Erin was aguide in Glacier Park in Montana(蒙大拿州), USA. In July2011, she took a group of eight people on horses for a1 in the woods. Erin was on a big white horsecalled Tonk.
Everyonewas ready to have fun, and the ride2 well. Erin knew there were bears in the woods,but3 didn't usually go near people.
4, an angry, 300-kilogram grizzly bear(灰熊)came out from the trees. It was very close to an eight-year-oldboy on a horse. The boy's horse saw the bear and became very5.It ran away with the boy on its back. The bear ran after them.
Tonk wasafraid, too. He didn't want to move. But Erin needed6 the boy. She didn't stop to think. She gaveTonk a kick and they went after the bear.
Erin foundthe bear near the7 and his horse. Then the boy fell off the horseand the bear started to go8 him! Erin put Tonk between the bear and theboy. Together they ran at the bear three times. The bear made a terrible noise-9 then it went away. Erin10 the boy and took him back to his father andthe other riders.
The boy'sfather was very moved and Erin and Tonk were heroes!
Nick is a 14-year-old school boy. His life is full of exams and studies on weekdays. He has little free time. He thinks playing computer games is the best way to make him relax. When he has free time, he sits in front of the computer. Just like that way, he neither eats nor drinks for several hours.
Last weekend, he played games on the computer again. He was too excited and didn't want to move. He didn't have anything for six hours. When he had to go to the bathroom, he found he could not move. He was taken to the hospital. The doctor told him he should do some more different kinds of activities. In other words, he needs more exercise and outdoor activities to make him have a healthy body.
After coming back from the hospital, Nick follows the doctor's advice. He often plays soccer with his friends. Sometimes he still plays computer games on weekends, but he never does it for long. Now, he lives a happy and healthy life.
Strict or fun? Clever or kind? Old or young? There are many kinds of teachers. So what kinds of teachers do you like best? Here are some students' ideas.
Lucy |
My favorite teachers are who know a lot. It is a problem if they don't know their subjects well. They should make their lessons as easy and interesting as possible. And in class, we want new information besides what is in the textbook. |
Peter |
I love humorous teachers. If a teacher is humorous, he or she is usually kind to students. My Chinese teacher Mrs. Han is such a teacher. To have her class is to have fun. Even naughty boys are eager (渴望的) to learn and do their homework on time. |
Tom |
We boys and girls often have questions and secrets. We really want to share our feelings with teachers and make friends with them. So I like young teachers best because they understand us. |

My head teacher Mrs. Song is my favorite teacher. She is strict but always full of emotion (激情). Once she recited (背诵) a poem she wrote in class and I will never forget that moment. Teachers like her can influence my whole life. |
Bullying (欺凌) can happen to anyone. A great many children around the world are bullied every year, but there are things that can be done to help.
What is bullying?
Bullying is when someone makes you feel bad or hurts you again and again. Bullying can happen at school, out of school and online. Bullying includes:
●calling people mean (恶意的) names
●laughing at people
●telling lies about people
●taking someone's things without permission (允许)
●not letting someone play in a group
●hitting people
What is cyberbullying (网络欺凌)?
Cyberbullying includes:
●sending bad messages online
●sharing photos online without permission
●not letting someone be part of an online group
●telling lies online
What can you do?
If someone is not kind to you, tell an adult that you know and like. For example, talk to a parent or a teacher.
If you get bad messages, don't reply. You should save them and give them to your teacher, your family, or the police. Ask an adult for help. Don't share anything before you make sure it is true. That will help stop the cyberbullying.
Talk to your parents or teacher or an adult if you see bullying or if you are worried about a friend.
Say sorry if you are not kind to someone. You can write a message or talk to the person. And always remember: think about how to be kind in the future.

Wang Yong from Wuhan has recently touched millions in the fight against the novel coronavirus (新型冠状病毒).
At 10:00 p.m on the Spring Festival Eve (January 24th), Wang learned from his WeChat moments that a nurse at Jinyintan Hospital couldn't find a taxi to drive her home. After an inner struggle (内心挣扎), Wang bought two N95 masks from a nearby supermarket and arrived at Jinyintan Hospital early the next morning. The nurse who didn't expect that anyone would come got into the car and cried. On that day, Wang drove nearly 30 medical workers to and from Jinyintan Hospital.
That was only the beginning. Wang began to find more volunteers. And he wasn't let down- more than 20 soon joined in. Wang and his team also turned to big companies, including Mobike and Didi, for help. They didn't stop there. To realize some of the medical workers' wish to eat rice, Wang began to get in touch with restaurant owners and asked whether they could provide food at the lowest price. "Most were willing to help. Some even promised to offer it for free," Wang said. Because the heating system in the hospital had to be turned off to reduce the risk of infection (感染), Wang and his team bought down jackets (羽绒服) for the medical workers so that they wouldn't feel cold.
Asked why he tried so hard to help, Wang's answer was simple, "They are lifesavers." Wang was grateful for the efforts (努力)of all the people and companies that have joined him. "Everyone is working hard to help medical workers. I'm just an organizer. I am very confident that we can defeat the novel coronavirus. I have done what I could and I will not regret it."

I found an old box of my father's yesterday. It was really to discover something about my father's life as a child. He once told me about his hobbies as a child. He wrote to people from all over the world, and they sent letters back. As a result, he had a book of interesting stamps. People also him things from different countries, such as a silk fan from China, a little model car from Germany and some kangaroo from Australia. My father even kept the ticket from his first football match. The box made me think my hobby. I would keep my old picture books and toys and I'm sure my children would like them in the future. That would be great fun.
