Dear Irene,
I need your help. My 13-year old son doesn't seem to have any good friends. He used to have some good friends in primary school. Three months ago, he 1 middle school. He has never invited anyone home or gone out with anyone from his new school. When I asked, he 2 said, "It's fine, Mom!" He is on the 7th grade football team, 3 outside school, he doesn't play with any kids.
Thanks for any help you can give 4.
Jane
Dear Jane,
Getting into middle school is a big change 5 both teens and their parents. This change can be very 6 if the kids are shy. Also keep in mind that some teens feel more comfortable being alone than with others. If your son seems "fine", don't 7 too much.
If you do feel something is truly wrong, find out the real 8. For example, do you often argue (争吵) with your husband (丈夫) at home? If so, your son may not want to invite friends over. Young people may 9 their parents' feelings very much.
It's great that he joined the football team. Maybe he will "grow into" a middle school student and make more friends as soon as he is 10.
Hope this will help.
Irene
What will you do if you get five million? Different people give different answers.
Sally |
| If I get five million, I want to do business. I will do a lot of things for my family. For me nothing is more important than my family. I will buy a new house for them and travel around the world. |
Joe |
| If I have five million, I will use the money to do everything I like. First, I will use two million to open my own shop. And will use another two million to buy some new houses. In the future, the houses which I buy will become more expensive, and I will sell them to other people. Finally, I will use one million to buy some presents for my family and my best friends. |
Jack |
| If I have five million, I will put three million in the bank and spend two million. I will visit Paris, London and New York. I will eat delicious food, play games, and build a house with a swimming pool. |

| I will buy an island if I have five million. Then will be the queen of the island. I will invite my friends to my island. |
Many teenagers want to look cool. But not everyone can afford to have a lot of cool clothes. Chloe Murray, an eighth- grader at Jefferson Middle School in the US, had an idea to solve this problem. She opened a charitable(慈善的) clothes closet.
Her school agreed with the good idea, too. The school let her use a room for the project. Chloe's classmates joined her as well.
Last month, the charitable clothes closet, called Chloe's Closet, opened. It's full of trendy clothes for girls and boys to help students look their best.
"Confidence(自信) is a big thing in middle school, especially when it comes to clothing," Chloe told the Chicago Tribune, a daily newspaper in Chicago, the US.
But where are the clothes from? Many people from the school's community(社区) and neighboring schools gave away used clothes, and the clothes are still new. The clothes closet is only open after school from
Monday to Friday. Students can "buy" these clothes by getting "money". They can get "money" when they hand in their schoolwork on time or make corrections(改正) on homework. Since it opened, they have "sold" about 100 things to students.
Dear Mr. Hunt,
I'm a fifteen-year-old girl. And I am a middle school student. I hope you can give me some advice.
Three months ago, I knew a boy when I was chatting on the Internet. I found that he had the same hobbies as me, so we chatted for a long time.
A few days ago, we began to talk on the phone. We didn't meet until yesterday morning. We really had a good time yesterday.
However, some of my friends say that I shouldn't make friends on the Internet. I don't know what to do. Should I talk about this problem with my parents? So I'm writing to you for some advice. Please help me.
Yours sincerely,
Ferry

Once a lonely girl was in great need of love. One day while she was walking in the woods, she found two dying birds.
She cared for the birds with love and they grew strong. Every morning they greeted her with a wonderful song.
One day the girl left the cage open. The girl was frightened that it would fly away. As the bird flew close, she caught it rudely. Her heart felt glad at her success in catching it. Her love had killed the bird.
She noticed the other bird moving around on the edge(边) of the cage. She could feel its great need for freedom. It needed to return to the clear, blue sky. She took out the bird from the cage. The bird flew in a circle once, twice, three times.
The girl felt the bird's enjoyment. Suddenly the bird flew closer and landed softly on her shoulder(肩膀).

One day, a mother crocodile (鳄鱼) and a baby crocodile swam slowly in a riven Suddenly, the mother crocodile saw a monkey, "Oh, a monkey! How nice if I have it for dinner!"
"My son, can you go and get the monkey for me? I want to eat his heart," the mother crocodile said.
"All right," the baby crocodile answered.
The baby crocodile swam near the river bank (河岸). He shouted at the monkey, "Hey, monkey! Would you like some bananas? There are many banana trees over there on the other bank of the river."
"I like them very much. But I can't swim. How can I get there?" the monkey asked.
"Oh, I can take you there," the baby crocodile said.
"Really? Thank you very much!" the monkey jumped onto the baby crocodile's back. In the middle of the river, the baby crocodile went into the water. When he came up again, the monkey was wet all over. "Don't do that again, or you'll kill me!" the monkey shouted.
"I know, but I must do that! My mother wants to eat your heart."
"My heart? Why didn't you tell me earlier7 I left it in a tree. We should go back for it!" So they went back.
As soon as they got to the bank, the monkey picked up a big stone (石头) and climbed up onto the street quickly. He shouted at the baby crocodile, "Don't you want my heart? Well, catch!" The monkey threw(扔) the big stone at the crocodile.
