I had too many things to do and always felt busy.1mydaughter caused me to change my plans, I always thought to myself, "Wedon't have time for this." So the two words I always said to her were2.
Theother day, the two of us rode to a3 near our home. After shopping I bought her anice cream, and she sat down at a table happily admiring the ice cream in herhand. Suddenly a4look appeared on her face."Do I have to eat it up in a hurry, Mum?"
I nearly cried when hearing this —the pains of a hurried life influenced my poor girl so5! As she looked at me waiting to know if she could6 her time. I knew I had to make a7. I thought of the times when I rushed(催促) my child8life. I began9what really matters in life...
"Youdon't have to hurry. Just10 it." I said gently. Her whole facebrightened and her shoulders relaxed. We11sideby side talking about things that interested us.
Whenshe got to the last bite(一口), she held it out to me," I12 the last bite for you, Mum." She said13.As the icy taste put out my thirst, I realized I just got the present of a lifetime. I gave my child a little time...and in return, she gave me her last biteand14methat things taste sweeter and love is easier to get when you15rushingthrough life. "Thank you, dear!" I kissed my daughter.

Li Shizhen (李时珍) was born in Qichun, Hubei in 1518.He was famous as a great doctor inChinese history.
Both of Li Shenzhen'sfather and grandfather were doctors. Li Shizhen's grandfather was a countrydoctor who traveled in the countryside with a bag of herbs(药草) and medications and cured people. His father was a doctor whowrote several books on medicine.
Li Shizhen used tohelp his father in his medical practice when he was young. Li Shizhen's fatherwanted him to enter politics (从政).LiShizhen studied for the exams and passed the country-level exam, but he wasnever able to pass the imperial(帝国的) exam.
When he was 38, hecured the son of the Prince of Chu and was invited to be an official in that court(宫廷). A few years later, he became anofficial at the Imperial Medical Institute.
Even though herealized his father's dream, he didn't want to continue working for the court. One year later, he left the court and returned to be a doctor again.
Li Shizhen. was famousfor one of his books, Compendium of Materia Medica《本草纲目》.He spent 27 years writing the book. Unluckily, Li Shizhen diedbefore the book was officially published. It is such a successful book. Now itis still one of the most important medical books in China.
Does Success Come with a High EQ(情商) or IQ(智商)?
Most students think that their IQs are what determines (决定) how well they are going to do in life. When they see other students doing better than them, they usually believe that those students have higher IQs. However, new research(调查) into EQ suggests that success is not only the result of a high IQ.
Your IQ tells you how intelligent(聯明的) you are while your EQ tells you how well you use your intelligence(聪明). Professor(教授) Salovey who invented the term(术语) EQ suggests that when predicting(预言) someone's future success, their EQs might really matter more than their IQs.
It is generally believed that people with high EQs are open to new ideas and have positive(积极的) attitudes (态度) towards life. They are also less likely to be troubled by problems.
People generally believe that a person's IQ is determined(决定) by birth. However, most social scientists agree that EQ has a lot to do with education which can improve a person's EQ, especially in terms (方面) "people sill', such as understanding and communication.
Professor Mayer, a top expert(专家) in the study of changes to people's EQs, recently told us the results of a study on senior high school students. When normal(正常的) students were introduced to some disabled students, they found that, after a period of time, the normal students were more willing to help people with difficulties. They also showed a better understanding of the students feelings compared to students who had not been involved in the study. There was also an obvious change in the disabled students' attitudes. They became more positive about life and more willing to try new things.
The results of the study show that EQ is important. If you want to get ahead(领先) in the world and lead a happy successful life, you should get on with other people and be able to understand and react to the situations in the best way possible. This needs a high EQ. The higher, the better.
A pretty, rich younglady came to see the doctor and complained that her whole life was empty:
It had no meaning.
The doctor said to therich lady, "I'm going to ask old Mary who cleaned the office floors hereto tell you how she found happiness. All I want you to do is to listen."
So the old lady putdown her broom(笤帚) and began her story:"Good afternoon, madam. I'm a cleaner in this hospital. Now let me tell yousomething about my life experience. Well, my husband died of heart disease andthree months later my only son was killed by a car. I had nobody. I had nothingleft. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. My husband and son died, and this mademe never smile at anyone. I even thought of taking my own life because I didn'twant to live alone in the world. Then one evening a little cat followed me homefrom work. Somehow I felt sorry for it. I decided to let the cat in. I got itsome milk, and it licked the plate clean. Then it purred and rubbed(蹭) against my leg, and for the first time in months, I smiled. Then Ibegan to think: If helping a little cat could make me smile, maybe doingsomething for people could make me happy. So the next day I took some rice, vegetables and meat to my neighbor who was sick in bed. Every day I feel sohappy by doing something nice for others. Today I've found happiness by givingit to others."
When she heard that, the rich young lady cried. She realized she was too selfish (自私的) before. She had everything that money could buy, but she had lostthe things which money couldn't buy.
People, including teenagers, usually use the Internet to get to know the world, but many parents worry that their children may meet with something unhealthy when searching online. In order to solve this problem, a new search engine(搜索引擎) for children called Kiddle has appeared.
Search results are filtered(过滤), so only safe websites are shown and descriptions are written in simple language. Searches with bad words are all filtered, too.
Kiddle uses the same colors as Google in its logo and a similar design, on its homepage, too一with an extra robot picture.
The top three Kiddle search results show safe websites and pages written specially for kids, and those websites and pages are well chosen and checked by Kiddle developers(开发者).
The fourth to seventh results will be safe and trusted websites that are not written specially for kids, but have content(内容) written in a simple way. These results are also chosen and checked.
Results on the eighth and its following are safe and famous websites that are written for adults. They provide expert content, but are hard for kids to understand.
Unlike on Google, most results appear along with large thumbnail pictures (缩略图) to make it easier for children to find what they are looking for. For example, when searching for "meow meow", Google produces pages for information about a drug(毒品) that has "'meow meow" as its nickname(绰号),but Kiddle lists safe information only about cats, even with some cat cartoon pictures.
The company explained, "Websites which appear in Kiddle search results satisfy(满足) family-friendly needs as we filter websites with unhealthy content."
