Tina woke up at midnight. She saw something dive towards the ground. The next morning Tina mentioned it her brother Tom. They decided (explore) after school. 6 p. m., they reached the forest. They heard some voices (speak) a strange language. There was an alien standing next to a long spaceship. The children were (frighten). Suddenly another alien appeared from the bushes in front them. The children ran in fear. The next morning the children told their parents about the strange (creature), but their dad refused
(believe) them. Tina and Tom spread their wings and (fly) to school together. Their dad looked at the piece of paper with the strange marks written by Tom. It said "EARTH".
Need you find something to make you happy? Then you will feel happy to know that March 20th is the International Day of Happiness.
The United Nations set up the International Day of Happiness in 2012 to make us remember that happiness is a basic part of our life.
We celebrated it for first time in 2013. On that day, we celebrated hundreds of "Happy Heroes", the "Happy Heroes" did so much to bring happiness to others. They helped the homeless to live a comfortable life and the poor (child) to go to school.
The 2014 Day of Happiness actions asked people (share) pictures of making them happy. People all over the world showed (they) favorite pictures on the Internet. "It is (excite) to see so many people sharing photos of what makes them happy." Joe, a senior high school student from Canada said. The 2015 Day of Happiness actions noticed people feel about each other. Modern society is leaving more and more people feeling lonely. On that day, thousands people all around the world reached out to make new connections with others. They (visit) their neighbors, gave calls to the doctors they didn't know well and drove the strangers to station for free. The main subject of the 2019 Day of Happiness was "Happier Together". It asked people worldwide to keep our eyes on what we have in common, not something that keeps us away.
We (celebrate) the International Day of Happiness eight times since we set it up. What's the main subject of the next International Happiness Day? Who knows it?
I'm from a beautiful village in the middle of Zhejiang. It is nice and quiet place and it has a population of about 900. There (be) a lot of things to do there, with a library, a park and a sports center. It's famous the beautiful mountains.
On weekends, people from the big (city) come here to relax themselves. They go hiking, pick fruit and have a picnic. Villagers in the past were poor, now they are living a wealthy life. Most young people have (they) own cars. People in my village are kind and (friend). They like chatting with you and (tell) you some stories about the village. If you are lucky enough, they will invite you (have) meals with their family. I'm sure you will have a lot of (fun)!
I haven't (write) till now. I've been busy with the course and making new
friends (连词)I got here. I'm speaking English with classmates all the time and going out in the evenings with (they). We're a real mix of nationalities: Chinese, Russian, Italian, Spanish… We talk about all kinds of things (介词) English and I'm learning a lot about other languages and countries, too.
My host family are very nice. The parents are very (friend) and kind. The children are both in primary school and they are very sweet. But they can be a bit annoying (恼人的)too. If we have to watch the film Frozen together one more time, I‛m going crazy! I know all the (song) by heart now!
We live near the school. It's a short bus ride from Edinburgh city center. There is (冠词)ancient castle (城堡)and we're going there next week. Yesterday my Italian friend invited me to watch the free street shows. We (see) a magician doing card games—it was so much fun!
I will send you some (photo) of Edinburgh Castle next time. Take care and let me (know) how you are doing.
Bruce lived in a small town in England. He lived (quiet) with his family. And he always spent his holidays in England, but last year he wanted to do something (difference), "I've never been outside this country. Many people say Spain has beautiful sunshine and fantastic (beach). Also, I can go to visit my cousin in Barcelona, I (not see) her since many years ago. So this year, I'm going there."
He went to Madrid, and stayed in a small hotel for some days. One day, he went out a walk. In England people drive on the left, in Spain they drive on the right. Bruce forgot about this. While he (cross) a busy street, a bike hit him down. The bike hit Bruce heavily that he lay on the ground for a few seconds. Then he sat up and said to (him), "Where am I?"
Just then old man came, he was selling maps next to him. As soon as he heard what Bruce said, he asked him at once, "Map of the city, sir?"
"Dreams may be more important than sleep. We all need (dream)," some scientists say. Dream take up about one quarter of our (sleep)time. People have several dreams each night. Dreams are like short movies. They are usually colour. Some dreams arc like old movies. They come to us over and over again. That may be because the dreamer is (worry)about something. Dreaming may try to find answer.
Some people get new ideas about their work from dreams. They may think their work all day. These ideas can carry over into dreams.
Sometimes we wake up with a good (feel)from a dream. But often we can't (remember)the dream. The dreams can go away (quick)from memory.
Too much dreaming can be harmful. The more we sleep, the (long)we dream. The mind is hard at working when we dream. That's why we may have a long sleep and still wake up tired.
My teachers thought I was the (bad)student. My family also had same thought as my teachers.
When I was going to give up my studying, a new teacher, Miss White came to our school. She was young, beautiful and knowledgeable(知识渊博的).
One day, I was sitting alone in my classroom, Miss White came up to me and talked to me (happy). Soon her smile took away my unhappiness. "Do you think I can go to college?" I didn't know why I asked such a question. I thought she must say "no". Because everyone else said so. But she said, "Dear, you can do (something)you want. Just try and you'll get (close)to success. I believe you are the best!"
I was touched (deep)by her words. I decided to study hard. From then on, we became good (friend). She often helped me with my study her free time.
In the end, I (do)well in my studies and went to a good college. Miss White is an angel(天使). Her words have kept me going forward. She helped me to see that I can special and can be (success)in life.
English is difficult (learn)because it is so different from our mother tongue(母语). Also, we don't have much chance to speak English with foreigners or hear English (speak).
So the first important thing for us to do, I think, is to practise (speak)English more both in and out of class. In class I listen to the teacher (careful)and try my best to answer the teacher's questions in English. After class, I listen to the tapes and wonderful English (song). I often retell the texts my own words. I always work (hard)at English and never give up.
Of course this is not enough. When I find something (interest), I write it in English. At first, I couldn't write well, but with the help of my teacher, I have (make)great progress.
My mum says my head is too expensive, because all my operations(手术)have (cost)millions of dollars. I am sick hydrocephalus. That means "water in the head". Water runs through the body like a river, but sometimes it won't leave my head. That water gives me bad headaches and lots of other problems. So, (doctor)put a small tube(试管)in me to takeaway that water from my head.
I stay in the hospital most of the time. Sometimes the doctors let me go out (play). sometimes, if I play too much, my tube has problems, I have to go back to the house.
My doctor, Dr Beck, is the greatest. He takes good care of me, and he's a lot of fun, too. My (ill)is hard to understand, but Dr Beck always takes time (teach)me about it by drawing pictures or telling stories.
I draw cartoons for him, too, to make him laugh when he gets tired.
When I grow up, I dream becoming a doctor so that I can take care of kids like me. I have been in the hospital a lot, and my mum is a nurse, so I have learned a lot by (watch)and asking questions.
When I'm a doctor, I'll tell sick kids my story to make them feel (good)when they're afraid.
Dear Sandy,
Thanks your email. I've arrived at home (safe).
My grandparents live in a small town fifty kilometres away Jiaxing. I spent about half an hour (get) there. They gave me a warm welcome, and (cook) me a big meal. We talked far into the night and they told some happy stories about them and their neighbours.
Since 2001,great changes (take) place in Jiaxing. I will take some photos and send some you. Next time,I'd like you and your family (come) with me. You can (visit) many places of interest here.
Yours
Chang Lee
