
And summer pools could hardly cool
The fever on my brow (眉毛)!
I remember, I remember,
The fir trees dark and high;
I used to think their slender (细长) tops
Were close against the sky:
It was a childish ignorance (无知),
But now this is little joy
To know I'm farther off from heaven
Than when I was a boy.
My 6-year-old granddaughter Caitlin and I stopped at a bakery shop for a chocolate cake. As we were going out the door, a young teenage boy was coming in.
This young man had no hair on the sides of his head and a tuft of (一簇) blue hair on top. His left ear and nose were pierced. And attached (系上) to both of them was a silver chain that ran across half of his face. He held a skateboard under one arm and a basketball under the other.
Caitlin, who was walking in front of me, stopped when she saw the teen. I thought she'd be frightened of him.
I was wrong. She backed up against the door and opened it as wide as it would go. I stepped aside and let the boy pass. He smiled and said: "________________"
On our way to the car, I talked with Caitlin about holding open the door for the boy. "Were you troubled by the boy's look?" I still wanted to make sure. But the only thing Caitlin noticed about the teen was the fact that his arms were full. "He would have had a hard time to open the door."
I saw the shaved (剃光的) head, the blue hair, the piercings and the chain. She saw a person carrying something under each arm and heading toward a closed door.
In the future, I hope to get on her level and raise my sights.
Do sugary drinks cause overweight? While we know that sugary drinks have calories (卡路里), which are believed to cause overweight, many questions remain. For example, is soda any better? Do you need a sports drink after going to the gym? Here are the facts to some common misunderstandings.
Misunderstanding 1: Clear soda (无色汽水) is healthier than dark soda.
The truth: The dark color of teeth has something to do with the coloring (着色剂) in soda. Lisa R. Young, a professor of Nutrition at New York University said. But the big difference between clear and dark sodas is the caffeine content (咖啡因含量). Since a bottle of soda, whether Coca-Cola or Sprite (雪碧), has less caffeine than that in a cup of coffee, most soda drinkers probably don't need to worry about what to choose.
Misunderstanding 2: If you need caffeine to cheer you up, you should choose an energy drink rather than coffee.
The truth: There are more sugar than caffeine in energy drinks such as Red Bull (红牛). Energy drinks may be easier to drink. But a cup of coffee has between 95 and 200 milligrams (毫克) of caffeine while Red Bull has about 80mg per the same amount, according to US medical research group Mayo Clinic.
Misunderstanding 3: If you go to the gym, you need a sports drink.
The truth: It would be easy to think that you need a sports drink any time you sweat (出汗). But the truth is that the energy in your body won't be used up until you've done more than an hour of training. So you only need to drink some water after a 45-minute exercise on the running machine.
Being a fit and healthy person is very important for lots of people today. In fact, some people like running and exercising so much that they become obsessed with keeping track of it.
Thanks to fitness apps and gadgets (小玩意), people can measure every step they take, what they eat and every calorie (热量) they burn. They might wear a special watch on their wrist, shoes on their feet or use different apps on their phone to measure their movements. Importantly, once they have done that they post it on social media. All of their friends can see where they've run, what workout they've done or what they had for lunch.
Doctor Daniel Kraft from the United States makes gadgets for people like this. He told the Digital Health Summit that these people, known as "trackaholics" (追踪狂), would become the norm (常态) in the future.
And I think he's right. I can see the world of health and fitness changing around me every day. One of my friends, named Anna Palmer, is always using the latest fitness gadgets. Her favorite is an app called Argus. She uses it on her phone to measure her steps, heart rate (心率) and amount of calories she has burnt. She always posts these things, and pictures of herself exercising, on social media. "It's nice to know how much exercise you have done, rather than guess," she said. "That way I can keep pushing myself to improve." Also, my friends in China use WeChat (微信) to compare how many steps they've taken each day. They are very competitive about this!
Paper cups, plastic bags and old newspapers. There are so many single-use things (一次性物品) that we throw away after using only once.
①According to news website Quartz, we are now living in a "throw-away society". Single-use has become a natural way of life and can be seen almost everywhere.
②Every day, we see new memes (表情包), stories and Internet slang (网络俚语) on social media. With so many of them coming out all the time, the lifespan (寿命) of each becomes short - they become "single-use online products". This also means social media users are always searching for the next big thing.
③You may feel frustrated (沮丧) when trying to keep up with these memes and slang, but you just cannot help but keep scrolling(滚屏). It is endless - no matter it's WeChat Moments (朋友圈), Sina Weibo or Facebook.
④While you read single-use content (内容) online, you also produce it. Since 2017, WeChat Moments (朋友圈) has allowed users to make only the last three days of their posts viewable (可见的). As a result, more and more people don't take their posts seriously.
Since it doesn't take too much time and energy to communicate anymore, we now even have disposable (用后即扔的) friendships, according to a story in Fast Company.
A single-use way of life may give you quick pleasure. But the pleasure may not last for long because there is no deep thought behind it. Maybe we need to slow down and enjoy a more thoughtful way of life.
