Socrative
In Socrative, teachers can create timed learning games. In class, students compete individually or as part of a team against classmates. One game students love is called Space Race. In this game, if a team answers a question correctly, their rocket moves forward. This team whose rocket gets to the end first wins. Also, teachers can use Socrative as an "exit ticket, " a question they can ask students about what they learned in that day's class. Students write their answers on their mobile devices. Then, the teacher can show the answers on a shared video screen.
QR Codes
A QR Code is a kind of sign that a smartphone can read with its camera. When your phone camera reads a QR code, it takes you to a website, image, video or anything you want to share. For example, one will take you to the VOA Learning English website.

Have you ever tried living a whole day without cash? With a smart phone, it is easy for ordinary people to do so in most parts of China, even when public transportation is involved. In fact, China's mobile payment apps are expanding their reaches in the global market as internet giants like Alibaba and Tencent seek to promote their e-payment tools overseas.
While Wechat Pay has been used in twenty countries and regions including Japan and the Republic of Korea, Alipay offers payment choices for shopping, transport and sightseeing in thirty-eight countries and regions. Wechat can deal with transactions (交易) in thirteen currencies, while Alipay supports settlements in twenty-seven currencies. Consumers in altogether twenty-four countries can get their tax refunds through Alipay, and the app is available in more than sixty overseas airports to offer various services. Besides promoting apps overseas, Alibaba's Ant Financial has partnered with India's PayTM since 2015 to help the latter build a local mobile payment platform and control risks.
What is certain is that the growth of China's mobile payment is driven by improved Internet facilities, technological innovation (变革) as well as a friendly business environment. After successes in online shopping, mobile payments expanded into stores and restaurants in and outside China. The trend has made China the world's largest mobile payment market.
On March 2, at the meeting held ahead of the yearly session of the CPPCC National Committee (全国政协大会), interpreter (口译员) Yao Mengyao caught the attention of many with her "quick reaction and correct translation, " Xinhua noted.
Yao began her studies in English in primary school where she would listen to English tapes. She often spoke to her teacher about English-related topics that were not limited to the ones in her text-books, "They were always very professional uncommon topics, " said Yao's senior school teacher Shen Yingzi.
Like Yao, Zhang Lu is a regular interpreter for China's top leaders, including Premier Li Keqiang and former Premier Wen Jiabao. Her effortless but on-point translations of ancient poems mentioned by former Premier Wen won praise.
So how do interpreters reach their top positions?
The reason for their success is largely hard work. Other than when they go out on visits with Chinese leaders, the interpreters follow a very strict schedule. Zhang called this schedule "an unshakable plan", They listen to foreign media such, as BBC, VOA or CNN through TV or radio for their training.
It is reported that a month before the two sessions (两会), the interpreters get notice of the spokesperson they are going to interpret for. They then make full use of this month to prepare themselves. They try to predict the questions that might be asked and consider the sayings the spokesperson might use when they answer the questions.
In truth, there is no secret to their success: It's all a matter of skill and hard work.
What will people die of 100 years from now? If you think that is not a simple question, you have not been paying attention to the revolution that is taking place in biotechnology (生物技术). With the help of new medicine, the human body will last a very long time. Death will come mainly from accidents, murder and war. Today's leading killers, such as heart disease, cancer, and aging itself, will become distant memories.
In discussion of technological changes, the Internet gets most of the attention these days. But the change in medicine can be the real technological event of our times. How long can humans live?Human brains were known to decide the final death. Cells are the basic units of all living things, and until recently, scientists were sure that the life of cells could not go much beyond 120 years because the basic materials of cells, such as those of brain cells, would not last forever. But the upper limits will be broken by new medicine. Sometime between 2050 and 2100, medicine will have advanced to the point at which every 10 years or so, people will be able to take medicine to repair their organs. The medicine, made up of the basic building materials of life, will build new brain cells, heart cells, and so on-in much the same way our bodies make new skin cells to take the place of old ones.
It is exciting to imaging that the advance in technology may be changing the most basic condition of human existence, but many technical problems still must be cleared up on the way to this wonderful future.
